Furry Artist Wants to Take on Non-X Commissions
I've been drawing since I was ten, and I keep improving more and more. I do trades and art raffles online, and people are generally pleased with what I draw for them.
Lately, I've begun to develop a "if I'm good at something, I shouldn't do it for free" mentality. I'd like to open commissions, because I would like to gain experience in selling art. I'm not the best artist, but I'm better than many. I've seen with less skill than me (and I don't mean than in a condescending way) do commissions for people, so why can't I?
Anyway, I would like to get my foot through the door of commissions but the problem is that it seems like the yiff and fetish artists are the ones that seem to get the most customers and I don't want to draw yiff. I don't want to draw it because I just don't feel comfortable doing it.
I'm able to draw tame(ish) fetish related art and pinups, however, if people really want me to. I'm just afraid that people will get turned off to me as an artist because I don't want to draw yiff.
Is there a way for me to get my paw in the door of commissions without drawing yiff?
Sincerely,
Caleb (age 18)

Dear Caleb,
I agree that if you have a skill you should be able to make an income using those skills. Knowing other artists, I also have to regrettably agree that there is a higher demand for furporn than pretty much anything else out there, and I do know of artists who draw it only because they can’t make money drawing G or PG stuff.
There are a couple other ways you can still go that are still very popular with many furries, however. One is to specialize as a badge designer. It is rare to see a furcon attendee without one of these badges, and sometimes more. I have about 10 of them myself :-) You don't make a lot per badge, but they are quick to draw so you can make up with quantity what you lack in price per badge.
Second, and kind of related to the above, is character reference sheets. These are in demand by people who want to have fursuits made for them (below is a copy of the one I had done for my Grubbs Grizzly fursuit).
Another medium that is very popular is furry comics. And many of these are clean. Some furry artists who are popular with their porn have also managed to be popular with clean furry comics and graphic novels. One that comes to mind is Blotch (actually a female team of artists). If you are unsure of your writing skills, or simply have no interest in writing, there are lots of furry writers out there who are seeking a good illustrator to collaborate with (I know of one very close to me who is still looking for one).
So, there are three ideas where you can be paid as an artist to do non-furporn art that is still very popular with furries. Hope that helps!!!
Hugs,
Papabear

Review: ‘Wereworld: War of the Werelords’, by Curtis Jobling
I was inspired by PowerRaptor
I too want to be a commission worthy artist. Thing is my laptop's USB ports are shot. I can get my tablet to work a few times a month for maybe a couple of hours.
By now you’re probably thinking, “Why not just get a job?” I’m not gonna get into full detail about it but working isn’t an option for me right now. If you really want to know why, you can ask me.
So here’s the big idea:
If you should happen to have a dollar to spare, give me a thing to draw and I’ll do it.
My paypal email is erynskeeper@live.com
I’ll draw just about anything, or at least try to. I'll fight my laptop and make it work until I can afford a new computer.
I know they're expensive and this is quite a long shot but I have other commission ideas coming up. This is only the beginning. By the end of this I hope to have improved my art style greatly and also learn to manage my time more wisely.
Here as some random things I drew:
This is the example I posted on my tumblr
If this whole thing flops, then at least I tried.

Three free sketches
Can't sleep, so I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon and offer three free sketches of people's fursonas as practice, at roughly this level of quality (hopefully better as these are a little old): http://i.imgur.com/0m43BJT.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/XjOdLGQ.jpg . Reference images are nice, but bullet point descriptions are fine too. Also suggest a simple pose, or else they will just be standing there, waving or something.
SFW only

Passed out on my keyboard last night, so I'll get these done today

Have an Xbox One? Haven't plopped down your money for Sabrewulf, Killer Instinct's furriest character, yet? Well you're in luck! He's the free character in this round's rotation. Every few weeks or so, KI will have a new character shuffled out for people to try out. The previous one available was Jago, which launched with the Xbox One back in November.
Sabrewulf comes with the 675MB update, which provides some much needed patches to the game, which can be checked out here.
Can someone help me find a higher resolution version of this picture?

I do not know the artist, but i'd love to have it as my wallpaper. However, right now its not fit for being a wallpaper. Can you guys possibly find a higher resolution version of it? Thanks! :3

Details
Hi, let me introduce myself, my name is Roulette(Austen IRL). I am 18 and a I am a huge animal enthusiast. Recently, after surfing reddit, I came across the unsettling news of the status of the West African Lion. So I finally decided to stop being apathetic, to stop being someone who stands to the side and waits for someone else to act, I'm going to try to make a difference. I'm going to Cause an Uproar.
My fund raising group is named Reddit's Big Boma Initiative and I'm going to try to hit the front of /r/pics if I can pull off a few deals with photographers. Let me explain the details...
Sometimes in Africa, I lion get's hungry. So Mr. Lion prowls the Savannah for a tasty snack. Lo and behold, a farmers cattle! The lion pounces the unsuspecting prey and enjoys the easy meal. However, the farmer is less than pleased. That cow was a pig part of his living! That lion must pay for its crimes against me and my family! And so the hunt begins...
Build a boma... A boma is a cheap and easy structure to erect and maintain. It acts much like a fence and is extremely effective at protecting livestock. For $500, it is possible to build one, and $25 a month to maintain. Countless lions in a dwindiling population can be saved, but only with your help. National Geographic's Big Cat Initiative empowers us to make a difference.
Proof of existence available upon request
So what do you say fuzzbutts, do we have a deal?

What are some websites a furry artist who makes a living off commissions could use?
I have a friend who is a furry artist, she presently uses Furaffinity. I was wondering if there might be other websites she could join where members would be interested for commissioning her to do artwork for their characters or other furry-things(sorry I know nothing about the scene).
