I have a bit of an Identity crisis. A couple of years ago I found out about the furry lifestyle after meeting a girl at the beach (this is a good story and quite the personal triumph, so forgive me for regaling the entire tale). We had a few drinks and chatted until she asked me to come over to her hotel room. Being that I was a young man and she a stunning vision fit only for dreams, I immediately agreed to do so.

"Just give me an hour to freshen up ;)" (I very nearly melted when she winked at me)

I went home, showered, brushed my teeth, grabbed my ahem personal supplies, and went to her hotel full of butterflies and hope. I found her room (723), knocked on the door, and was greeted by the most beautiful sight I had ever seen: A vixen stood before me, faux fox fur corset and panties, a long, luscious, tale danced before me with every move she made, gorgeous bright green eyes shone from behind her mask like emeralds in the sun. I was in awe, I had never seen anything like this vision. I followed her into her room and not even the devil himself could persuade me to list the details of that magical night. I will only say that I had the best sex I've ever experienced and from that point forward I have had a thing for anthropomorphic animals (especially foxes and cats).

My dilemma is this: I have no desire to be a furry, I have tried the fursuit thing, and it just isn't for me. But I want to be with furries and experience that intoxicating indiscretion again. I love furry art which I look at often since I've yet to meet someone like that first girl (who I am not in contact with anymore, much to my chagrin), to whom it didn't matter that I wasn't in a fursuit. I enjoy sex with girls who aren't in costume, but it just isn't the same. I feel like I'd be on the outside if I ever went to a convention, due to not enjoying wearing the fursuit, but the desire for another night of forbidden fruits is driving me insane.

TL;dr: I fucked a furry and have no idea where I stand.

Anything will help, even a link to somewhere else I could ask this question.

Postscript: I apologise profusely if I have insulted the subculture, I do not know much about it and truly do not mean to disrespect.

I'm new to the furry fandom, but so far, they only thing I have an interest in is fursuiting. Furry art, creating a fursona, etc, don't really appeal to me. That probably makes me more of a cosplayer than a furry, but I thought I'd ask and see if there are other furries who only like one particular aspect of the fandom.

A quick plug: this year at Confuzzled, I’m running a Furry Hypnotism show.

In what I think is a first at a furry convention anywhere, I’ll be running a group hypnosis session followed by some furry-themed fun & games. The group hypnosis session will be a relaxed and vivid experience, helping you get in close touch with your furry self. And then onto hilarious party games.

I’m on the main stage at 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon for 90 minutes or so. It’s going to be thoughtful and fun: happiness guaranteed.

Confuzzled 2012 (www.confuzzled.org.uk) is held in Hinckley, Leicestershire, from 25 to 28 May. There are over 600 registered attendees.

I’ll be about for the rest of the convention with some [adjective][species] goodies. I’m friendly and shouldn’t be too hard to track down, so please say hello if you see me trotting about the halls.
