Posted by Digger on Sat 25 Oct 2003 - 21:03Oh no.
'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' will be running an episode on October 30, 8pm est (CBS) titles (get ready...)
"Fur and Loathing"
Evidently it takes place at a furry con. The preview I saw last night included quite a few fursuiting actors.
I'm hoping against all hope there is a gilmmer of the positive in this, but you and I both know how well popular media has treated us in the past....
mwalimu remarks: Although the episode in question had not aired yet, this is old news to many of us by now, and has been the subject of a thread or two already here on flayrah.
Further Confusion Makes the Paper
Posted by Aureth on Mon 27 Jan 2003 - 00:20The TriValley Herald interviewed several Further Confusion staff members, including chairman Lee Strom, for an article
in their Thursday edition. A nice piece, compared to past writeups fandom conventions have gotten.

Furnpike shuts down
Posted by Giza on Thu 20 Sep 2001 - 06:01Going to furnpike.com now treats the user to this message:
The Furnpike, as well as FurComics.com will be closing Friday, September 14, 2001, permanently. This is due to an extreme lack of support and appreciation of the very communities which use this network daily. It is a shame that more Furs and Werefans can't give $1 or a thanks to help out their favourite sites, and expect someone else to front the bills to keep their appreciations going.
It's a pity that Furnpike is going down, I found the site fairly useful, even if some categories on it were a bit sparse...
FurBuy Ceases Operations, blames FurBid
Posted by Anon on Sat 15 Sep 2001 - 09:08Owner of FurBuy states, "We are baffled and amazed, even schocked, that the continued support of the fandom goes to a piece-mail auction system hacked together by an underage individual using a bug-ridden, featureless auction script freely available from the internet. "
World Trade Center Hit by Two Planes
Posted by Micah on Tue 11 Sep 2001 - 08:46This site is good for getting information on the survivors, and how you can help: wtc.toto.com. Also, you can donate money to the Red Cross through Amazon; they keep no part of the proceeds: ttp://www.amazon.com/paypage/PKAXFNQH7EKCX.
There's no definite person to pin the terrorist attacks on. The twin towers of the World Trade Center and a nearby building have collapsed. The Pentagon is damaged. A fourth hijacked plane crashed near Pittsburg. The Pittsburg crash is thought to have been related to a possible attempt on Camp David. Five warships have been deployed to guard the east coast of America, and two aircraft carriers have been dispatched to New York. All air-traffic is grounded
There is much call for both blood donations and monetary. Phone numbers to call for information about giving either:
1-800-HELP-NOW (money)
1-800-GIV-LIFE (blood)
OR 1-888-BLOOD-88
Review: 'The Lion King' 2019
Posted by 2cross2affliction on Sun 28 Jul 2019 - 07:38"Be prepared!"
- Boy Scout motto
"No, hold on. Sorry, that's The Lion King."
- Doctor Who, "The Christmas Invasion"
The Lion King is a 2019 movie directed by Jon Favreau. It is a faithful adaptation of the 1994 animated movie of the same name, using cutting edge, realistic CGI animation to create it's cast consisting entirely of talking animals.
The original version is considered a classic of animation; this movie follows the original closely enough that most of its positive attributes are contained. There is enough deviation from the original that those familiar may get something new from the experience. Like most adaptations, most viewers will find the "original" is preferable, however.
So, that's the review, okay, bye!
Stealth vs blatant and the "Mouse Problem"; furry coverage in fictional media
Posted by JoeStrike on Thu 2 Aug 2018 - 17:28As repeated media victims we furs are always on the lookout for furry references— good, bad or indifferent— on TV and elsewhere. There are two distinct styles in which our fandom is covered: bluntly by name, and more subtly. It’s easy to identify the former, but sometimes it’s more fun when they don’t use the 'F-word' to describe the group in which they are referencing in their content. In those instances, it seems more a stealthy shout-out for our animal-ears only, designed to fly over the head of anyone who doesn’t get it.
Today I wish to go over some of those moments in furry media that seem to hold general fandom idioms and how fun 'situational nuance' can be.
Review: 'Avengers: Infinity War'
Posted by 2cross2affliction on Mon 7 May 2018 - 23:27To begin, a little bit of justification as to why I'm reviewing this. In addition to being the 19th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Avengers three ... point five ... ish, this movie is also essentially Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2.5. And seeing as how that team just won its second motion picture Ursa Major by a pretty good margin over historically fierce competition, well, this is a team furries apparently care about, even if it's really just Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) bringing the furry.
Next, a little bit of warning. This movie ends on what could be a cliffhanger which may totally be retconned out of existence by the end of next year's Untitled Avengers Film, or maybe not, in which case there is a lot, a lot, of stuff to spoil. Now, people have a tendency to act, well, spoiled about spoilers, which basically didn't exist before Alfred Hitchcock invented the idea to promote Psycho, despite the fact that the trailer consists of Hitchcock giving the game away, since it doesn't matter.
However, there's no need to be rude, so I'm not going into the ending, other than I think I will reveal Rocket's fate, so you know whether or not, as a furry, you should just give up on this Marvel Cinematic Universe or not.
But I'll do that after the break, so if you don't want to know, well, don't click "read more".
