Yet another "new furry" post. Circled around the fandom for some time, not really joining in, until I found some convention videos and finally decided "hell yes! this is awesome! I want in!"

So the question is what is the best way to meet people?

I made a FurAffinity account and put up a little art, but FA doesn't really seem to be the greatest environment for just chatting and getting to know people and whatnot, or maybe I'm just not using right.

One more thing, I'm thinking about going to the Fur Squared convention in February, but I was wondering if it was worth going if I didn't know anyone. Thanks

So I've considered myself a furry for a while now, but I've never really delved myself into the fandom. And I'm not really sure how i should, I haven't bothered to much with a Fursona but i have thought about it. What i'm mainly interested in though is meeting other Furries. To start off I love pc video games (also have a 3ds and love pokemon if any cares) and love to play with some of the people on this reddit. I know there is a few good Furry steam groups like redditfurs and such but I decided i would like to try directly here first. If you want my steam or anything else just pm me (If i can ever figure out how to work reddit right). Also i know lots of people in this community make art and i'm interested in being able to draw as well. Does anyone know of some basic to more advanced guides for drawing Anthro or just plain animals in general? Thanks ahead of time.

Sorry for the wall of text and semi disorganization but i really appreciate it.

Hey guys. My friends mate, keato, was recently at the hospital to get a check up on his non-terminable cancer. We know he's out of the hospital now but know one has heard from him for the past few days and we are getting really worried. My friend is starting to get really depressed because he cant stop thinking about him. Keato has also had a really tough life. He has no metabolism and his dad beat him for 16 years. He also has scitso, autism, memory loss, depression, and is bipolar. I just need your help to find out what happened to him and make sure he is okay. My friend thinks that keato forgot about him because of his memory loss. Here is some info on Keato: His facebook is Keaton G. Wolfe, his kik is keatonwolf1, and he lives in california. Hello everyone!

My name on the internet is Tomiix, and its a pleasure to meet you all!

I hardly use Reddit, so pardon any newbyness on my part.

I have been looking at this fandom from the outside for a long time. Reading some comics, following some of the artists, I think I may of even had a FA at one time. (But my artistic abilities remain only on paper, and not digitally, so I never contributed. I just wanted to see stuff only users could see.)

I have been apprehensive about fully pronouncing myself as a fur because of social pressure and some of the stigma... even though I know most of it is exaggerated.

But, after watching some inspiring videos from the well known Uncle Kage, I had decided to f*** the stigma! I'm 18 now, I'm an adult, and I want to be who I am!

So after deciding that I will follow through with my decision... I faced a problem. I had no idea where to go or what to do about it. Luckily for me I have a few friends who are veteran furs, and they pointed me to here for advice and as a good introduction. So here I am!

I was curious...

What are some of the things you would recommend a fresh fur to do/sign up for?

I know there is no real defined way to be a furry, but I was wondering how I could get involved and what common stuff I should do to get started.

My friends already mentioned making a 'Fursona' (apparently that is like an oc version of myself). And although I have some ideas... they may sound stupid <.>

So I was wondering if anyone would want to 'adopt a pup' and help me along. Cause I would love some guidance!

People on /r/transformation have talked about choose your own change and http://www.bearchive.com/~addventure/game1/docs/1.html but they aren't really furry focused.
