Can 'The Wild Life' get any wilder?
Posted by Fred on Fri 18 Mar 2016 - 00:39Anthro animal animated features are sneaking up on us faster than we can announce them.
Here is the trailer for the 90-minute The Wild Life, due for American release on September 9, 2016. It’s very loosely based on Robinson Crusoe from the island's animals’ point of view; Tuesday the parrot, Carmelo the chameleon, Scrubby the goat, Rosie the tapir, Pango the pangolin and others. The animals decide to “help” the human castaway and his dog. Ha, ha.
This has already been released throughout Europe in February as Robinson Crusoe, and it will have been seen in most of the rest of the world by the time we get it. If nWave Pictures is involved, it’s a Belgian production. nWave’s animation studio is in Brussels. It does good work. nWave produced the 2013 The House of Magic, which was scheduled for an American theatrical release – it’s set in Boston – up to the last minute. It ended up as a direct-to-DVD kids’ release.
Let’s hope that The Wild Life has better luck.

Review: ‘Pokémon Conquest’ for the Nintendo DS
Posted by crossaffliction on Tue 11 Sep 2012 - 01:43With The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers hitting theaters this summer and together making approximately all of the money, conversations at work have gotten weird. I mean, I have definite opinions on which superhero would win against which superhero in a fight (for the record, Squirrel Girl always wins, Batman never loses and Rainbow Dash beats Starscream), but these people are not geeks. They could probably beat me up, they have social lives outside of the Internet and I’m pretty sure they’ve all lost their virginity.
Okay, I get it, comic books are cool now, although my coworkers were still so puzzled by Squirrel Girl that I was spared from having to explain who Rainbow Dash is. But when they debated whether Mewtwo or Professor X* was the better psychic, I almost lost it. I am not sure I like this brave new world where even Pokémon are cool.
The good news is, Pokémon Conquest for the Nintendo DS is not cool. How not cool? Well, it came out in June, I am reviewing it in September, and have almost wasted 200 words not talking about it. I guess I should start doing that.
Dating show lumps furs with trekkies, chubby lovers
Posted by GreenReaper on Mon 13 Jun 2011 - 19:29Could furry be holding your love life back? Los Angeles television producers appear to think so, judging by a recent casting call for an unnamed show (seemingly Saralane's Reality World):
Looking for Vampires, Wolves, furries, adult babies, trekkies, comic book lovers, body builders, Wiccans, puppetears (sic.), roller chicks, chubby lovers, ... Are you single and genuinely looking to find true love, but something is holding you back??
Researchers at the University of California, Davis might disagree; their 2007 furry survey found 'about half' the respondents were in a relationship – 76% involving other furries.
'Formic Hivemind' charged with sex abuse of a minor
Posted by Higgs Raccoon on Tue 19 Apr 2011 - 21:22Police in Greece, New York have arrested Richard Kretovic, 19 - known in the furry fandom as Formic Hivemind - on a charge of sex abuse. Police say the victim is a boy younger than thirteen.
Police Sgt. Joseph Antinora further said that Kretovic met the alleged victim chatting on Xbox Live; and that upon discovering he was local to the boy, Kretovic arranged a meeting with him, after which sexual acts occurred in Kretovic's basement.
The boy's mother suspected he may have been abused and contacted police near the end of March. Their investigation lead to Kretovic, who was arraigned in Greece Town Court, and remanded to the Monroe County Jail before being released on $50,000 bail.
Mistrial after jury deadlock in Alan T. Panda case
Posted by Higgs Raccoon on Thu 14 Apr 2011 - 03:42The trial of Alan Berlin, known in the furry fandom as Alan T. Panda, has begun. Berlin, a resident of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, was arrested on May 28, 2009, on accusations that he had propositioned a fifteen-year-old boy over the internet. His arrest came after the boy's parents found sexually explicit messages on his computer and they contacted the Attorney General's Child Predator Unit.
Amongst furries, Berlin presented himself as a "daddyfur and caretaker" who was "looking for a babyfur to be (his) mate and companion in a long-term committed relationship." When Berlin's home was searched, wolf and cat-like costumes were found, and it was alleged that Berlin discussed dressing up in animal costumes and engaging in sex.
Update (14 Apr): The jury failed to reach a verdict. A new trial is set for May.
Review: 'Pokémon' evolves a real story with 'Black' and 'White'
Posted by crossaffliction on Sun 13 Mar 2011 - 02:40The fifth generation of Pokémon began by announcing a semi-anthro fox over a year ago. Now, Pokémon Black and White have hit your local video game outlet.
After four generations, Pokémon is a household name. Like the Nintendo DS – hosting five versions of the game, not counting side-trips like the Pokémon Ranger and Mystery Dungeon series – the Pokémon franchise is all but a license to print money.
Add a few critters and upgrades, slap on Pikachu's friendly face and shove it out the door, right?
Wrong. This generation of Pokémon has evolved.

FA turns six; promises new layout, fixes in May
Posted by GreenReaper on Thu 20 Jan 2011 - 03:11Fur Affinity turned six this weekend, offering a preview of a new site template to go live May 21, plus a commission system with integrated ratings.
Site owner Dragoneer has promised that underlying security issues will be fixed too:
Things have been slack in the coding department, and we know that. It's time for a change, and we're long overdue. We're going to fix that. [...] The vulnerabilities will be fixed between now and then, and some of them require complete system re-writes
However, offers to help with these vulnerabilities have been rebuffed for now. It is also not the first time that a new layout has been promised.
