We raised 20k + to save Fernandos restaurant!

Furry Reddit - Fri 20 Apr 2012 - 10:50

If you personally had a problem , would Uncle Kage help you?

Is spending all those donations on a restaurant that was 35k in debt and shutting down really the best way to spend that money?

Why not donate to a different charity or put a disadvantaged furry through a year of university education?

I kmow I'm risking downvotes here but I am really trying to add to the conversation.

It’s time for episode 41, and wow, is it a big one! Could it have anything to do with the reintroduction of purple? Possibly! We start off with discussions about how to have a little more humility and appreciate the things you have, the recent rescue for Fernando’s up in Pittsburg (which is going amazingly well and is awesome), the recent issues with FurAffinity and what should probably be done, and Istanbul comes out with his word of the week, a Word That Sounds Dirty But Isn’t!

Once we move on to our e-mails, it’s a whole different kettle of fish. We get Kyo’s opinion on Lady Gaga, along with how much you should help and how to deal with assistance vampires, prioritizing your money and budgeting for luxuries vs. needs, figuring out where – and why – to move, getting through some of life’s rougher spots, dealing with inadequate education, how to handle furmeets of your own, a way to pacify parents who just don’t understand, and scads more!

Next week’s topic is all about your Bucket List…you know, the things you want to do before you die. Whether it’s something you want to see, somewhere you want to go, something you want to learn…whatever it may be, what do you want to accomplish before you take the ultimate snooze? Drop us a line and let us know!

Also, since we discuss the prospect of donations to Fernando’s, why not give you a link? Just hit up http://unclekage.livejournal.com/ and click on that Donate button to lend a helping paw for a good cause – anything you can give is welcome!

Ratha’s Creature… in Pictures?

In-Fur-Nation - Fri 20 Apr 2012 - 01:56

Clare Bell is a science fiction and fantasy author best known for some very furry-themed books. What’s more, she’s actually been to several furry conventions — as a fan! She’s mostly known for a series called The Books of the Named, and the first book in the series is called Ratha’s Creature (check it out here on Amazon). In this book we meet Ratha, who is a young member of the Named: A species of prehistoric cat that are self-aware and possessing of culture, laws, and even primitive agriculture (they keep livestock). Ratha brings shock and dismay to her society when she learns to tame a strange ‘creature’ that glows, and flows, and burns…  most anything dry in fact. The rest of the series follows the adventures of Ratha, her friends, and her adversaries as events develop after Ratha’s discovery of this “creature”… and how she learns it can be useful. You can find out more about the series on the Clare Bell fan site. The reason we’re telling you all this now is that Clare Bell and Sheila Ruth (from Imaginator Press) are exploring the possibility of creating a Ratha’s Creature graphic novel — and they’d like the fans’ opinion of the idea, to see how popular it might be. Visit Clare Bell’s FurAffinity page and check out the survey in her journal. She’ll fill you in on the rest.

Subreddit for commissions?

Furry Reddit - Fri 20 Apr 2012 - 00:56

I sincerely apologize if this has been posted before, but given the amount of people asking for advice on commissions, or simply advertising, perhaps a commission subreddit should be made? It could be quite useful, much like the commission accounts I've seen on the populars sites, such as FurAffinity, to give some exposure to those looking to earn their keep. If it already exists, then I'd be curious to see it.

New LoL Champion Hecarim is a Centaur

Gaming Furever - Furry Game News - Thu 19 Apr 2012 - 22:58

hecarim

The weekly champion for Leage of Legends just so happens to have a little anthropomorphic interest this week, as Hecarim gallops into the game. He's a centaur who is described as a "towering, armored specter." He's quite evil. Here's what Riot games had to say about the iron-hooved champion:

"The latest champion of the league is on a rampage, looking to charge through the competition and straight into your able hands. Focusing on high mobility, initiation, and forcing enemies to move where he wants them, Hecarim is ready to inspire terror in your opponents. Want to find out more? Take a look at the Hecarim Champion Spotlight!"

Speaking of that Champion Spotlight, here it is below:
