Your rating: None Average: 4.2 (13 votes)

TLC's My Strange Addiction is to feature furries on an episode airing January 19. [DeoVacuus]

Kiira, an amateur fursuit builder, was paid $1500 for her appearance.

Producers of the show have been looking for furs since mid-2010, and also sought to buy fursuit photography. Other announced episodes cover sleeping with a blow-drier, eating toilet paper and thumb-sucking, while past seasons featured eating chalk and extreme tanning.

Many furs fear a repeat of The Tyra Banks Show, whose host presented furry as a sexual fetish.

Your rating: None Average: 1.8 (30 votes)

Contrary to popular belief, the furry fandom did not originate before the 1970's, nor were we the first anthropomorphic fandom.

Website seeks members to offer 'Welcome' to fellow furs

Welcome, Fur mascot, by KnoxEver wondered if you could stay with a fur rather than pay through the nose for impersonal accommodation? Welcome, Fur intends to help.

Spanish developer Salmy – better known as creator of a Fur Affinity to Inkbunny transfer script and admin of Furry Madridexplains his motivation:

How many times you've seen [on FA] people writing journals about going somewhere and looking for lodging, or other people looking for roommates? I have given a place to stay to plenty of furs for many years, but most times I wanted to go somewhere I found out I had to pay for a hotel and, what's worse, I never knew if there were other furs in that place willing to meet other people. That's why I went for it and I'm developing this new site.

Currently in alpha testing, the site is open to interested users willing to give feedback.

Researchers argue for dolphin personhood

Your rating: None Average: 4 (4 votes)

Should dolphins be treated as 'non-human people'? That's the argument of some scientists and ethical researchers, who claim their sense of self, social talents, relative brain size, and ability to perform complex tasks put them second only to humans. [Soulskill/Slashdot]

The point was also made last year at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science – publishers of the well-known journal Science.
