Bot down, need some feedback. (Cloudflare browser check)

Furry Reddit - Wed 17 Dec 2014 - 18:24

Update: browser checks are required when "under attack" mode is activated. Every time FA feels is under a ddos, the bot will not mirror FA links and cosidering the way fa bot handles errors (one thread, wait and retry twice), other sites mirrors will be slower.

API endpoints are not affected by this (fa does not have API endpoints)

FurAffinity seems to have enabled cludflare's Browser checks. In essence, any bot-like activity is given an HTTP 503 (temporary unavailable) error.

Is late here in Euro so I will try to work arround this tomorrow but if you have any idea on how to let a bot get through this, drop a line.

Server can be VPN'd into. I can login correctly usin firefox/opera from the server IP.
Bot also has, in theory, the hability to store cookies when mandated but that is not 'good enough' for flare.

(Reposted ;)

I don't want to deploy a real firefox on a headless server. Do you know how tedious is to setup an Xserver on a normal machine? Can you imagine doing so without a screen?

Weird Question: If half-animal/anthropomorphic animal people were commonplace in society, would furries be viewed the same way/how would they be viewed?

Furry Reddit - Wed 17 Dec 2014 - 18:20

Okay, I know this is a kind of weird question, but there is logic to it. First of all, a little context.

I'm writing an urban/modern fantasy story where half-animals (think kitsune/cat-girl/etc.) amongst many other fantasy races exist alongside humans (some are more common than others). While most of them live in the wild, a significant number of them sought shelter in human societies following the Great War, which after many years, they became a minority in said society. They themselves aren't heavily oppressed, though most non-humans are generally looked-down upon and cast aside by humans in general.

In such a world, do you think furries (the fandom) would be looked down upon the way they are here? If not, how would people react to furries? I have a general idea myself, but I wanted to hear you guys' opinions.

Again, sorry for the weird question... ._.'

How do you guys get out of artblock?

Furry Reddit - Wed 17 Dec 2014 - 18:14

Asking because I've had a bit of an artblock for a few weeks now. My longest has been like... 7-8 months but now I need a week to actually draw >n> I can't draw digitally right now but for some reason Traditional is a lot easier for me to sketch in, even though I like manipulating my lines on Digital. But Im gonna have a few weeks vacation early Jan, so I really wanna get out of this funk and actually work on stuff. How have you guys been able to draw again?

Kinda curious..

Furry Reddit - Wed 17 Dec 2014 - 16:02

What's it like being a furry? I'm considering jumping into the fandom, since I actually quite like animals, but I'm a bit confused. So, I thought I'd ask you guys, since you're a part of the fandom. --Setsu

Art

Furry Reddit - Wed 17 Dec 2014 - 13:04

Hey fluffy butts, this may be a mini rant... if so I apologise D:

I've been browsing through FA looking at amazing artists and bits of art,

My question is tho, If your paying $100+ for a commission, would you not expect a physical copy? I understand shipping ect , so like depending on the cost would depend on the material/quality it was printed?

I mean ive seen amazing art pieces by truly talented artists, but will cost $500+... Now if I payed someone that much money for a piece of art... I dunno I would kind of expect a physical copy, not just a link online?

It might just be me tbh! Sorry for the random post/rant ><

Do ya' know THIS webcomic?

Furry Reddit - Wed 17 Dec 2014 - 12:05

Yo! I'm looking for a webcomic. It's at least three years old, but seems older. It doesn't continue to run, but was in fact one completed story. You could call it a graphic novel.

The story revolved around feral animals who had "holobrains" seperating them from wild animals, granting them sentience and intellectual faculty. The main character was a male fox, and his counterpart was a snarky female cat. The cat had developed an ability to split herself into four/more forms, while the fox developed an ability to let himself use "100%!" of his holobrain capacity, at significant physical cost.

The art style was sketchy but the anatomy was phenomenal. It was short, perhaps 50 pages. Any luck?
