Fuzzy Logic, full of hammers and suffering! We start off with discussion time, going over such topics as the pre-order launch of the Nintendo Wii U, a person selling their character’s virginity for a tidy sum, the slithering spaghetti monster, a new album with an excellent title, FA taking a nosedive and gradually clawing its way out of the abyss, the new Wreck-It Ralph trailer, Smokey tempting fate, convention plans for the immediate future, a double-header of Words of the Week for Kyo, we discuss Mitt Romney’s total apathy toward your gaybies, and Kyo makes boom-boom!

Once we get into our e-mails, it’s an amalgamation of spirituality and our school episode! One listener describes how prison-like schools have become, we go into homeschooling and who should and shouldn’t use it, a follow-up to the relationship trigonometry e-mail, stories of people who pulled themselves out of the doldrums of high school, recommendations to stick with college, a general eschewing of organized religion, and the cast discusses their own spiritual views! Of course, there’s also the usual shenanigans, like customizable clown sex, several updates to Project Pussyfish, heckling the upstairs neighbors…and lots more!

Next week’s topic is a newbie’s guide to the fandom. Are you new to furry, and don’t know what you’re looking for? Are you a seasoned veteran with some advice to dispense to the newbies? Is there anything you wish someone had told you back in the day, or that you wish someone would tell you now? Drop us a line – as we say in this episode, your e-mails are why there is a Fuzzy Logic!

Also, if you don’t already follow our Twitter account, you should; per a listener’s suggestion, we’re going to start posting the upcoming week’s topic not when the episode is published, but when we finish recording! More time to think!

Are there 18+ cons? If not, why not?

Furry Reddit - Sun 16 Sep 2012 - 21:14

I'm so sick of erotic furs being banished to the dark corner of cons. Furs act all prim and proper until you get into the tiny little 18+ art area.

Are there any 18+ events out there? If not, someone reeeeealy needs to start one. Fuck the clean furs. I want to go to an event where fuzzy nut sacks hanging out are encouraged.

Furry to me is a fun kink and a dull lifestyle. I'm not into this to impersonate a chipmunk. I'm into this to throw on a suit and get all kinky. It's time to split the community and let the murrsuit crowd get out on their own. If you're offended or too young, too bad. Cons try to appeal to everyone, and by doing so, they appeal to no one. Try limiting your audience, and that limited audience will thrive.

Not sure if furry

Furry Reddit - Sun 16 Sep 2012 - 21:09

I've been orbiting furry fandom for a while now (I've been on the edge of fandom since I was about 14 and I'm 25 now). I'm sure if I am, but I don't understand the level of hate furries get (I mean being a dick is it's own issue and I've met plenty of furs that need to relax their fucking selves.)

No fursona, on/off Jack fan, I have no clue what I'm doing...

any furs in Mississippi, near pascagoula?

Furry Reddit - Sun 16 Sep 2012 - 20:58

I would love to meet another local fur to meet and hang out with. If I can find a fur girlfriend it would be even better. I'll provide mire info when needed.

Llama, Llama, Llama, No Duck

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 16 Sep 2012 - 17:15

Somehow, another cultural meme has passed us by (we admit it), but evidently this is a Very Important Llama: “Polka Spot has traveled the world as a fashion model, pop superstar, movie star, magazine editor, diplomatic problem-solver, and general global icon. She goes where no llama has gone before. Her life in pictures is worth a million words. And every one is massively important.  In the rare moments that Polka Spot has any down time, she lives at home with Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, better known as The Beekman Boys, on their farm in Sharon Springs, NY. The Beekman Boys, who will be competing in the Amazing Race on CBS this season, wanted to feature their popular llama from their show that will start airing on the Cooking Channel later this month.  Bluewater Productions is giving this larger-than-life personality a brand new comic series titled Polka Spot: My Life in Pictures. The all-ages comic was co-written by Bluewater President Darren G. Davis, Michael Troy and the Beekman Boy himself, Brent Ridge. Polka Spot’s vibrant art was created by talented artist, Bernat.” Following all that?  We really didn’t either. But, you can find out more at 1st Comic News. Bluewater Productions will bring us Polka Spot #1 in full color this October.

Martial Artist Needs New Way to Practice His Art

Ask Papabear - Sun 16 Sep 2012 - 15:44
Dear Papa Bear,

I am (was) a Martial Artist that quit the last Dojang (to clear any confusion, that's Korean for Training Hall like Dojo is in Japanese) because the instructor wanted some of THE most ridiculius things from me. He wanted me to Fast and Shave my head for HIS belt test (I wasn't even testing). When I was to test I would be expected to do even crazier-sounding things that most of everybody I talked to (one of those people being an instructor from a different school) said were absolutely ridiculous.

This was just under three years ago. I'm not going back there anytime soon.

The thing is, however, that I miss the Martial Arts training I was getting. I miss the various drills that I would do. I miss being covered head to toe in sweat (I have replaced that to a point with weight lifting as a nearby fitness center). I miss the learning and the discipline. I miss the sparring and the board breaking.

I want to get back in, but money and time (or lack there of) now seem to make it an impossibility. Part of me wonders if maybe I should just practice what I know solo in the back parking lots of my townhouse. I was a black belt in a different school before I went to the place with the crazy requirements. I'm left wondering what is best for me at this moment.

What do you think, Papa Bear?

Sincerely
Big Leo

* * *
Dear Big Leo,

If you have time to practice in the parking lot or weight train in a gym, then you likely have time to get formal training, it seems to me. I find it hard to believe that the Dojang you went to is the only one available. Surely there must be other places where you can formally train? Find one and go there instead.

If there is not one that suits you, then could you perhaps try another discipline in the martial arts? Perhaps you can try a Japanese or Chinese form such as Kung Fu? I always thought Jeet Kune Do was cool. Always loved what Bruce Lee taught: the style of no style. Be flexible in philosophy as well as body. Perhaps trying various forms of martial arts will make you a more well-rounded practitioner of the art of self-defense?

You can also look for other people who enjoy martial arts and form your own group with people of different abilities, making sure to find some who are better than you so you can learn from them.

Good luck!

Papabear
