An interesting game...

Furry Reddit - Fri 5 Aug 2011 - 12:23

So I recently discovered that the folks who write for a satirical newspaper published by my alma mater have a little game that they play. Though they aren't (as far as I know) furries, they have a tradition of doing staff trips once or twice a year to large furry conventions. At the convention, they have two things: a fursuit and a shitload of psychedelic mushrooms. The rule is that whoever is inside of the former has to ingest large amounts of the latter.

I find this incredibly amusing.

Furry Androids

In-Fur-Nation - Fri 5 Aug 2011 - 01:54

Rick Griffin is, of course, the author and artist of Housepets!, winner of the Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Comic Strip in 2009 and 2010. Now he’s recently published a new science fiction novella called Argo in e-book form on Smashwords. The story is sort of sneaky-furry: Many of the main characters are from a group of furry robots called “ani-droids”. Here’s the description: “In the distant future, the easy paths to artificial intelligence have been outlawed. Mira McAllister, dismayed at the lack of progress the engineering community has made in recent years, determines to find the answers for herself when she comes across a strange, discarded android. Repairing her to full function, she discovers the android is unlike any she’s ever dealt with before–and the answers she was searching for only lead to more questions, and more secrets.” Argo is available for download from Smashwords and Amazon.

Idaho police tell man to stop wearing bunny suit

Furry News Network - Wed 3 Aug 2011 - 18:07

SALMON, Idaho (Reuters) – Police in Idaho Falls said on Tuesday they have told a 34-year-old man to stop wearing a bunny suit in public after residents complained that he has been frightening children.

Police warned Idaho Falls resident William Falkingham after a woman said she saw him dressed in the costume, peeking at her young son from behind a tree and pointing his finger like a gun, according to a police report.

An investigation of the sighting led officers to question other neighbors, “who expressed that they were greatly disturbed by Falkingham and his bunny suit,” the report said.

Neighbors also reported that Falkingham occasionally wears a tutu with the bunny suit, police said in a statement.

Falkingham told police that while he “enjoys wearing the suit,” he understood the concerns, and that he could be cited as a public nuisance for that type of behavior, Idaho Falls Police Department spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said.

Falkingham could not be reached for comment.

Neighbor Deborah Colson defended Falkingham in a telephone interview with Reuters, saying he has an eccentric but otherwise harmless habit of dressing up in costume and making appearances on his own property.

“He’s got the bunny outfit, a cowboy suit and a ballerina dress but you don’t see him except where he’s tripping through his backyard,” she said.

Colson said she worried that news of Falkingham’s at-home habits might make him a target of fear and scorn.

“He’s never done anything wrong but wear his little suits in the background,” she said. “He’s got a strange lifestyle at home but we all do weird things at home. It makes me so sad: people don’t even do anything and they get laughed at.” http://news.yahoo.com/idaho-police-tell-man-stop-wearing-bunny-suit-203004132.html

Wool Buddies

In-Fur-Nation - Tue 2 Aug 2011 - 23:11

Recently discovered at Comic Con: Jackie Huang is a 3D story artist and art teacher. In 2009, he took up the art of needle felting and created Wool Buddies, a collection of fuzzy animal dolls, sea creatures, and various friendly monsters. You can check out his various designs at the Wool Buddy web site, or else his work is available at several stores and art galleries in California. His work is also available in several “do it yourself” kits that teach you the art of needle felting.
