House Pets: Episode VI (ART)
So decided to create a red panda fursona...
But the thing is... I like a lot of colors so I want it to be bright and multi-colored... But I don't know if I could still consider it a red panda (due to the lack of... well, red)

Photographer Jake Warga on exploring the culture of conventions
In a recent interview with Wired, freelance journalist and photographer Jake Warga explained his most recent investigation into American culture, one that involves attending a lot of unusual conventions. Warga says that people are defined by their hobbies, not by their jobs, and believes that the best way to learn about these hobbies is to seek out niche conventions. While he generally avoids big cons (think San Diego ComicCon), Warga has been to Renaissance Faires, Steampunk cons, SeXXXpo, cat shows, Hemp Fest, and Furry conventions, and photographs individuals and their hobbies outside of the hectic convention environment.
So far, Warga says that he's learned many valuable lessons, like "furries are the nicest people by far," "make-up used on zombies and corpses [at conventions] is the best I've seen even after a career working on Miramax horror sequels" and that "at conventions you can be who you really are." For more on Warga's ongoing project, take a look at Wired's profile at the source link below — and to see the rest of the amazing photography series, head on to Warga's website.

Is It Okay to Wear Just Makeup and Ears?
Where do I begin. Well. For a heads up, my species of choice is a koala. I've always wanted a fursuit, you see, and I am not sure how I could make one myself (since my current job isn't paid much and I'm young. 15 to be precise). And there's another problem - I wear glasses all the time, just not when I'm sleeping - and can't really go without them without walking into stuff.
But it's come to my head that I could make ears, paws and a tail. Would it be seen as strange if I went to a convention or something with just those 3 aspects and some facepaints? Or would it be okay?
Koala hugs and I send my regards.
Ashy

Hi, Ashy,
Here’s the short and sweet of it:
1) Uou can actually have a head designed that accommodates eyeglasses. I know because I have one (I can't wear contacts). If you're not making the fursuit yourself, talk to the person who is doing it and tell them you need to have glasses on while in suit. You will need to consider things such as possibly adding a fan in the head, and what style of eyes you want so you can see the best.
2) BUT, if you don't go that way, there is certainly nothing wrong with face paint, ears, whiskers and such. Totally fine. In fact, I went to FC and they had some furries as the cast of CATS and they looked great!
So, either option is cool. Remember! Have fun with it!
Bear hugs,
Papabear

Furries gather in Botanic Gardens

Another article in Bundaberg's NewsMail, dated August 13. It's a brief follow-up to Thursday's article about a furmeet organised by the BundyFur group.
http://www.news-mail.com.au/story/2012/08/13/furries-gather-in-botanic-gardens-bundaberg/
IF YOU went down to the Botanic Gardens yesterday you would have got a big surprise.
It was picnic time for Bundaberg's "Furries" - a group of people who enjoy dressing up in animal costumes.
Spokesman Hayden Grant, aka Bingo Fox, said the event even attracted people from Brisbane.
"We also had five new people from Bundaberg come along," he said.
He said the Furries planned to make it a much bigger event next year.
Looking to kind of be more social
Hey there. 17 year-old Wolf, here. (I know, typical Wolf...) I'm not new to the furry fandom, or anything, but I'm not active in the community, beyond comments on my old account, and an abandoned deviantART page. Thing is - I want to get to know more of you furries out there; but I'm not one for large chats, or forums - even websites. (Hence the abandonment of my devART.) I have a general dislike towards people who are arrogant, egotistical or generally weeaboo-ish, with overuse of emotes and childish-like typing. So yeah, I don't get along with as many people as I'd like to. ANd I know it's my own fault.
Anyway, I thought I would come and ask at the friendliest community of furries I know of on the internet - Will you be my friend? This probably looks really pathetic, but ah well.
For the record, I'm bisexual; but I'm not really one to RP with. I just like having general conversations - Music, movies, video games - anything!
If anyone would like to talk to me, PM me for my Skype.
Thanks for reading!
