Furry Con Raves

Furry Reddit - Tue 24 Nov 2015 - 07:53

I haven't been to a con so please correct me, but most of them seem to end on a dance party/rave type atmosphere. is this true for most?

Shhh! (Gesundheit!)

In-Fur-Nation - Tue 24 Nov 2015 - 02:59

Animation World Network has a recent article about two more new animated shows that were presented at MIPCON this year — both of them produced by m4e in Germany. Wissper is “… a CGI animated TV-series aimed at young girls ages 4 to 7. Wissper is a perfectly normal little girl, but she has a very special talent: She is the only girl in the world who can talk to animals! Creatures of all shapes and sizes seem to instinctively know that when they have a problem, Wissper will find the solution. This makes Wissper’s house the first port of call for animals in distress.” The first set of episodes are supposed to premier world-wide before the end of December. And then, there’s Atchoo! Another animated series, this time targeted at slightly older boys and girls.  You see, there’s this young boy named Teo, with an unusual attribute: When he gets excited or upset, he sneezes… and instantly turns into an animal.  Different each time. “The series offers loads of comedy, gags and funny dialogues, but all the fun is aimed at communicating an important message, that difficulties, fears and diversity are not necessarily all bad, but can engender endurance and originality.” That’s what they said folks! Atchoo! is scheduled to hit the world in 2017.

Hello

Furry Reddit - Tue 24 Nov 2015 - 00:36

Hello, /r/furry ! I'm not a furry myself however my boyfriend is, and he introduced me to this fandom. (I hope fandom is the correct terminology) Anyway, at first I was skeptical and then he introduced me and I was really wow-ed. I haven't joined the fandom mainly because I don't want to piggy back on what he enjoys, I think he should have something to himself. But, I just wanted to say from a non furry stand point, I think you guys all seem really incredible. Many of you are so incredibly talented and creative! You're community also seems so nice and full of cool people. Some of the art I've seen has even made me emotional. In short, I'm glad I was introduced and think it's great. So, even if it doesn't mean much coming from someone like me, you guys have a non furry supporter. :)

We round up as many generic questions you’d find at a Writing 101 panel and try to answer them all. Did we get all the questions? Probably not, but hopefully these don’t need to be asked anymore because they’ve already been answered here! Think of it like a big Writing FAQs section.

AMA while I'm waiting for my laundry to finish, and because I'll probably be on for a while anyway.

Furry Reddit - Tue 24 Nov 2015 - 00:27

Hey, I'm Traedon. I've been on both this subreddit and reddit itself now for a little over two-three weeks, so I'm pretty sure I don't know many of you that well.

If you've got any questions, ask away. I'm sure I'll make some new friends tonight. :3

I think I am converted.

Furry Reddit - Mon 23 Nov 2015 - 23:39

I just read "Two Kinds" in its entirety.

I have no idea why I started or how I found it... I've never been into this kind of stuff...

BUT I FREAKING LOVED IT.

I loved every bit of it! I loved the art style (and how it progressed as the comic went on), I loved the characters and their personalities that felt so real, and how it went so well with how they looked. I loved that everyone was an animal, even though I had apparently convinced myself that I didn't ever like it. I loved the comic so much I decided that I might like other stuff like it... and I think I do.

I... think I AM that kind of person. But I don't think I want the yiff (is that it?) or anything like that... at least not yet. I didn't think I was open to furry at all but I was wrong about that. I don't know.

BUT I came here and decided I liked it so I subscribed and made a flair and everything! Is there something I should know? I haven't been a part of many fandoms (just one) and I know they can be rough, but is there like some general things I should know being new?

Thanks for taking the time to read~

(hope I'm not doing something wrong already)

Late Night Ponderings: A Reflection on our Character, Ourselves, and Tomorrow

Furry Reddit - Mon 23 Nov 2015 - 22:57

Not our fursonas, but who we are beyond the pretty flairs and the computer screens. Let's think about who we are as individuals. Take a moment to empathize and just soak in that common passion we all share.

I think beyond the fursonas, we are all trying diligently to become authentic human beings.

I mean, we're looking for that true-blue human experience, you know? The joy and the rush, the lingering glow of reflecting on a hard-earned achievement, like reaching that weight goal, getting that degree, or finishing that hard-worked novel.

I know that beyond these screens, some of us go to bed at night with red eyes, wondering to ourselves is significance even possible? And I know that we're all thinking about the mythical superman, and that special kind of people or ideal that's going to inherit the earth and bring it to utopia. There's an ember in us that yearns for the day when we can have confidence that tomorrow's going to be all right for every person.

Now, this brings me back to fursonas. They usually represent or endear something in them. Not just in their species, but in their attitudes and interests. Sometimes they're us, but they're the more exotic us, the us that has achieved the dream of being unique and significant, to be meaningful to a special group of people that they've chosen to have in their hearts and lives. Perhaps something we dread, though claim to have accepted emotionally, is the idea of the world being the same as it always has been if we never were.

Well, I'm going to say it and say it proudly. I do think you folks are significant. Not just locally significant, but like, globally significant. Perhaps even Butterfly Effect significant. Though perhaps the world will keep spinning if some of us were to disappear, or be forgotten, I know that we hold a place in the lives of hundreds, many of which we can't think of off the tops of our heads or count on our fingers. Things are connected, like ripples in the water. Not everyone can be an astronaut, and perhaps some people just have to be garbage men for the rests of their lives. Perhaps we can consider our significance in our sacrifices, like working long hours on weekends so that a family hard-pressed for cash can at least go for a nice dinner at Waffle House. And perhaps we can consider our significance in at least speaking, being understood, or sharing our thoughts; have you ever considered the power of inspiration? Ideas don't just die - not so, they end living and growing inside of people as little stirrings, little grains of sand that one day turn into pearls. You may not become an astronaut, or the president, or a CEO, or even the shift manager, but perhaps you can be, and that might just be enough for someone's inspiration to change become a better person. Be inspiring, all of you, be significant in all the little, healthy ways.

Alright. That's all I got to say. Ni-ni.

What is one quote your fursona has said that either sums itself up or its perspective on life?

Furry Reddit - Mon 23 Nov 2015 - 21:33

What has your fursona said?

Personally, "I am Topaz Colite. That is who I am, who I always have been, and who I always will be."

"I only judge actions, not people."
