The Jungle Book — As Never Before

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 12 Feb 2012 - 02:57

Zenescope Entertainment, the home of Grimm Fairy Tales, are now presenting their own unique take on Rudyard Kipling’s famous story The Jungle Book.  Here’s their write up on it: “The new five-issue miniseries will follow Mowglii, a young girl raised by wolves who finds herself in the middle of what the animals call The Great Animal Battle. Mowglii must learn her place in the jungle and fight for survival against many exotic beasts. But she is not the only human in this jungle island. Three other children have been raised by different animal tribes: Bomani grows up in the tiger tribe that is led by the conniving Shere Kahn, Akili learned the ways of the jungle from the mischievous Tavi mongoose tribe, and Dewan comes of age within the unpredictable Monkeys of Bandar Log, which is led by the insane King Bandar Louis. Mowglii and the rest of the human cubs play key roles in the ongoing Great Animal Battle of Kipling Isle as they approach adulthood.” The series is written by Mark L. Miller and illustrated in full color by Carles Granda, with variant wraparound covers available from Ale Garza and Mike DeBalfo. Look for it in March.

There should be a furry dance crew on "ABDC" (Americas Best Dance Crew)

Furry Reddit - Sat 11 Feb 2012 - 22:19

How cool would it be if there was a crew of fursuiters? Or at least Half-suiters. Or even just people dancing with tails and ears on! I wonder what the name would be...

(If I did anything wrong, excuse me. This is my first Reddit post. Also, I'm an arctic wolf, not a cat :P)

Did you get your yiffs ready? ….. okay maybe the last one is a little much. Make sure to swing over to FWA website for details on hotel rooms, otherwise if ya go you’ll be staying in a cardboard box and I heard Atlanta has zombies.

Review: ‘Bridges’, by Kyell Gold

Furry News Network - Fri 10 Feb 2012 - 22:24

Author: Fred

Bridges; art by KeoviThis is a mature content book. Please ensure that you are of legal age to purchase this material in your state or region. (publisher’s advisory)

This novella is the first in FurPlanet’s ”Cupcake” series of works that are too short to be novels, but are long enough to stand on their own. It is also the winner of the Ursa Major Award for the Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction of 2010. Finally, it is the fourth of Gold’s “Forester Universe” stories, set in the same world as his Waterways, Out of Position, and Isolation Play.

And it is as X-rated as Gold’s previous “Forester” stories. Amir is a young fennec who has just moved to Gateway to finish his graduate studies at Pinewood College. He also wants to “finish growing up” by developing a permanent relationship (male) instead of the one-night stands that he has become used to in his home town. He hopes to find someone appropriate at The Foxed Page, a comfortable fox-frequented bookstore near the university.

Er, I said that Bridges is as X-rated as Gold’s previous “Forester” stories. Actually, if they are X-rated, Bridges is XXX-rated. It was hard to find any parts of the first three chapters that are non-hardcore enough to quote. There certainly are in the final two chapters, where the story moves from nonstop gay sex into serious motivation, characterization, and the emotional residue from deceased and absent former lovers. There is still an overpowering erotic emphasis, but it makes clear that a true relationship is about much more than just the sex.

If an overemphasis on raw sex isn’t to your liking, too bad. Because you are missing a really good story.

FurPlanet Productions, February 2010, trade paperback $ 9.95 (vii + 114 pages; at Amazon); Kindle $ 7.99. Illustrated by Keovi.

how long do commissions usually take on FA?

Furry Reddit - Fri 10 Feb 2012 - 21:35

i know it depends on the artist and the commission and everything but about 2 weeks ago i asked for a commission and i paid them, (it was a 5 dollar commission and she claimed i only sent 4.50...however on my paypal it said i sent 5.00 and i definitely typed in 5. i just said whatever i'll just give you another dollar, and i did that.) then she said she was starting on it that night. well it looks like she has not been online since then, i suspect computer problems are a possiblity. i don't want to overreact or anything but i am paranoid when it comes to money on the internet. and it was only 6 dollars so it's not really a big deal. but just curious if this is a normal amount of time for a commission. thanks :3
