Hello, /r/Furry!

As I said, I am fairly new to the whole furry deal. I will be honest, I am one of those freaks who got into it because of the sexual side of the Furry Fandom.

I would like to get into the non-sexual side of it. So, in getting started, I would like to introduce myself, and ask a few questions.

About me:

IRL: I am a straight male, and I enjoy RP, sexual and non, but I will never LARP. I also do not intend to get into fur-suiting. I have not done that much of the sexual side, either, so don't worry about that being a focus of mine.

On the web: As mentioned above, I do enjoy RP. My characters are always male, and tend to have a similar build to my body IRL, tall, fit, but not over-muscled, usually dark-hair/fur. My characters are occasionally bi. They are almost always nice, and if they ever do fall on the darker side of the line, they are still lawful.

A quick note before I move on, Marcus Wolf is just a name I chose, spur the moment. It does not reflect my fursona.

If you have any questions about the above, feel free to ask.

On to my questions:

So, I am in the process of making my fursona. I want to be an animal that I can relate to. Right now I am torn between my three favorite animals, the fox, the wolf, and the otter. Yes I understand that is very broad, river otter, sea otter, etc. for each.

I need help, what is the best way to choose what animal represents you?

Does anyone know any websites that will help teach how to draw furries, so I can draw my fursona once I've made him?

Are there any games similar to Earth Eternal, which was a fun, mmorpg that featured furries, but closed down?

Are there any furry, non-sexual, RP sites or sub-reddits I should know about?

Is there a way other than watch and learn to pick up the "furry lingo"?

That is all I can think of right now, but I might add more questions or details later, as I think of them.

I made it text to not seem like a karmawhore. These look pretty fun and you can upload any picture you like as far as I can tell. They ask for no offensive pictures, so to me, that means no yiffy luggage tags :P.

..and I'd like to ask those more knowledgeable about the laws than I am. Is it legal to fursuit outside? I thought it was. He wasn't in any buildings and has done it before. Also, when he was stopped the head wasn't even on. I'd like to know why he was stopped and if there is a legitimate reason for this.

Howdy there Papa Bear.

I got a huge problem. A four root canals problem. I make very little income in the state of VA, and most my money goes towards bills, debt, and food. I've been terrified for my life. These oral problems can lead to heart disease and other health issues. I have been denied loans, or not offered enough money out of loans for debt consolidation so I can put money out for the dental work. I'm most certainly not willing to get another credit card. The debt would crush me down even further, and my options keep me bouncing back and forth. Either living miserably poor or possibly dying. I'm pushing myself I think to wait for something amazing to happen. I am unable to afford dental insurance to get the appropriate coverage I need, and my work place doesn't provide any benefits. I've been hunting for a job with benefits and more pay, but in today's market it's tough to scramble to the top without an "education". So, my question is, with facing all these roadblocks and limited options, is there any way to receive dental assistance? I've been feeling really sick lately, and I don't think it's wise for me to leave this world yet. If you're able to give me a bump in the right direction, would be greatly appreciated.

You are right to be concerned about your health regarding your teeth. Many people do not take proper care of their teeth, and this can lead to other serious health issues. Oral health is very important, and thank you for pointing that out in today’s letter.

Thanks to the fact that the United States is the most backward Western power in the world in terms of health care (and education), you now find yourself in a situation where you can’t just walk into a dentist’s office and get needed care. The government has completely let its citizens down in this respect.

Fortunately, there are people who still care out there. When I was living in Mason, Michigan, a kindly doctor opened up a free dental care place for people who couldn’t afford it. There are clinics like this in your state, too, Wulf.

Please visit The Virginia Association of Free Clinics online at http://www.vafreeclinics.org/index.asp and find a clinic near you. These clinics serve not only the unemployed but also the working poor, such as yourself.

Hey guys. Just got off a long and painful skype chat with my parents, and It did not go well.

My parents have always been pretty good people, helping with my clinical depression, and just being overall awesome and helpful.

Sometime ago, they heard I was a furry. It didn't seem to phase them much. However, while chatting, they suddenly bring it up.

Skipping a bit here, but it ended up with me being disowned, ridiculed, and just... A lot of hate coming at me. They dint have an issue with me, but my apparent "choice" of being "a perverted kid who likes to fuck animals" (real quote)

I never expected this to happen..my parents have always been open minded. Even accepting my bisexuality. I wasn't prepared for this sudden disapproval.

After all this, by confidence has been shot, making me see how alone I am and how much my parents, and many of my friends for that matter, did not approve o me. Hope this all makes sense. Any one else out there gone through this before? Any advice?

TL;DR: parents suddenly revealed third feelings to me abou furry, had a lot of bad things to say. Made me realize how alone I am..etc...

I dont mean to add to the stereotype that furries feed off this kind if shit. I really am having this issue right now.
