It’s that time again, boys and girls (and everything else)! Sorry about the intro getting interrupted, but you can expect a lot more “no” if PIPA gets put through and/or SOPA is revived and snuck through when nobody’s looking. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance, after all! We’ve got three e-mails this time, though two are from Sclariqrevk; remember, all of the rest of you are allowed – even encouraged! – to e-mail us with your issue! The last is from a listener whose brother is having a really rough time of things. Lots of doors have been closed, but we try to pry open any possible venue to help! We’ve also got a rant about drama vs. conflict, our word of the week (this), Harry Belafonte, Final Fantasy, 2-D vs. 3-D, icecapades, Obama’s state of the union address, and other various and sundry items!
Next week’s show is going to be something entirely new. We’re going to be doing a show about confessions. All e-mails will be completely anonymous, and we encourage the usage of services like gmail and Hotmail to create new accounts through which to send us anything you want to get off of your chest. As usual, we’re also perfectly willing to field any requests for help or other topics. Remember, we want to hear from you – you ARE Fuzzy Logic!
Also, we will be recording our first LIVE episode of Fuzzy Logic at Furry Fiesta this year, on February 24th at 9:00p. We want to invite all of our listeners to come and join us, and we want you to send us e-mails to read on the show; if you want us to save what you send for the live show, just include that in the subject line!
Finally, Kyo should have us live on iTunes sometime over the weekend; come Monday, check for us!

Lycanthropy Can Be Funny
More e-books we’ve stumbled across… Check out Lycanthropy Anonymous by J.A. Konrath. This 2011 book concerns lycanthropy — shapeshifting — and the myriad ways it can make your life complicated. Here, check out the publisher’s description from Amazon: “It isn’t easy being a werewolf. Especially when you’re a newbie at shapeshifting. Lucky, there’s a group called Shapeshifters Anonymous that will help you work through the difficult times, like eating your friends, and shedding. When recently turned werewolf Robert Weston Smith discovers his new found abilities in a humorous (but alarming) way, he seeks out the support group to help him figure things out. There he meets various characters who transform into assorted, odd things, including a sexy werecheetah named Irena. But little did Weston know he’d been followed to this private gathering, by someone who wants to do the therianthropes a great deal of harm… ” The description goes on, “Shapeshifters Anonymous is a 12,000 word novella, specifically formatted for Kindle. It contains a handful of werepeople, a dash of romance, some gratuitous humor, and revisionist Xmas theories. It also has previews of Konrath’s other work.” And it’s available for the Kindle right now.
You know you want to play it: "Vore Tournament"

How do you determine your 'fursona'?
I was talking to a guy, and the subject of furrys was brought up. Apparently since I more or less lurk and don't have a fursona I'm not "a real furry" or something. So, fine, I probably will always mostly lurk, but I wouldn't mind a fursona. I just don't know what to choose. Dog and cat are okay, but too typical. Same with fox and a dozen others. Rarer animals make me think someone's trying to hard. Nothing really calls out to me, at least not that I can think of.

Jak and Daxter Collection arriving Feb. 7th, Includes 100+ Trophies
The wait is over for more Ottsel action! If you've ever waited to play the Jak games, or perhaps they were a little bit before your time, here is your perfect opportunity to play these outstanding games. The game will scamper into stores on February 7th in North America, and will include all three games in the series. They have been remastered in HD and delivered on a Blu-ray disc. The game will run you $39.99, but for three full games, that's not shabby at all.
All three games have been enhanced with trophies as well, and Mass Media has crafted custom Trophies for you to earn. "The team at Mass Media has created intricate Trophies, each featuring a unique variation on a design theme based around its mission type. There are over 100 to collect including three Platinum Trophies, so you completionists will have hours of Trophy-hunting fun to look forward to."
Where in the world did all these drugs come from???
Since when did this Fandom become such a drug scene? Everyone I saw at FC was smoking, snorting, or popping something. No matter what room I went too! It was inescapable! Please tell me I'm not the only clean, non using Furry out there... that would just be sad.

