Who's your favourite non-artist contributor to the fandom?

Furry Reddit - Sun 18 Oct 2015 - 12:47

Okay, I know that title was oddly worded, but what I'm asking is, who is your favourite member or members of the fandom that do something other than VISUAL art (images)?

Basically, who are your favourite writers, musical talents, youtubers and performers (in or out of suit) within the fandom?

Edit: phrasing! Sorry for the confusion.

Blogging: An Unknown Concept to the Sequoia

Furry Reddit - Sun 18 Oct 2015 - 06:59

Heita, everybody! Pardon for the abrupt introduction, but I suppose the sooner I type it out, the better. So, I am your average fur who happens to be not so average in terms of hipsterness. I've always had anxiety when it came to sites like Facebook or Twitter, just the thought of keeping up with all the melodramatic status updates and amateur canted angle photos of food had me constantly worrying whether or not I'd be able to keep up with the continuous feed of... that. So, this is where I need your help, whether it be greetings or advice since even this feels pretty damn new to me.

After a day of attempting to appeal an online position as an adjunct journalist, I eventually gave up, still tired from the previous night. Knowing my luck, I stared at my computer screen for a whole five minutes, racking my brain for what I could possibly do on such a blah morning. Fortunately, I was still in the writing mood, so I decided to give this site and subreddit a shot.

So, now that that's outta the way, I'd be pleased if I got a few replies to help me in this somewhat confusing jumble of a website. Yes, you can even comment on how much of a redundant narcissist I come off as though I only try to save that for the exclusively depressing poems. :)

Few questions off the bat:

Is it relatively easy to get flair? Is the community relatively kind? Last of all, anybody an artist? You know, those yucky kinds that write and don't draw cute canines and stuff. (I feel so alone in this world sometimes, having no one to accompany me along this mystical journey of grammar.)

Anyways, your responses are most appreciated, and every one of you are most definitely appreciated for being lovely, accommodating individuals.

Thanks in advance!

Hello Fuzzies!

I'll be doing a photoshoot in the very near future and I'm taking requests for poses you'd like to see me do in Fursuit.

Get creative!

What are some of the "do's and don't's" of writing furry fiction, and what are some tropes that should be avoided?

Furry Reddit - Sun 18 Oct 2015 - 01:29

Hi fuzzybutts! I'm currently working on writing a comedic slice-of-life styled story collection about my fursona, Razzy. However I'm pretty new to the fur fiction crowd, so I'm kinda going in blind and hoping you can help me figure out what are good and not so good things to do with my stories.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!

"The Raccoons" reboot. Yea or nay?

Furry Reddit - Sun 18 Oct 2015 - 01:18

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp2AJoMjbpc

I would love a reboot; however, it with definitely be different from the original. Cases in point, Care Bears and My Little Pony. Both different in storytelling and art style. Most likely, it will be vector drawn. (I will hurt someone if they make it 3D)

My favorite thing about the show is the music.

Lurker looking to make some friends, and become more active in the community.

Furry Reddit - Sun 18 Oct 2015 - 00:36

This is a new account, but I've lurked on \r\furry for quite sometime. I love the fandom, and love the sense belonging and friendship which accompanies it.

I don't actually have any furry friends though, mostly because I'm a second-life furry. This is something I would love to change (the furiends, not the second-life lol).

I'd love to meet some wonderful furs. I'm 17 and male, and a wolf ;) , if that is at all relevant. I would love to meet some furs my age, or anyone really.

So that's sort of my introduction, just wanted to say hello to everybody :)

Do you just feel unsatisfied with the amount of happy-go-lucky stuff in the furry fandom? (Or the lack of unhappy things?) (Possible NSFW)

Furry Reddit - Sat 17 Oct 2015 - 23:19

Before you all dismiss this as some sort of emo/goth kid's ramblings about conformism and stuff like that, hear me out.

Often, whenever I scroll through this subreddit, a good 96% of the stuff I see here is generally happy. I have no problem with that. You all can post as much nose boops and cuddling pics as you want. But I often feel that this just feels like a facade to some degree, like an escape from reality.

Escapism is often, never a good thing, some may argue. Life isn't all happiness and rainbows, and we must come to accept that. We must face our challenges head on instead of running and hiding from them.

And with that in mind, the darker, sadder side of the furry fandom can be looked at with a microscope for how damn small it is. I don't mean a slice of life comic that has someone dying or a yiff comic that involves the darkest, depraved and sadistic of people at work, but with a edge that lets us get off to it. But I mean something that is depressing, and generally can be left open to interpretation. How much stuff in the furry fandom has that kind of intelligence behind it? How much furries can create a short movie and use every cinematography trick they know to have us interpret the scene, or the whole movie in a particular way? How much comics involve sadness that generally doesn't have a resolution to make you feel better at face value, but requires you to think and create your own interpretation about it, to feel better or worse.

[And if you know of any, feel free to tell me cause I like that kind of stuff]

My guess, Is little to none. And that's kinda sad, to be completely honest, and something that often removes me from the fandom. Things that I often see myself enjoying are some of the most violent, depressing and at some angle, saddening stuff. Because often, that is the truth. Life isn't a constant rainbow of happiness. Its a path where it can get though but sometimes be easy, and maybe that saddening stuff can help us through the though times. I like being sad, I like feeling other emotions other than happiness, because that's life.

So my questions for you fuzzbuts. Do you enjoy being sad? Do you enjoy reading sad stories? Do you look at sad art that isn't vent art? And do you make it yourself?

EDIT: Thanks for all the replies, Im not sure If I can get to all of them but thanks for your words!
