Hello! New here and wanted to introduce myself.

Furry Reddit - Sat 2 Jan 2016 - 22:38

I'll start off by saying I'm not actually new the community, I've been a closet furry for probably 5 years now. However, recently I wanted to actually participate with the community instead of just being a lurker.

I made a FA account and have spent a little time working on a fursona, I'm thinking over the next couple weeks when I get everything finalized I will commission a basic sketch! I've always been interested in RPing, but the friends I grew up with never really were interested in table-top games, so I never really got the chance. Other than that my main interests are gaming, music, sports and just talking.

And as I submit this I'm loading into a game of Dota 2, so I'll check back in after the game. Nice to meet you all!

Does anyone else hardly participate due to being late to discussion threads?

Furry Reddit - Sat 2 Jan 2016 - 22:15

I wondered if anyone else around these parts hardly or only occasionally participated in conversations because they are always late to the discussion threads?

I know with the 'sona questions threads, all but one I was way late to, and I figured if there's already 90+ answers, there is no reason to participate at that point.

Remember the post from before Christmas about that writing group? The Inkblots is now officially started up.

Furry Reddit - Sat 2 Jan 2016 - 20:18

Here was the original post.

Briefly, the Inkblots was an idea by /u/IWishIWasATurnip to fill in a gap in the furry community. That gap is the one where writers don't have many places where they can meet other writers and toss ideas back and forth. The goal of the group is to improve your skills as a writer, give sources of inspiration and outlets for creativity, and to allow everyone to produce higher-quality work.

When we posted about this before Christmas, we knew there'd be a bunch of people too busy with the holidays to contribute, so that's why we held off on starting until now.

We've started up the book club and will be having a discussion tomorrow to get every acquainted with each other. Because it's a Discord server, that means we have channels for text and for voice, and it's recommended that you use both but not required.

A goal I want to get accomplished by next week is to have everyone paired up with at least one other writer, where the pairs read each-other's works and give critique and advice. It's been really helpful for both Turnip and me reading the other's stuff and asking questions, then being able to rewrite bits so that they flow better. I think that sort of process can massively help anyone regardless of skill level.

As with the last post, the joining process is very simple. Just message either me or Turnip that you want to join and we'll give you an invitation to the group. If you have any questions, just ask.

Casual Confursation #2

Furry Reddit - Sat 2 Jan 2016 - 19:29

I'm testing out the formatting for future posts so give me advice or suggestions - any and all are appreciated.

Hey Fellow Furs! Welcome to the thread series where we talk about the "normal" things in our lives with a uniquely furry twist. Everyone here has different interests and differing levels of activity within the fandom, and that provides a really interesting setting for discussion. We're an overwhelmingly receptive community, and we have a lot to share that often doesn't get discussed here in the sub, so take this as an opportunity to do so!

Answer as yourself or your fursona - just keep in mind both the rules of reddit and the sub - and above all else be casual! Be willing to discuss and learn about others or about new topics - whatever they may be.

Given that I didn't see any outspoken requests or topics in the last thread, I decided to offer another set of guiding questions. Please remember that this thread should be driven by you, the members of the community! Do not feel restricted by just what is listed below - if you want to talk about something - shout it out!

For this thread:

  • What is your favorite website to browse EXCLUDING reddit and furaffinity?
  • What is your favorite genre of music? Are there any examples you'd like to share?
  • What is a hobby you enjoy outside of the furry fandom?
  • EXCLUDING your own fursona species - what is your favorite species in the fandom?

  • What is your favorite television show, anime, manga, book etc (insert form of media here that you enjoy and your favorite example of said media C:)

Is your ‘Sona artistic or creative? For those of you who are worldbuilders: Tell us about the culture your ‘Sona comes from.

Edit: What's your favorite idea? Mine is mods who pin.