Ask Papabear: Furry Wonders Why Certain People Are Attracted to the Furry Fandom
Dear Papabear,
I am what you would call “furry” and I have been to several local cons. I don’t really live the “furry” lifestyle in as such that I wear a tail, bark at people, eat out of a dog bowl, or wear a collar. I have certainly been caught “Mooing” at the cows though. I do spend years and years writing furry stories (no yiff… sorry).
I don’t really have any problems with my furriness; I am open, and not prejudiced to almost anything or anyone. In hindsight, I would say that I was very young, about 10 years old, when I can say I had a truly furry-moment.
I have noticed that in the “Fandom” (people who are actively social with their furriness), that there is a very high percentage above the general population of people with conditions considered not “normal”. Many of my furry friends have Asperger syndrome or other autism disorders, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or Dyslexia. The Fandom also exhibits a very high percentage of Gay/Bi members.
Myself, I am not Gay or Bi, but while growing up, I was slightly autistic with some classical tics now associated with Tourette’s syndrome. I admit that even in my adult years (Nearly 50), I am still not as social as most people, and my brain registers data differently than other people I work with. This is not necessarily a bad thing, I make very good wages and I am the only one where I work who has ever earned the highest award for excellence from the company (in the last 25 years).
The mystery to me is why does the Furry Fandom attract the people it does?
Is “Furry” some undiscovered psychological symptom of another condition?
Please answer this mystery for me so that I can sleep peacefully again.
–Blue-Moo
Dear Blue-Moo:
While this column is intended as a way of offering some advice about personal problems, and not to answer such questions as “what is a furry?” I’m going to read in between the lines of your letter and guess that you are troubled about your furriness, even though you say you “don’t really have any problems” with it. If you can’t “sleep peacefully” without knowing the answer, then it clearly is nagging at you.
You describe yourself as a furry who doesn’t follow the “furry lifestyle,” who isn’t interested in writing yiffy stories, and who does not suffer from serious psychological issues, except for mild autism and Tourette’s. You also seem to feel that most furries behave like dogs (wearing collars and drinking from bowls), are gay or bi, and suffer from learning disabilities or other problems such as Asperger syndrome.
I think you would be interested in reading a couple of surveys that have been done on the furry community. The first one was very recently posted right here on FNN at https://web.archive.org/web/www.furrynewsnetwork.com/2012/01/mixed-venue-survey-delineates-furries-therians-otherkin/. The other one is an ongoing survey that is quite interesting at http://www.klisoura.com/furrypoll.php. You can take the survey yourself there and then see the results here: http://www.klisoura.com/ot_furrysurvey2011.php.
I think that, once you read about these surveys, you will see that the furry community is a lot more diverse than you might think. A LOT of furries are heterosexual, for example, and a lot are really not all that interested in yiff. At least, not any more than any other healthy individual.
For Papabear, a “furry” is simply someone who is interested in anthropomorphic characters in fiction, art, and so on. It is, in a real sense, a subset of the same group of people who enjoy comic book or Star Trek conventions. Comic book fans, sci-fi/fantasy fans, and furry fans all have something in common: they enjoy creative, escapist literature and art.
Like these other sorts of fandom, the community of furries is complex; generalizing what a “typical” furry is can be quite a misguided pursuit. For instance, you are very much a furry, though you do not meet the “definition” of a furry as a gay or bisexual male with a learning disability who drinks from a bowl and doesn’t have a good job.
You ask why the furry fandom attracts these sorts of people, and my answer would be that it attracts them for the same reasons that it attracts you. So, if you explore your own reasons for being drawn toward furries, I think you will find your answer.
Bear hugs to you, Blue-Moo. Papabear is glad you have a good job and are enjoying the fandom.
Thanks for your question!
Papabear

What do you want to see in a furry documentary?
I'm a UK fur studying for a Masters degree in Film & TV Production. At the moment I'm on a temporary work placement at a production company. ^^
As part of my placement, I need to develop pitches (I'm learning how to write them, what channels want what sort of programmes, etc). One of my ideas is a furry documentary that's from a furry perspective. Not an outside person looking in, but actually furries trying to explain their community.
I have no idea if this will go ahead (unlikely) or if it'll just stay as a pitch-writing exercise, but I'd like to ask a few questions.
~ How do you feel about the furry documentaries out there? What do they do right? What do they do wrong? Are there any you like, or any you really disliked?
~ Are there any areas of the community that you think existing documentaries have under-represented? What's over-represented? What do you/don't you want to see?
~ Ideally, what would you like to see from a furry documentary? If you could make one yourself that showed the community in a positive light, what would you include? What wouldn't you include?
Or just your general thoughts? Any input is appreciated. <3 Thanks a bunch!
