PLEASE BE SPECIFIC ABOUT POSING AND EXPRESSIONS. NOT VERY GOOD AT DRAWING FEMALE CHARACTERS OR HANDS, BUT I'LL TRY!

I also apologize if yours don't turn out as good as others. One of my main problems is inconsistency of skill and style.

A restaurant in Japan has found the solution to lonely solo dining by offering its customers the option of eating opposite large stuffed animals. Let's face it, finding a cuddly date for night out isn't always easy...

I find it to be novel and adorable. In a cafe I use to frequent there was a large (and heavy) stuffed teddy always hanging around.

Hey there!

I'm not exactly new to the furry fandom, but I've always been too shy to really interact with the community or learn more about the whole furry thing. Sadly, I don't even really have a fursona yet.

However, I've decided to stop sitting on the sidelines, and finally get out there! So, where should a newbie start?

do you have any funny stories about when you were drawing furry? i at one point last year was trying to draw a ear or something and flicked my pencil have across the room where i heard a loud thud. I had stuck the pencil in the wall from over ten feet away XD

I guess I should introduce myself to begin with, I'm Diggory, the skunk. Here's a SFW reference sheet since you guys like that sort of stuff. I have been in the sort of, I guess, "furry fandom" since 2007, but I never really considered myself furry until just recently. I've had a multitude of character of characters over the last few years, I started off as "the royal blue duck with the rabbit feet, Dusty" for five years, and then I learned I was gay. I really struggled with the idea of it, so I ended up being a new character that was emotionally disturbed but hid his feelings in late night diners, (the old polar bear by the name of Hudson) for another two years before the last few weeks when I finally opened up to someone, and I guess I'm here... I understood that there shouldn't be a whole, "COMING OUT AS A FURRY" agenda, because it's just a hobby, but it went hand in hand being gay and admitting to that.

I'm here to ask for help for the most part. I want to start getting into the community more, but I'm not really sure where to start and how to go about that? I know the whole con sort of deal, but there aren't any in the near-by area until Spring 2015, and I know there's a site, but I'm just nervous more than anything. There's that FurAffinity site, but is it really a good site to use? I hear so many people say so many awful things about it, and I hear the site is full of... things...

I also see that there have been a few posts recently over the last 24-hours about people being new here, but I'm not really new to the whole agenda, just what to do and what some things are? Where do I meet people with similar interests?

All right, nough' of me, what about you, who are you? What is your "fursona", if that's the term? How are you?

I've been a closet-fur for a year or so now, and have mostly been a quiet observer of furries with interests both non-sexual and sexual.

It's weird to me that, when people bring up the idea of furries as a sexual thing, many furs are quick to deny or downplay it. In my experience, the most normal furs are the ones who regard it as a weird fetish they have, then go about living their life as normal.

I know this is an unpopular opinion on this sub, but I'm being honest here: the ones who regard it as a way of life are the ones who freak people out the most. I've talked with a few close friends about this sort of thing too, and most of them agreed that if, for example, people went around in bondage gear to bondage conventions that would be weird, but just having the occasional bondage session isn't as bizarre.

So I guess my point is, why do people try to act like it's not sexual? It's really a lot easier to explain to someone, "oh, yeah, it's just a silly fetish I have, nbd" than, "the furry fandom is a big part of my life and how I live it".

Hello, Papabear! 

I need some relationship help, Ive been with this girl who isn't in the Fandom I have tried to introduce her but it just didn't appeal to her for the most part. The main issue is the fact that every date we go on she doesn't seem to be amused in any shape or form even the dates that she herself planned out.

I stayed the night at her dorm room when we both were still in college and instead of saying "Good Night" or "Sleep Well" I got "You know if my Dad seen you sleeping there, he most likely kill you." (I was sleeping on the couch in the living room she was in her own room that has a locked door.) I didn't sleep well at all that night and ended up passing out in class, Every date, any conversation always ends up talking about her dad or her family. I try and move the topic onto her or even me, but it always ends up back on that.

I guess what I am getting at is I want to break up with her, but I am not sure how to go about it> The spark that was there when we first met and within the first few months has all but died out and I want to try and not hurt her feelings and maybe still be friends with her. 

This is my first real relationship. Most of my past ones have ended with my mate cheating on me and that's an easy breakup right there, so I had it easy until now. 

Did I make a mistake of trying to date someone out of the Fandom and thinking I can try and introduce them to it?

Dear Arctickitsu,

No, the mistake is not that you dated outside the fandom (I did, and have been in a nine-year relationship with a non-furry). Nor is it with trying to introduce her to the fandom (again, I told my mate I was a furry and have taken him to cons; although he’s not a furry, he enjoys the experience). It’s simply the mistake of not being with the right person, furry or not. Frankly, based on what you’ve told me here, I have to wonder what the appeal is with this woman, and I don’t blame you at all for not feeling a spark anymore. I mean, pardon me, but yuck. Did she really say, “You know if my Dad seen you sleeping there, he most likely kill you”? Is English even her first language? I have many foreign friends who speak better than this.

She’s already given you an easy out that you can use as an excuse. Here’s your line: “I really don’t want to be killed by your father, and you seem pretty uncomfortable with this relationship, so I think it would be better if we were just friends.”

I honestly don’t think she’ll protest. In fact, Papabear strongly suspects that she is looking for a way out of this relationship, too. So give it to her, and better luck next time!
