It's Midnight! It's my Birthday!

Furry Reddit - Sat 10 Jan 2015 - 03:15

Oh nooooo! Where do I go stand in line to collect my mid-life crisis kit? I'm 35 and I still like cartoons?!

Officially Furry at 14, as that was when my family got our first PC, it was a 266 mherz machine. It had 2500 megs of HDD space. Top of the line back then. Our first ISP was WOW! Before we even got the PC I remember being in high school, trying to come up with a name. I was [] this close to being a HappyFox. But since Killer Instinct was new at the time, I went with Wulf instead. I could never figure out how to conenct to IRC back then tho, so I instead went to the browser-based chat communities. WBS or "Web Broadcasting System" was my main haunt. I would only go to the Fantasy Tavern where I was just a big non-anthro wolf. Then I discovered FurNation. Back when it was only a collection of a couple dozen artist's personal web pages.

It's now been 21 years since then. I've been a Furry for longer than most of you have been alive. ;3 My first FurCon was ConFurence 9 in 1998, which also happened to be right after my birthday. I remember artist Cataroo gave me a free head sketch because I was a poor little kid who rode his bike to the Con (It was right down the street from me). I remember the Bubble Bobble machine upstairs that was giving out free games and there was a line of furs playing vs. on it. I remember CF10 that was at a large-lot-one-story hotel. You had to walk across the entire con to get anywhere. Furries lost weight at that con.

Sometimes I wonder what all the people I used to know are doing these days. I've barely kept in touch with any of them. Now i'll stop ranting before I become a bitter-vet. ;3

Isn't SFW/NSFW irrelevant with furry stuff?

Furry Reddit - Sat 10 Jan 2015 - 03:13

I mean, two reasons:

1: I don't think many bosses would like to see someone they hired on FA.

2: Maybe, just maybe, you should be doing your

Note: This is a bit of a joke, but I still think with furry stuff, you can pretty much say all of it is NSFW. What do you think/what are your experiences?

Maybe I'm just cynical, but just sayin' :p The only relevance it seems to have is whether I'll look behind me before clicking it ;p

Watch Him, If You Dare

In-Fur-Nation - Sat 10 Jan 2015 - 02:59

Quick on the bouncing furry heels of All Hail King Julien, Dreamworks Animation presents the premier of The Adventures of Puss in Boots — coming to Netflix later this month. “The Adventures of Puss in Boots finds the world’s most famous feline fortune-hunter in the hidden city of San Lorenzo, a mythical land that is invisible to the outside world thanks to a magical spell that protects its quirky inhabitants — not to mention its wondrous treasure. When Puss in Boots accidentally breaks the spell, he must do more than fight off an endless legion of invaders and marauders — he must become a legend.” According to an article over at Animation World Network, five episodes will premier on the 16th with more to follow. Soon, the tide of original Dreamworks programming for Netflix will include new episodes of Dreamworks Dragons and the new series Dinotrux.

How is life outside the fandom? (Possibly depressing)

Furry Reddit - Fri 9 Jan 2015 - 23:41

Personally, I'm struggling, and I'm depressed.

So much tough times involving economic, social, and emotional points.

I've said some things here I regret, and I apoligized. But I'm grtting witch-hunted (Downvoting every post or comment I make) Even on /r/suicidewatch im getting downvotes.

Anyone here want to share? I can give support if needed.

And if you're the guy who's doing this, (it's at least 2 people) FUCKING STOP.

Daily dose of introduction thread.

Furry Reddit - Fri 9 Jan 2015 - 23:02

Hey all, I decided to finally make one of these after hanging around for a while and deciding to try being more social! Anyways as my flair says I'm some sort of fluffy lizard that I haven't fully worked out yet (think something between a dragon and a sergal). For things I like to do I play a lot of video games and have recently taken up sewing which I seem to be decent at. If anyone wants to play some Payday 2, War Thunder, or just chat feel free to add me on Steam, username there is just Novo with a sleepy Typhlosion as my icon.

He Needs Ideas to Raise Money for a School Drama Program Trip to NYC

Ask Papabear - Fri 9 Jan 2015 - 21:43
Hi PapaBear!

I'm trying to raise money for a music/drama class trip to the NYC.

Here's the Letter.

December 2, 2014

Dear Papabear,

Coming this spring, April 2015, there is an opportunity for students involved in the Briggsdale High School Drama program to attend the Broadway Student Summit workshops in New York, New York. This opportunity is very exciting for the students to observe and participate in drama and the theatrical arts at its finest. Being from a very small rural community, this opportunity comes very rarely for many students who attend this school. It is exciting that over 50 percent of the students who attend Briggsdale High School are involved in the drama program, and they will be able to learn and apply their new found knowledge and skills about drama and acting.

Students will attend workshops that will enhance their acting and theatrical ability. Some workshops include: Vocal Interpretation, Stage Combat, Acting Techniques, and even will attend a Musical Theatre Audition Class. Another highlight of this trip will be going to a Broadway production, Les Miserables, and interact with Broadway cast members.

This is an incredible opportunity in which our high school students will participate. However, with many great opportunities, comes great cost. The drama program and students are expected to raise enough money to be able to participate in this incredible event.

Would you please consider sponsoring us financially so students would be able to participate in this opportunity? Any amount is greatly appreciated, and will go completely for funding this experience.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Briggsdale Drama Club

So if you have any suggestions or help for my/our fundraising.?

Thanks,
Failaria Talerum (age 16)

Dear Failaria,

That's a wonderful opportunity for you, and I hope you make it there. There's a great performing arts program here in my valley, too, with students trying to raise money to go to New York City and see Broadway shows and also get behind-the-scenes looks into the production of a Broadway play.

When I was in school and there was a program to raise money, it usually involved me and my peers going door-to-door selling candy and whatnot. You can also try having a local fundraiser, such as a car wash, bake sale, garage sales, and the like.

You and your fellow students could partner with a company that sells products, part of the money from which goes to your trip. Companies that partner with students for fundraisers include:

  • Con Yeager offers spices for fundraisers
  • Or create school logo items at the School Spirit Store
  • And there are catch-all sites like ABC Fundraising that list a whole bunch of different products you can sell. (They are not BBB accredited, so be a little cautious here, although I have found no complaints against ABC, either.)

There are also websites where you simply set up a page and ask people for money for your cause, which can be almost anything. Some examples are GoFundMe.com and GiveForward.com. These sites allow you to set up a donation page, which you can then tell people about on places like Facebook or other social sites.

One more option would be to set up your own website and put a donate button on the site. If you use PayPal, you can set up a direct link with your bank, generate html code, and insert that into your website.

Hopefully, this will give you some ideas to help. Run these by your school teachers and your parents to get their input.

Good luck!
Papabear

Are there any Trans Furries?

Furry Reddit - Fri 9 Jan 2015 - 19:25

Hi, so recently I came out as transgender (Mtf) to my close relatives but I'm starting to realize now I don't have any trans friends... So that's gonna change! And since furries are awesome and nice, I thought I'd ask them for some friends! :P I'm only 15 but I don't really care what your age is, I have Steam, Skype, and Kik to message people on. Also I don't want to be selfish so if anyone else wants to have more than just me as a friend remember to say so in a comment! :)

Furries In The Media - Fri 9 Jan 2015 - 18:15
http://thesource.com/2014/12/18/furry-fandom-fetishists-attacked-with-chlorine-gas-19-hospitalized-after-the-hate-crime/

This journalist matter-of-factly calls the MWFF chemical attack a "hate crime" and "sabotage by anti-furry fetish terrorists." See if you can make sense of the bizarre description of the author at the end of the article.
