Self-Professed Furry Charged With Xbox Live Child Abuse
Via Kotaku [Tip: BlaiddWolfe and FrostBight]
A 19-year-old from Greece, New York, that identifies himself on Xbox Live as a “homosexual furry” has been arrested and charged for allegedly sexually abusing a boy under the age of 13 he met while playing on Xbox Live.
According to authorities, Richard Kretovic, who goes by the Xbox Live gamertag Formic Hivemind met his alleged victim while playing games on Xbox Live. Upon discovering that the alleged victim was also a resident of Greece, Kretovic set up a meeting. It was during this meeting that police say he sexually abused the young boy.
The boy’s mother, suspecting her child had been sexually abused, contacted authorities. Their investigation led them directly to Kretovic. He is being charged with first-degree criminal sexual act and endangering the welfare of a child. Police say the child is “making adjustment but doing well.”
Formic Hivemind was last seen on Xbox Live playing Halo: Reach on April 15. A quick search of Xbox.com revealed his profile, in which the following bio was written.
You’re my Number One, Kogi. I’ll always love you… BTW, I’m a homosexual furry. Why Furries Are The Happiest People On Earth
“A trio of researchers from the National University of Singapore — Kenneth Tai, Xue Zheng and Jayanth Narayanan — concludes that ‘touching a teddy bear mitigates the negative effects of exclusion,’ leading to increased levels of cooperative, helpful behavior. They report the stuffed animal seems to have ‘specific psychological significance as a source of comfort and positive feeling,’ brightening the mood of those who are otherwise feeling ostracized.“
Editors note: This research was done with teddy bears – I don’t see that it could not apply to any plush toy.

“Stasis” by Alflor
Author: toonces
For the first time in the history of the book club, we have a guest host with us this week. Jay1743, as he goes by on FA, joined us in the studio – on the futon in my eight foot by eight foot room on the outskirts of DC – to discuss Alflor’s disturbing sci-fi fic “Stasis.” The themes of loneliness and isolation in the story were just too great, we had to invite a friend to keep us company.
We hope you enjoy the podcast!

Bobby Davro simulates sex with giant kangaroo
Via DailyMail.co.uk
[Tip: Kuma Chan]
Comedian Bobby Davro left parents shocked by simulating sex in a giant kangaroo suit during a children’s panto.
Davro was playing the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz and made lewd movements in front of children as young as five.
He also allegedly made racist jokes during the performance at Preston’s Charter Theatre. The actor, 52, repeatedly referred to Chinese people eating dogs and pulled ‘Chinaman’ faces.
Theatre bosses and the production company have now been forced to apologise after angry parents complained.
Grandmother Annabelle Fleming, 67, who took her five-year-old grandaughter Jane to the show, said: ‘I was furious. I think he thought it was a pub audience.’ Another parent said Davro pulled up his trouser leg and demanded that one lady in the audience ‘kiss his leg better’. She said he then made a lewd joke as he offered sweets to co-star, Steph Fearon, saying: ‘That lady over there has already had my Nut Cluster.’
Mrs Fleming, from Leyland, said: “I’m not counting the cost but my tickets were £52 and you don’t pay £52 to see some bloke make out with a kangaroo. ‘We got some of the last few seats and, as it was sold out, I think he thought it was a captive audience and he could do what he liked.’

Mephit Fur Meet seeking donations for Tiger Haven charity auction
Mephit Fur Meet is seeing both new and used items. All items gathered will be auctioned at the convention on Labor Day Weekend.
“Hey furs! We are right in that time of year when a lot of people start looking at cleaning out their homes and maybe getting rid of some things. If you are thinking of cleaning out some of your belongings, before you give everything to a resale shop look through your stuff and see if anything might be great for the Tiger Haven charity auction.
Maybe you have an awesome collection of wolf plushes that you just don’t appreciate as much anymore. Or something geeky, like a cool old computer game, that you no longer use.
Maybe you love all your belongings but happen to enjoy frequenting yard sales. Keep an eye out for something great to get just for the auction.
If none of these appeal to you then you still can help, we need buyers at the auction. Are you getting your tax return soon? Don’t blow it all right away, save some to spend at MFM in the Tiger Haven charity auction.
The kitties will thank you!”
If you are interested in sending an item for the auction, you can read Princess B’s post here. You can contact them here – choose Charity

Rise of the Planet of the Apes
As we noted recently, 20th Century Fox is once again taking us to the Planet of the Apes – this time, in what is essentially a re-make of the 1972 film Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. Once again, it tells the story of Caesar, a chimpanzee who comes to lead a rebellion of apes against humans in a battle for supremacy. In the new Rise of the Planet of the Apes, however, he is not the child of apes from the future, but the result of a brain-enhancing drug experiment “gone wrong”. The new film is directed by Rupert Wyatt. It stars Andy Serkis (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) as Caesar (via motion-capture technology), and James Franco (127 Hours) as the scientist who brings about Caesar’s advance. Fox Studios seem to have a little bit of trouble settling on a release date though: IMDB.com still lists it as August 5th, but other sites have mentioned release dates as late as Thanksgiving. Meanwhile as you figure that out you can look for the official trailer, currently making the rounds on YouTube.
Goblins are Coming
The latest from the endlessly creative mind (and pen, and pencil) of Richard Moore: Gobs. “Gobs are the worst. Just the worst. Don’t think goblins’ll ever move into your neighborhood? Don’t be too sure. After getting kicked out of their favorite pub, this typically vile group builds their own pub…in the hollowed-out body of a dead giant. Lovely, eh? So beware…Gobs are coming.” And they’re coming your way, bi-monthly and in black & white — starting this June, from Antarctic Press.

Furrit, A couple of questions.
Hello, Furrit, I'm just here to ask a couple of honest questions to people who I know will answer me in an appropriate way... WON'T you?
Anyway. First question. What constitutes "furryhood"? What sort of characteristics must one possess to be considered a furry? What is YOUR definition of a furry? I go on fur affinity and several other art sites and I see a LOOOOOOOTTTT of like 13 or 14 year old girls who draw male "furries" in sexual positions and these sort of girls also obsess over yaoi fan fiction... They call themselves furries. I DOUBT this is true.
Second. Why? What does one get out of pretending to be an animal specifically? I understand that everyone, myself included, likes to escape from reality and become someone else for a bit, it's liberating, but why animals in particular?
What is with the quasi-zoophilia? The sexual scenes drawn of animals or anthros? Is that a common theme in furrydom? Does a furry naturally want to have sexual contact WITH animals or anthropomorphized animals?
Please do not get offended, I enjoy the tamer art of humanified animals, because I do think that some artists can make VERY beautiful characters, but don't enjoy so much the sexually explicit ones, so I'm just curious if that's the norm or not. Please know I'm not here to troll and I'm not judging, I'm legitimately curious about this.
+++ Thanks everyone who is answering, everyone has their own opinions and their own answers, but piecing it together is giving me a picture of the 'dom. I appreciate you guys taking time to enlighten me. I look forward to more information It's all very interesting.
