Do you think people are going to start retaliation? Due to what happened at MWFF if it was on purpose conventions could be way more dangerous. The world is filled with crazy people and there might be someone or a group tracking down these conventions possibly trying to sabotage them, injure other furries etc. I just feel like you guys should be careful. I hope this isn't something that repeats it's self. Love you all! <3

This last week, and the week coming up was/is going to be two of the toughest I've had in a while. Last week school wrecked me- to be honest I couldn't wait to get out on Friday.

On Friday, last class block of the day, at the end, I pull out my phone, and check my messages. I'd gotten one from my (long distance relationship) girlfriend, and it was.. strange to say the least. It had a lot of "love you's" and there was mention of some.. pretty morbid stuff. Naturally, I was terrified. I run out right after the bell rings, and call her. It was loud outside, but I managed to get the gist of what was going on. She'd been hospitalized after an attempted suicide. She's been going through a really rough patch in her life. The call dropped, I tried to re-call, but no dice. I managed to get a hold of her father (who was with her) and he's been keeping me updated. Thing is now, she's being admitted to a psyche ward, and I won't have contact with her for 5-7 days. So, everything kinda sucks right now.

This weekend I've been keeping my mind off of it (with copious amounts of videogames and root beer) but it still sticks with me in my sleep. We're always in a Skype call as we sleep (so we can sleep together :D) but with her not being here it feels strange. So I've been browsing the various furry subreddits while I lay sleepless, and they've.. really cheered me up. This'll probably get buried in the number of amazing art posts and such, but I still wanted to say thank you, r/furry. You've all collectively kept me sane :3

edit/update: I got a text from her directly today. Reminded me she loved me, and that was really it. It's still good to hear from her :)

Also: golden retriever or polar bear?

Over the past few months (mostly in the past few weeks) I've been dabbling around in the furry fandom because it looks kind of cool. Finally, today I decided to create a fursona, but to be honest, I don't really understand what I'm doing. I get that it has to be uniquely tailored to me, from the colors to the clothes to the personality, but I don't know where to start. I sketched this canine http://i.imgur.com/jQM48ML.png just as a place to start, and the personality will be my own, but how do I pick colors? Are there certain colors which are symbolic to certain things? Some of my furry friends suggested I stick to natural colors like brown, gray, or black, but I really like blue. This is something I've been wondering for a long time. The majority of my furry friends are gay or bisexual, and the polls I've seen also confirm this. I myself am hetero-flexible, and don't care about gender as far as furries or my imagination goes fer the most part. My theory is that everybody is already a little bit gay, sexuality is a spectrum, and furries tend to be more open minded about stuff in general because we're a weird bunch to begin with. Couple that with an accepting (sometimes too much so) atmosphere and you get a group of people that are way more real with themselves than most.
