Furry Gets Hate for Not Being as Fat as His Fursona

Ask Papabear - Wed 27 Mar 2013 - 10:14
Dear Papabear,

See, a Fat fur called "Tom," an encourager on FA, called me out as a fat hater all because I don't want to gain weight in real life. I had his journal pulled, but the damage was done and I lost a lot of friends, including my friend "Mike.”

My question is, should I stop being a Fat fur and stop posting my padded Fursuit?

Silver

* * *

Hi, Silver,

Tom is being illogical in saying you are a “fat hater” because you are concerned about your health and want to lose weight. That’s number 1. Number 2 is that it is perfectly viable to love fat people while not being fat yourself. These people are typically called “chasers” in the gay community. Number 3, your so-called “friend” Mike dumping you because of this proves that he was never really your friend (sorry to inform you of that). True friends stick by you, are concerned about you, and don’t dump you because some third party flames you with things that are not even true.

So, in brief: Tom? Not a friend. Mike? Not a friend. Silver, I’m sure there must be people in your life who support you and would not treat you like Tom and Mike and, apparently, some other people have. Those are the ones who are your friends and the ones you need to keep by your side.

As for your fursona? You want your fursona to be fat? Cool with Papabear. My own fursona is a half ton heavier than the real McCoy. Fursonas are, by definition, not a reflection of your real physical self. I mean, should I unfriend a dragon scaley because IRL he doesn’t have wings? Ridiculous. I even know furries who have fursonas that are not even the same gender, let alone weight, as the person behind the fur.

Be who you want to be in real life: thin human being; be who you want to be as a fursona: fat furry. And when you find people in your life who like you in both ways, then you have found your friends.

Be Happy,

Papabear

Review: ‘Demon of Undoing’, by Andrea I. Alton

Furry News Network - Wed 27 Mar 2013 - 04:24
Author: Fred Demon of Undoing opens in the midst of battle, immediately establishing the Imkairans as a planetful of uncontrollably ferocious felinoids divided into constantly warring small feudal clans: The warrior twisted his head, snarling at his commander over his shoulder, ears flat and eyes slitted with fury. In the brown furred hand the sword shifted [...]

Their Own Take on the Mice

In-Fur-Nation - Tue 26 Mar 2013 - 23:31

One of the most famous furry comics out there at the moment is Mouse Guard by David Petersen. This sword-and-sorcery tale (tail?) has already spawned collections, role-playing games, and a devoted following. Now and then, Mr. Petersen allows some of his friends to try their paw at the Mouse Guard characters and situations — and some of the best in the business came calling. After the first go-round’s success, Archaia Entertainment have announced that Volume 2 of Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard will be released  as a full-color 4-issue miniseries, starting this May. “Contributors to issue #1 include Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo), Ben Caldwell (The Dare Detectives!), and the team of writer Nick Tapalansky and illustrator Alex Eckman-Lawn (Awakening). Subsequent issues will include contributions from Christian Slade (Korgi), Rick Geary (The Adventures of Blanche), Jemma Salume (Unicorn Life Cycle), Jackson Sze (concept art on films like The Avengers and Iron Man 3), Cory Godbey (Fraggle Rock, the upcoming Jim Henson’s Labyrinth), Eric Canete (Fear Itself: Spider-Man), C.P. Wilson III (The Stuff of Legend), Bill Willingham (Fables), and fantasy illustrator Justin Gerard.” After the mini-series is completed, the whole thing will be released as a hardcover graphic novel this fall.

Message to all Sydney furs!

Furry Reddit - Tue 26 Mar 2013 - 22:20

The fandom in Sydney in particular seems to be quite dead, or at least hiding from me :3 I was wondering if we could organise a meet up to do laser tag or just hang out or something like that. Eg. At a bar?

I'm tired of never meeting furries, lets see if we can change that.
