Due to the considerable hotel damage that occurred at the last Rainfurrest, they've been unable to find a venue anywhere in the Seattle area this year. The vice-chair announced on twitter that the board will be voting soon on whether to move to Spokane, or to shut down.

Spokane is a small town, five hours drive east of Seattle - in a very rural setting, with limited flights. It also has a reputation for being a bit redneck and homophobic, so many are concerned it may not be an ideal venue for a furry con.

Hello, everybody. I'm a new artist hoping to get involved with the furry subreddit, so I made some flairs for a few users at random and I'm taking as many flair requests as I can. (Paging /u/AdmiralCheesecake /u/dbj49 /u/Patchesthelurker and /u/Pretzelbagel )

I'm finished with college for the semester and I've caught up on the games I wanted to play, so I've got nothing but time on my hands! Hallo! So, I have been seriously getting into animation lately, and I have found it quite fun (given I have patience).

So what I wanted to ask is if anyone out there is also into animating, and if so, could you perhaps share your favourite project?

What do a cat detective, plump mongoose, a taco stand and betrayal all have in common? They make some interesting flash fiction. Taking the theory of “I can’t tell people my ideas or they’ll steal them”, we took a bunch of suggestions and ideas, rolled some dice and gave each other the same prompt. Trying to be as specific as possible, we wrote our own stories. Did we all write the same thing? Listen and find out!

To frame each video, the F’d team put on their best local news outfits and introduce them alongside nonsensical anthro headlines (written largely in part by Patch O’Furr of Dogpatch.press and otherwise improvised). 6 videos total, plus 5 news clips from broadcast television.

Animal headed gods, a man transforms into a crow, and furry mutants…

They’re all related to the cinematic creativity of Alex Proyas.  He got famous as director of 1994’s cult movie The Crow.  Also see my piece uncovering his lost project, Freak’s Amour, that could have been the coolest post-nuclear mutant movie ever – except it was canceled by misfortune.  The Crow was influential on comic-book movies for a long time after, but for the past decade his career seemed kind of in a slump.  Now, his $140-million budget movie Gods Of Egypt is coming in February.  Check the trailer and see what you think. (It looks like Gods Of Overcooked CGI to me.)

Romania’s Dancing Bears (via Culturally F’d.)

The New York Times Lens photojournalism blog covers a tradition in the Trotus Valley of Romania.  It originated with the Romani people (also known by pejorative word Gypsies).  Bear-costumed performers “descended on homes every holiday season to chase away any bad spirits from the previous year.”  Says the photojournalist, Diana Zeyneb Alhindawi:

“I’m so happy to have done this,” she said. “There were so many times I wanted to put my camera down, put on a bearskin and join them. It’s really magical, like going into a fairy tale.”

Hey guys,

A while ago, /u/BASH_SCRIPTS_FOR_YOU posted a great little bash script that bulk downloads from e621.

I found it a few days ago and found that e621 had changed their website a bit, and that the script had broken! :(

I took this as a good time to lean bash scripting for myself, and a few hours later, this little guy was born!

It's using the e621 API, which was a first for me, but it should make it a touch faster than the original.

The documentation included is reasonable, but just in case you need a quick-start guide:

• Check out the script on github and make sure there's nothing nasty in there. If you're not sure, check with someone. You should never run random scripts off the internet (Thanks /u/ArgentStonecutter)
• Make yourself a directory to run it out of, as it will attempt to scan every folder that it's placed with.

• Download the script, for example using curl:

  curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Auscale/e6.sh/master/e6.sh > e6.sh

• Make it executable:

  chmod +x e6.sh

• Check out the help page:

  ./e6.sh --help

• Give it a whirl! For example:

  ./e6.sh feline Please enter your tag string for directory: ./feline female feline rating:s score:>50

I believe you can also use Cygwin to run this on Windows, but I've never tried it, so YMMV.

I'm always around if you have any questions or suggestions, but it might take me a day or so to get back to you.

I'm not sure how this is gonna work, if it will be one chain or what but here goes.

I wave you all in to follow me, leading you through my home where you can see all kinds of food and drink scattered about ready to be eaten, the house is quiet for now and I smile at you Hey welcome, have fun eating and drinking whatever you want, there's an indoor pool back here and you can feel free to use the TV or the consoles. Have fun, and don't touch my computer. I say, strolling down a hallway into a large chlorine smelling room with a 10 foot deep pool stretching back about 6 yards. I go into a changing room and now the guests may decide how to spend their time.

EDIT: If this works out I may do more of this, if you want start a thread and leave your thoughts. I know that some fursona's are not compatible with the party setting so expect others.
