My Furry Halloween Tradition for the last 4 years is to watch the Reanimator 2 video. Enjoy!

Reanimator 2

I also used to watch "Halloween Husky" by Maskedpup, but can't seem to find that anymore.

Who are some of your favorite furry youtubers?

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 22:03

Hey fuzzybutts, I'm looking for some really fun YouTube channels specifically for furries. I don't have a specific preference as to what kind of stuff they may do, so share any and all great furry channels!

Furpocalypse! Who's going?

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 21:15

Hey all!

I'm going to Furpoc this weekend, and it'll be my first ever fur con! I've been to my share of anime conventions, and I don't expect this to be too much different, but I'm nervous all the same.

But anyhow! Who all here's going? I'll be there the full weekend, arriving from Upstate NY at like 8am Friday morning.

(Also, I'll be giving out treat bags on Saturday to some lucky furs, since it'll be Halloween!)

Am I a furry?

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 20:39

Hi! So I've been having some weird feelings regarding furry lately and I'd really appreciate talking it out with someone.

So, I've enjoyed furry art (um, mostly porn) for a long time, since middle school. I've never identified as a furry though, as I didn't identify with animals or want a fursona. I just thought the art was hot.

Fast forward to last weekend, I was at a festival with my gf and she gave me a tail to wear. I figured fuck it, why not, it's fun to dress up at festivals. But the thing is, while I had the tail on, it felt weirdly...good? I really enjoyed having it on, wagging it, etc. There was this weird coincidence where 2 different people thought my name was Cameron, and in my mind this whole alternate per(fur?)sona started taking shape, almost automatically.

I'm 20, and I haven't really thought about this issue in a long time but I'm a lot less socially inhibited than I was last time it came up, also a lot less conflicted regarding the idea of being a furry (had some 4chan-derived cognitive dissonance about it back then).

Am I a furry? And if I am, who wants to be the one that helps introduce me to the community/what that means/what this is all about?

Sorry for the long post! I'd really appreciate some insight :)

Help finding someone to commission.

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 19:56

Gonna seem like a really strange thing to ask but I have been trying to make my self a fursona for months now. I have what I want in mind but I just can't even get the basics down on paper. Anyone know of a artist who would work with me to give my fursona a form and my first ref sheet?

Forgot to add that for price I would be willing to go anywhere from 0 -50$ depending on the work.

Edit- in case you are wondering what you might be getting yourself into. I used a free ref sheet I found ->ref sheet came from here, to try to make something close to what I was wanting.Bad example here. Please note that this the ref sheet I used was changed a lot to make that, and I take no artistic credit for it. Was just trying to give people a idea of what I want. Bur is a dragon I dreamed up about 9 years ago, but after trying from months to think of a new one, I gave up and turned back to him as my first. He has 4 arms, the wings in the middle of the page are his ears. As a kid this guy is kinda what I think gave me the idea for him. Lastly He mostly has on armor so most of his body you wont see. Sorry if this seems like a lot just wanted anyone who might want to take the commission to know what I am looking for.

A nobody's opinion...

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 19:00

As I've lurked for months, struggling to make the leap of faith into a fandom I feel myself drawn to, I've noticed many tragedies as of late... A lot of strong members of the community have either seemed to disappear from the subreddit or passed. If it's ok with everyone else I think this would be a good time to just appreciate each other. I know many people hate the "hugbox" of this subreddit, but, excuse me if this just sounds really dumb and cheesy, you don't know the people on the other side of the screen. Their stories, their pain, and for many, even their death. So maybe in between scrolling through amazing art, actually talk to people, alright? We've got an amazing bunch here, don't limit yourself to only knowing their art dumps :3 sorry if this was a dumb post...

Finally getting around to making a fursona

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 18:01

After a bloody year in this fandom of being completely neutral on fursonas, I've finally caved in and decided that foxes are pretty damn awesome.

I'll get around to doodling and stuff later, but for now I would like suggestions. If I do get around to it and they're not complete trash I might post results, but for the time being I'd like some inspiration.

He Wants a Job with a Furry Business

Ask Papabear - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 14:01
Dear Papabear,

As I'm over half way through high school it's now time for me to start looking for a job. My plans were to hopefully work with furries for around 5 years before signing my freedom away to the military, but if I like the job too much I was going to stay. (I do realize that I'm still young and things can and do change).

My question to you is what jobs are there in the fandom? Sadly I lack the artistic still to be an artist and have yet to even try fursuit construction so those are out. (I also would like to have some furry co-workers) Currently I was looking at applying at Bad Dragon but there located in Phoenix, Arizona and I hate there hot weather. (I'm from north west Washington state). My dream was to move to the Midwest around Michigan or as I like big cities buffalo in upstate New York but I would be willing to go where the job is.

