The subreddit, rules, and mod manpower.

Furry Reddit - Sun 4 Oct 2015 - 11:31

So first off let me say that I love this subreddit. It pretty much made me be active being a furry, and got me into the community, and I met so many great friends through it. It is by far my favorte subreddit and my favorite forum/message board/whatever

Now, that being said I think there's a few problems going on here, the biggest being the lack of mods. The mods are mostly totally hands off on everything, I'm not sure if this is due to lack of time or due to wanting the sub this way. But it can take hours and hours for a mod to show up to a thread that desperately needs one. Honestly I think this subreddit needs a few more, actually hands on mods. Most of the time I really only see one that is enforcing the rules and I don't think that's big enough for a subreddit that has 20,000 subscribers.

Another, and I know this is beaten to death but the rules. They need to be actually enforced and concrete but fair. There's been so many threads where a rule has or hasn't been followed and instead of discussion about the post we have discussion about the rule and users trying to self-moderate and enforce the rules. This just sucks. I'm tired of EVERY thread that's borderline being arguing to death about if it breaks he rules or not. We need hard yes/no answers about if it does.

Same with the personal attacks rule, this NEEDS to be more strictly enforced. Yes, I'm aware that would probably result in myself being punished but if I broke the rules I deserve it. But the fact that one or two users stuck around here for months despite trolling an insane amount and lots of personal attacks really is driving me away from the sub. It doesn't happen all that often but the fact that some of these guys can stick around for so long is crazy to me. Punishments for breaking rules in general need to be handed out more swiftly and consistently.

So yeah, thanks for reading my ramblings, these are just my opinions on stuff on this sub. Go ahead and send me hatemail over it.

tl;dr we need more hands on mods, absolute rules, and consistent punishments.

This Will Take You Back. Way-Back.

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 4 Oct 2015 - 01:59

You might recall that last year Dreamworks Animation’s CGI take on Mr. Peabody & Sherman was rather a disappointment at the box office according to some analysts. Evidently though that didn’t dampen Dreamworks’ interest in the characters as now they bring us The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show. It’s coming to Netflix this Friday, this time in a more traditional 2D animated version. According to the article at Cartoon Brew, “In the new series, Mr. Peabody (voiced by Chris Parnell) and his boy Sherman (Max Charles) host a talk show from their New York City penthouse, in which they interview historical figures like George Washington and Edgar Allen Poe. They also embark on time travel adventures in their WABAC machine visiting the likes of Cleopatra, Mozart, and Marco Polo.” There are also musical numbers to be had, and Cartoon Brew has a preview of one of them — as well as the show’s opening.

Best way to brainstorm OC/Fursona design for non-artists?

Furry Reddit - Sun 4 Oct 2015 - 01:09

I'm sure most people have experienced trying something that sounds amazing in their head, but in practice it's not a good idea at all. Sometimes it can be an important part of the design. So it's not realistic to request/commission every single/few changes you make to a fursona's appearance to see if that's the case.

So how would you suggest someone who is terrible with art to go about doing such a thing?

My mind just could never comprehend how to turn 3D into 2D. So I'm trying to learn Blender (a 3D art program) today to see if that goes any better. I just wasn't sure if you guys had any better ideas.

Maybe it's because people kept waking me up every 2-3 hours I tried to sleep today, but I couldn't find anything on this subject, anywhere. Let's just say that due to being a bit impatient due to lack of sleep, halloween coming around (my favorite holiday, and bats are kind of associated with halloween quite a bit), and someone nuking my character design folder by accident really made me want to make this post (as opposed to fuddling around in the character design folder with the illusion of making progress on designing the fursona itself because I feel bad for requesting stuff to see how my ideas have progressed).

Thanks in advance if I don't wake up in time to reply.
