Just wanted to pop in and say hello to all the Reddit type Furry folks.
Kind of been lurking for quite some time, finally decided I might as well make an account and perhaps contribute...well I can't contribute much but hey.
I won't bother going into my life story here because...doubt anyone wants to read all that (That's not a "woe is me" statement). Needless to say, I am a what has been now termed (It only took 10 years to finally come up with a species name) a 'Equbarottah' (Best pronounciation I can come up with is Eq-BAR-otta).

Love At Furst Sight - A Furry Animation Short
Who are the very best artists I should be watching on furaffinity?
It's pretty difficult to find out about the best artists. Who are the great ones? I've got Sugarboy and Gil panda, I'm looking for others.
Edit: I'm trying to find some cleaner, more realistic artists, besides stuff like those above. I want art meant to be interpreted, examined, tell a story or express an emotion.
Also, who are your favorite writers? Who tells the best stories?

Why is there a "victim culture" within the furry community?
Furries act like a persecuted minority. I believe we are overacting a little bit.
There's never been a law that denied furries the right to mate, marry, or use a public restroom. Nobody ever said a furry can't go to college, ride a bus, or be a doctor. An angry mob has never beaten a furry.
As far as I know, nobody said a furry can't be part of the family they were born into. Nobody ever refused to give medicine or life saving treatment to a furry. Nobody ever pointed a gun at a fursuiter to run them out of town. Furries get to vote and own property, the police don't marginalize them, and they don't go to jail if they are found outside after dusk.
The things I've just mentioned have been reality for gays and blacks, who have faced such serious prejudice and persecution that they have been beaten, ran out of churches, shunned by family and friends, and sometimes even killed by family and friends who suddenly became hostile.
I grew up a furry before the fandom even existed. I drew sexy cartoons in highschool, and I wore a tail in college. Nobody ever said a disparaging word. I've never had a bad day as a furry. Life is great! I have never been persecuted even though I'm openly furry.
So here's where my question comes in. I see this behavior of people acting persecuted and hurt, why does it exist? I see posts like "Help me come out of the closet to my parents! I am so scared and lost." and "Is there a furry friendly landlord in Seattle?"
There's this assumption that few things are furry friendly, so we should act like Jews during the holocaust as if we need safe houses and need to know which businesses will deny or provide service.
How would anyone even know that they should kick you out of a restaurant unless you wore a suit right into it and then acted so poorly that other people complained about you? I.e. why would anyone even feel the need to ask? Are they in legitimate fear or rejection?
Has there been one report of a business that wasn't furry friendly and refused service? Has anyone seen a sign that prohibits wearing fur suits?
We can take our 'furry' off. Tell a black man how you suffered inescapable persecution as a furry who can't hide. We get to marry anyone we want. Tell a gay why we say "furry pride" when the only price we paid for stealing their slogan was the admission fee at a convention.
TLDR; I do not believe that furries are actually persecuted. Why are we acting like victims?

The Creator of Samurai Cat — RIP
Word came out recently that one of the originals of Furry Fandom, Mark E. Rogers, passed away this past weekend while out hiking with his family. Some might even call him a patron spirit of anthropomorphics. In 1984 (back when a certain group of Ninja Turtles were making their very first appearance) mark published his first book chronicling the adventures of Miaowara Tomokato, the Samurai Cat. Almost every other page of Rogers’ Samurai Cat books featured a black and white or full-color illustration by the author, connected with the action on the previous page. Through a series of five such books of historical satire, Mark was one of the first to take anthropomorphics away from “funny animal” silliness and into something completely new, in a big way.
