I'm not making a throwaway for this. Why bother? I'm tired of hiding.

Like many of you around my age range (nearing 30), you grew up with the onslaught of anthro animals in television shows and movies in the late 80's to mid 90's. Don Bluth, Disney, and Warner Brothers to name a few. I have loved the appeal and the art style for the longest time.

I admit, I'd tell my friends that I hated furries; but in secret, I admired them. I admired the ability to not care what others say and just enjoy what you love doing and being a part of. I love the artistic talent that I saw, the love for others and respect for community members, the craftsmanship of fursuits...

It wasn't so much that I hated furries and tried to convince myself that I detested them for the same reason that closed minded ignorants did. I hated myself for being one. Or denying that I was one. It's complicated.

(sigh) I want to..."come out" finally, as a furry. I want to feel comfortable in my own skin (fur?) without the overwhelming fear of being judged as....well....I needn't repeat it, you all are more than painfully aware of what people say about furries.

What...what should I do?

(Not that it matters, but for the record I am female)

I'm a rather poor and closeted furry, mainly because I have such a RIDICULOUS time trying to find other fellow furries in my area! I was wondering and maybe asking for advice on how to make morefurry friends? Most of my current friends are either against the fandom or have no opinion on it so most of the time when I have exciting news or updates on my fursona/ furr ocs, I can't really introduce and explain without getting the stupid question "Why does it have to be a furry?" My mom is also highly against it, saying anyone who says they're a furry is someone in need of mental help. plz help a lonely fur ;-; I live about an hour outside of LA and was wondering if and how I get to meetups and/or get invited to them.

I'm really depressed and I need people to talk to. my anxiety is controlling my life and my aspirations and goals I've set for myself aren't coming to fruition. I'm just scared of the future and I could really use some people to talk to. this is a shitty time to post this, considering my medication is about to knock me out (btw sorry for typos) and im going to bed. I'd love more than anything in the world to wake up and be greeted by this community and have you guys help me through this tough part of my life. thanks, and goodnight.

Title. I want to practice more, and I want to draw a bunch of different characters and types, so I'd love to take some requests and try them out! I'm not the best artist, so I wouldn't expect too much if I were you, but I'd still like to try!

Thanks for all of the suggestions guys! I'll keep accepting them if someone new happens along this thread. Like I said, I'm not the best artist, but I like trying and I want to improve. There's a furry convention coming up in my area, and I'm unsure whether it would be worth it to attend. There's a possibility it could be awesome and I could meet great people, but there's also the possibility of spending two hours on a bus to then be miserable all day.

Input from people with anxiety problems who have previously attended cons themselves would be great.

Hello I am somewhat new to being a furry. I have never met any recent furs and also am very shy. I would like to chat with some nice furs (appropriate and no yiff conversations).
