So guys and gals, this is an attempt I'm making at writing comedy stories. Tell me what you guys think!

The school bell just rang and the small little furries came out from lunch, flocking into the playground for a half-hour of recess.

Recess! The 30 minutes where you could be a kid! The balls were already at the court from the session a couple minutes earlier! The hoops were wizzing about, either on a feline girl’s hips or rolled around, being chased by a dog. The dogs everywhere were tossing and catching sticks. The birds were on the slides and monkey bars. The whistle of the supervisor would go off every couple minutes followed by a “Put that kid down!” or a “Stop shocking others, Jerry!” (Jerry had static electricity problems.)

Meanwhile, a small brown labrador was holding the ball for the game of tetherball.

“And what do I do with this again?” Ricky asked, observing its volleyball features.

“You just hit it and it goes around the pole while I try to hit it back.” Jimmy, his cat best friend, explained.

“Ok!” And so, Ricky surprisingly jumped to a height of ten feet and proceeded to spike the ball. Jimmy, shocked by Ricky’s jumping, just barely managed to get in the way as the ball made its dent in the asphalt.

Lying on the floor, Jimmy looked up at Ricky’s innocent smile. “You want to do something else?” The cat asked. The dog nodded happily.

Meanwhile, an older dalmatian with a pink cast was playing cards with his best friend Cal, a boxer.

“Pick a card.” Tom smiled. Cal moved his fingers as Tom moved the fan of cards. The boxer managed to grab one and groaned.

“Yes!” The dalmatian screamed.

“I’ve got Old Maid again… How’s your leg feeling buddy?” Cal asked.

“Fine. That turtle did a number on me though.” Tom said as a big cat came from the shadows. This was Luther. The brown tomcat normally hogged the balls at the b-ball court. His cat friends came from behind him. Today though, he was in the mood for cards...

“Hello there Tom. I can’t help notice your cards.”

“Get away! They’re mine! I brought them!” The dalmatian snatched them and held them close to his chest. However, with his cast, he couldn’t get away and the deck was taken from him.

“Hi there!” Ricky appeared with Jimmy. Jimmy noticed his big brother.

“What are you doing this time Luther?” He asked, cautious.

“Oh you know. Just playing cards with my dear friend here.” Luther leaned on Tom who shook his head violently. Nononononononono!

“Let’s play a game!” Ricky interrupted, oblivious to the current predicament. To Luther, this wacky kid presented more meat than a pack of cards.

“Oh really? How about…” He paused for dramatic effect. “basketball!” One of Luther’s friends sounded, “dum-dum-duum!”

“Hey, where’s Jimmy?” Cal asked, looking for the cat who’d disappeared.

“Ok!” Ricky replied to Luther happily, his tail wagging furiously. This created a strong enough breeze for pups to stand behind and cool down.

Luther was confused by this dog’s happy personality but smile nonetheless. The cat’s team met with Ricky on the court, the gaming being one on one.

Ricky had the ball first. “Baseball right?”

“No, basketball.” Luther growled.

“Ok.” Ricky took a baseball bat from nowhere, tossed the basketball and hitted it towards one of Luther’s friends who dodged.

“Fine! You want to play baseball?” The tomcat growled.

“Ok!” Ricky found a baseball and tossed it. It went into the basketball net.

“Argh!” Luther grabbed Ricky by his jacket. “Just play the game!”

“Tennis?” Ricky smiled a little.

While Luther stood there, confused, Ricky managed to get out of his grip, grab a bowling ball and rolled it towards several cheerleaders doing the pyramid. As it hit them, all ten began to fall down until two were left.

“Drat! A split!” Ricky stared angrily at the lousy set-up.

“Now look here.” Luther didn’t care what the kid did, he just wanted to beat him to a pulp. “Come and stand before me!”

“Ok!” Ricky took out his lunch bag and started eating a sandwich from it. “Want some chips?” He asked Luther. The tomcat threw the Old Maid cards back at Tom and stomped towards Ricky.

Unfortunately, he tripped over Jimmy who turned out to be catnapping on the floor. He wailed a loud meow as he flailed helplessly and face-planted on the concrete. Luther was still, still as a mayfly after 24 hours.

A couple days later…

“Care to join me for Old Maid?” Tom asked Luther with a smile, poking some fun at the cat’s purple cast.

“No! Now leave me alone!” The cat yowled back.

“But it’s purple! Don’t girls like Old Maid?” The dalmatian teased.

“Purple is the color of death! Besides this is all they had… ” Luther sulked until he saw a bowling ball headed toward him. He yelled as he barely managed to get out of the way, then growled at a happy Ricky. “I don’t want to play tennis…” He sulked even more.

Looks like Ricky's having fun!
