Hood vs. Evil

In-Fur-Nation - Fri 25 Feb 2011 - 02:55

One of the box-office surprises of 2005 was a little film called Hoodwinked — the first independently produced CGI film, which went on to make a rather tidy little profit. Talk began almost immediately about sequel for the film — and now, that sequel is coming to theaters on April 29th.  Hoodwinked introduced us to Little Red Riding Hood, her rather resourceful (and butt-kicking) Granny, and a big-but-not-so-bad Wolf. All three of them return in the new film, Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil. They’re joining up with an outfit known as the Happily Ever-after Agency (HEA) on a mission to save Hansel and Gretel from a wicked witch. Some things have changed — Hayden Panettiere (Alpha and Omega) replaces Anne Hathaway as the voice of Red, and the director this time is Mike Disa, previously known as a director of video short films. But once again we have Patrick Warburton as the Wolf, Glenn Close as Granny, and David Ogden Stiers as the frog Nicky Flippers, head of HEA. You can view the current trailer for the film on YouTube here.

Discussion of yoai/gay comics (some furry content)

Good luck wading through all that. Not for those who must have a "tl;dr" version.

Anyway, as the byline indicates, the article is by Michael Arthur, who'll be at Anthrocon this year.

“Faith Based” animated film “Lion of Judah” opens Easter

Furry News Network - Thu 24 Feb 2011 - 14:46

‘The Lion of Judah’ is an UpComing 3D Animated Film, It is going to release on ‘Easter 2011′ in American Film Market. This movie is directed by Deryck Broom and produced by Animated Family Films. It is the sequel of ‘Upon A Stable’ taking place 30 years after the first movie’s events.

As part of their promotion, American Family Films is offering free tickets, free copy of the previous DVD ‘Once Upon a Stable’ (just pay shipping), a chance to win a trip to “The Holy Land” and discounted merchandise related to the movie.  They are also running an “ambassador” program, and an “Adopt a Lion” program, with participants not actually sponsoring a lion, but providing financial backing to the film in exchange for DVDs and promotional materials they can give out to their friends, family and congregation.  Full details are on the official movie website.

They have put out a plea for a “National Lion Watch” in efforts to get the Hollywood movie industry behind more faith based films.

Hollywood’s decisions to support movies are based on opening weekend results! Your participation is very important to help determine the Lion Of Judah movie success in your local theater.

We need to sell-out the theaters near you the weekend of March 25th, 2010 when The Lion of Judah premiers nationwide!

Film Informaiton:
Title:- The Lion of Judah

Music:- Greg Sims
Studio:- Animated Family Films

Date Of Release:- Easter 2011
Budget:- $15 Million

Official Website:- The Lion of Judah Official Movie Website

The story follows Judah, a lamb, who is to be sacrificed. His stable mates set out to rescue him.

The published description follows:

The Lion of Judah, a laugh-filled, heart warming story seen through the eyes of a zany cast of stable animals. Take an eye-opening adventure with a lovable pig (Horace), a faint-hearted horse (Monty), a finicky rat (Slink), a rambling rooster (Drake), a motherly cow (Esmay), a downtrodden donkey (Jack) and a heroic lamb (Judah) and you have got a classic in the making.

Upon learning that Judah has been trapped in the clutches of the townspeople and faces the possibility of being the sacrifice at the annual Festival, the stable mates leave their cozy barn and embark on a hilariously funny series of adventures to find and free their friend. During their numerous attempts to find Judah, a wonderful story emerges as they intercept, interact and entwine with history finally seeking out the King, who was born in their stable more than 30 years earlier.

The antics of our unique cast crates a uniquely funny and entertaining epic as it winds its way through numerous side-splitting encounters and historical scenes. The whole family will enjoy the telling of this wonderful story as it delicately combines biblical texture and timing and treats the most impacting events with care and humility. Without a doubt, The Lion of Judah will leave you in awe of the power that one lamb can command.

Characters and Cast Voice:
  • • Judah – Georgina Cordova
  • • Jack – Scott Eastwood
  • • Drake – Alphonso McAuley
  • • Esmay – Sandi Patty

Dirty Little Secrets: Furries

Furry News Network - Thu 24 Feb 2011 - 13:28

As part of her ongoing column, “Dirty Little Secrets”, Catherine Wong of Humboltd State University’s Student Paper, The LumberJack weighs in on Furries, the subculture and sex.

By Catherine Wong

Photo Editor

Howl, pant, or purr. Furries are people who are interested in anthropomorphic animals, or animals with human characteristics. By escaping humanity, furries see another side of themselves. Furries tend to empathize with the animals they imitate. Some animals are grounded in reality, while others can be a fictional species such as a unicorn or dragon, or a hybrid such as a fox-rabbit or a cat-wolf.

I aim to spend this semester explaining sexual acts and cultures that are thought of as “odd”. One of the biggest misconceptions about furries is that they’re hypersexual people that can only orgasm in an animal suit.

Opening a Furry Minecraft server. Suggestions? Ideas? What would you like to see?

Furry Reddit - Wed 23 Feb 2011 - 12:20

I'm plannig to open a Furry Survival Minecraft server next month and would like some feedback and the favorite playing style by fellow furs that would all be invited to join the server.

Experiences and other ideas are welcome as well :D

Here's what I thought so far so tell me what you think. Just remember that it is supposed to be survival.

1- Deathban I adore playing with deathban since it makes the game much more exciting, scary and a challenge. Also, it allows for a server to be more popular since people occupying the slots will come and go.

(For anyone who doesn't know what Deathban means, it means that you get banned for a few hours (2-3) when you die).

2- PVP on and raiding bases would be allowed.

3- There would be some type of economy.

4- Houses, towns and cities could be built and protected against griefing with diamond-blocks. (see precious stones bukkit plugin)

These are my ideas so far. What would you suggest? What would you change?

Cheers! :3

"Dirty Little Secrets: Furries"

Furries In The Media - Wed 23 Feb 2011 - 07:23
Here is an article, dated February 23, from The Lumberjack, the student newspaper of Humboldt State University (California, U.S.A.)

The article is a very brief one, the opener of a series on "sexual acts and cultures that are thought of as "odd"." The start isn't too bad...

One of the biggest misconceptions about furries is that they're hypersexual people that can only orgasm in an animal suit. The second is that the subculture is somehow linked to bestiality. In reality, the furry culture is not exclusively about sex and, while the acts seem similar, many furries are put off by the idea of sex with an actual animal.

...though I hope that "many" is really "most".

The article goes on to talk about totemism and "furry lifestyle", and defines various words (fursona, furpile, skritching, yiff).