P.S. I just thought of something; is a fursuit making assistant a thing?

Hashna (age 16, Washington state)

* * *

Dear Hashna,

There really is not much in the way of jobs in the furry fandom, especially if you are not artistically inclined, because there really are not many furry-run businesses. Most people who make money in the fandom are creating things (arts, crafts, fursuits and fursuit paraphernalia) and selling them as small businesses. You mention Bad Dragon, which, if you are cool with the things they manufacture, I hear is actually a pretty good company to work for. I’ve talked to some of their employees, and they are quite happy and feel they are treated well. You say that you are “willing to go where the job is,” but that’s not true if you’re not willing to move to Phoenix. Too bad, because I also hear good things about the furry community in Phoenix.

About the only other industry I can think of that is furry-related is in publishing. There are several publishing companies that specialize in furry books, graphic novels, comics and the like. Type in “publishers” on the WikiFur site and explore the companies there. Since you’re not good at the graphics end, you can see if they need help with other areas of publishing, such as sales or administrative tasks (although for the latter you would be better off with a college degree).

Speaking of college, I’m assuming you’re considering the military because you can’t afford college? You know, if you can get some decent work you could probably afford a good community college, which is cheaper than a 4-year school, and learn a valuable trade or go into nursing or some such. It’s a very good option for many people, and it has the added benefit of the fact you usually don’t have people shooting at you like you do in the military.

Another thing I would advise—nay, beg—you not to do is move to Michigan. The economy there is in the toilet and it is an absolutely miserable place to try to find work; the weather there also sucks big time. If you are dead set on moving to the Midwest, I would suggest Minneapolis/St. Paul as a more viable option (if you really like snow). If you are absolutely convinced you have to move to Michigan, the only city that might be tolerable is Ann Arbor. Nice university town with some culture to it (stay away from Detroit and the surrounding areas).

Oh, and there is no such thing as a fursuit maker’s assistant (not, at least, as a paying job), so abandon hope there. Even the most successful fursuit makers struggle to make a living at it and usually supplement their income with other “real world” jobs.

So there’s the reality of it. It’s very difficult to make money in the furry fandom world. It can be done, but don’t get your hope up because it’s rare that people make a living in the furry world exclusively. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Hugs,
Papabear

Introduction Post... Sorta

Furry Reddit - Tue 27 Oct 2015 - 13:57

Hi everyone, like the title suggests this is sort of an introductory post, but really i just want to kind of say how i got involved in the community and my opinions on it.

A little about myself to give you insight into me sort of speak: im a 17 year old dude from Alberta * some consider it the Texas of Canada * My favorite things to do are play video games, drive, play hockey, and read. My favorite video games right now are definatly League of Legends, Startcraft II, and of course Halo 5(HYPE)! I love driving, working on and reading about cars (not trucks, ew :P). I play as a goaltender in hockey and attend a hockey school (why not play hockey than do schoolwork!) My favorite genre of books are science fiction and sometimes fantasy, favorite series is definitely The Expanse Series By: James S.A. Corey (worth a read if your looking for something) Oh! Almost forgot! My favorite animal among furries ( if that makes sense D:) is either fox i know sooo original or a bunny

That's all for my boring introduction, now its time for what i really want to say!

So, to start off id like to think of myself as only a furry sometimes, the reason I think this way is because I don't normally find myself thinking about the fandom or drawing about it much in my spare time. I do still browse this Reddit fairly frequently and read the comics and such, but it just revolves around my mood 90% of the time. Now I got involved in the community by a friend of mine who was in my old raiding guild in WoW, she was a furry and kind of gave me perspective on the whole thing and the big ol' misconception about us. Not to long after that depression really hit me I started to get into the fandom, just lurking and talking to people within it usually on omegle, I never ventured into yiffing or role-playing but just forged friendships with the people that I found within the community. I met some very extraordinary people of all ages genders and sexuality's and i fell in love more with that than the actual fandom itself. I just thought it was amazing that it didn't matter who you were or who you liked, everyone just shared the same common interest and didn't judge! So then whenever I found myself going into the dumps I'd go and talk to some of my friends inside the fandom and it always seemed to help since I can't really talk to all to many people irl about my depression because where i come from that kind of stuff is frowned upon, so again I resorted to retreating into the furry community. Rolling back on the partial furry part mentioned at the beginning, i like the idea of anthropomorphic animals and being able to give them my own personality i still find it kind off odd or funny that people dress up in fursuits and yiff, never could wrap my head around that. But, just because i say that does not mean in any way that i have something against them or look down upon them, simply saying I could never get into it is all! Thats just the main reason i consider myself a "Half Furry" :)

And thats pretty much it for a casual introduction of myself :) just wanted to let all of you guys know that even if you don't realize it this community is helping me, and most likely other people just the same, just by, well being you! :D
