In Between the Birdy Movies
In anticipation of the upcoming Rio 2 movie (coming to theaters this April), this month Papercutz Publishing begins a new series of Rio trade paperbacks, with Volume 1 filling in the gap between the first movie and this one. Rio: Snakes Alive is a 64-page full-color comic book written by Stefan Petrucha (Power Rangers) and illustrated by James Silvani (Darwing Duck). There’s a preview up at Bleeding Cool. “The first volume… catches up with Blu and Jewel, the last surviving Blue Spix Macaws, as they raise their kids in the Blu Bird Sanctuary near Rio de Janeiro. When the sanctuary is threatened by financial trouble, Blu and the gang embark on a quest deep into the jungle to find an ancient treasure that may save their home.”

I have a thing with lists and organizing information. I like to write to when I make a character, I always write down basic information about them first. So I started to look online and couldn't find any sort of character building guide, the closest thing I could find were reference sheets. But for someone with no artistic talent, doesn't have the money to commission an artist, and still wants to tell someone about their character, this could be really helpful

Requesting Help With Fursuit Guides and Resources.
I haven't seriously considered making a suit up until this point and I was hoping I could draw some useful knowledge and advice from the community. Also, maybe it could help other people here who are curious as well.
Where to start? Taking proper measurements and fitting. What fabrics and materials would to recommend in the low end and high end?
What stuff to consider? Convenience vs looks, visibility, and temperature regulation? Washable fabrics?
Digitigrade legs and padded paws. Colors and blending bits of fur. Trimming and shaving.
Any help at all would be appreciated. There's a lot of ways to go about making a suit, so I hope to get a good variety of responses from you all. :)

Hullo from the high seas! And fursuit commission help
Hey there guys! Fun loving coyote/gryphon here and I, as well as everyone else I'm embarked with, are bored sailing around the world. I'm part of a MWR, or Moral Wellness and Recreation, committee responsible to keeping people’s quality of life somewhat less sucky. We had a committee meeting earlier today and one of the ideas thrown around the ready room was a possible fursuit commission of our unit mascot, the Bear Aces.
We've run into a few problems in the past when we tried this same thing couple years ago. Hands down, the furry community makes the best mascot costumes, and we would like to avoid an eBay nightmare.
One of the first problems is the lack of willingness of fursuit makers to make a "Copyrighted Character" for an organization who owns the copyright for a character, while technically they create costumes of their patron’s characters, who just happen to own copyright of their own characters.
Another issue we've run into is a misunderstanding, or unwillingness to understand, of where the money that is used to commission the costume would come from. The funds are raised by the members of our unit through gee dunk sales, carwashes, raffles, fundraisers, and donations from our unit members. The misunderstanding seems to stem that government funds are used pay for the commission, and they don't want to accept what they refer to as "Taxpayer" money.
So far I've sent inquires to two larger makers through the contact forms on their websites, and they've both politely declined to accept a commission. I remember reading through one of the furry related subreddits a long time ago and seeing a spreadsheet or google doc that listed the status of a huge number of makers and if they're open for commissions, price, type, style, and usual lead time. That would be an excellent tool to help us find a maker willing to work with us.
As a final note here, I'm running on a 15Kbps satilite data link, with spotty horizon picture, meaning I'll be a little slow on resposes. With that being said, any and all help would be appreciated! You guys are great!
