Commercial: Tai Chi Pandas

Furry.Today - Tue 14 May 2019 - 17:51

I never realized how much I need to see pandas right now. "Nothing beats a Tai Chi session to get the day started... or at least watching these serene Pandas doing their thing. Needless to say we're all super relaxed after this soothing session- hope you will be too!"

Murder Most Fluffy

In-Fur-Nation - Tue 14 May 2019 - 01:34

Dunno how we missed this one, but… here’s more dark, distressing oddness from Source Point Press. “Torsobear: Yarns From Toyburg is a collection of 12 grisly crime yarns, written in the style of old film noir and set in a world of toys. In the fluffy-noir world of Toyburg, some toys just don’t play nice… Dismembered teddy bears are being found in the back alleys of this sweet city. It’s up to our hero, rookie detective Ruxby Bear, and his partner, Officer Hazbrow to solve the string of murders, no matter how high and far the clues take them.” No description of who wrote or drew it, but they’re up to Volume 3 of this trade paperback series.

New Take on an Old… Well Actually, Young Iguana

In-Fur-Nation - Mon 13 May 2019 - 01:55

We got this direct from Animation World Network: “Hoho Entertainment has announced they have joined forces with JLI to co-develop and co-produce a brand-new animated preschool series based on the Latin heritage brand Juana la Iguana. In the new series, Juana becomes mentor and guide to youngsters Amazonas and Miguel. She leads them on exciting adventures as they discover the magic and wonder of Estrella Island. Juana shows the kids that kindness and compassion are the problem-solving tools needed to overcome any difficulty.  Heritage brand Juana la Iguana has been a favorite in Latin America for over 20 years. The original Spanish-language character show was created by Tania Gilinski, along with partners Amanda Quijano and Anita Katz – the three Latin American mothers wanted to create a program for children that incorporated both culture and values. The Juana the Iguana series began as three home videos, one of which was second only to The Lion King in sales in Venezuela. It was then picked up by national TV and became a smash hit in home and neighboring Latin America territories.” No word yet on North American distribution for this new series, but we assume the producers would love that.

Furry.Today - Fri 10 May 2019 - 19:42

This is a CalArts graduation film by Lorenzo Fresta and I gotta say the guy is channeling early 80s anime so well with this 2D animated film.   If he did this fully in a computer then I take my hat off to him for nailing the look so well. Also, that's one way of collecting water I had never thought of before. "A lonely toad rides his bike around the desert, looking for something..."

Does Stitch Know?

In-Fur-Nation - Fri 10 May 2019 - 13:42

More stuff we found at WonderCon this year. Ohana Bears are the creation of “Hawaii’s own internationally renown award winning artist/designer: Bo Bergemann”. So says their web site. The cute Hawaiian bear art is available on various apparel, mugs, phone covers, and other products. And: They’re about to release a brand new plush toy based on their star character, Mahalo Bear.

Clip: Guardians of the Galaxy

Furry.Today - Thu 9 May 2019 - 23:48

In the current animated Guardians of the Galaxy series the team gets seperated and animated in various ways when they get stuck in some sort of dimensional trap.   I  do kinda wish the whole series was animated this like. Also, It is now that canon Gamora is a Disney Princess. https://youtu.be/B62ZWhmpZJw ""Black Vortex, Part One" – When the Guardians become separated in the Black Vortex, Gamora wakes up in a children's fairy-tale, while Drax is trapped in a comic book."

New President & VP

Furry Writers' Guild - Wed 8 May 2019 - 13:00

This post is to announce my securing of the Furry Writers’ Guild presidency, a role which I will assume beginning next month. For those unaware, I am Dwale, a longtime FWG moderator and “Coffeehouse Chat” host. I have roughly fifteen years of moderator experience, with about five years particular to the FWG. The Furry Writers’ Guild and its mission statement are important parts of my life and have been for many years now. There is little I would not do for the Guild.

Our vice president will be Mr. Miles Reaver, who says:

I have been part of the FWG since early December of 2016 and in this time the Guild has treated me well. I have been the moderator of the FWG Telegram chat for 3 years as well as part of the Dead Furry Society.

Some of you may know my writing, some of you may not. I’ve met some amazing and inspiring people in this place, full of spirit and ideas, knowledge and drive. I am proud to be a member of the FWG and I want to do as much for it as it has done for me. To educate writers, promote workshops, publishers and their works, and to create a space where furry writers can improve their craft.

Along with Dwale as President, we will do our best to make a long-lasting improvement and make the guild a place that writers can call home.

Chipotle has volunteered to stay on as treasurer and technical adviser. Trale, to our regret, will be leaving at the end of his term. We wish him the best and a happy road ahead.

We do have tentative plans to move the Guild forward, something about which you’ll be hearing more in the weeks and months to come. It is our intention to administrate according to precedent, with transparency, so that the Guild will remain the welcoming and constructive community it has always been. Stay tuned.

Flavorz of the Week

In-Fur-Nation - Tue 7 May 2019 - 13:25

At WonderCon we came across an artist known as Jo2, who creates art under the name Artistic Flavorz. As you can see from their web site, they specialize in especially cute, chibi versions of characters from many places — but with a particular affinity for Disney and Harry Potter. Visit them to see what they offer in greeting cards, stickers, and especially enamel pins.

Give Him That Medal!

In-Fur-Nation - Sat 4 May 2019 - 03:00

Perhaps the most famous “fur-suiter” on the planet has left us. Peter Mayhew, best known as the human inside the massive “walking carpet” Chewbacca in the Star Wars series of films, passed away on April 30th at the age of 74. Interestingly, before Mr. Mayhew came to the attention of director George Lucas he appeared as another anthropomorphic character: The minotaur in 1976’s Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. Peter Mayhew played Chewbacca the 200-year-old wookie from the first Star Wars film in 1977 (Episode 4, aka A New Hope) until 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, when he passed on the role to former basketball player Joonas Suatamo. But Peter Mayhew will always be known as the warbling roar that announced Star Wars to the world.

Heavysaurus: Das letzte Mammut

Furry.Today - Fri 3 May 2019 - 12:09

Did you know there currently more than one Dinosaur based heavy metal bands? Due to lawyers and record labels there is now also Sauruxet: "In the beginning of 2011 Mirka Rantanen [1], the drummer and one of the founding members, drifted into a dispute between their record label Sony Music Entertainment [2] about the copyrights and trademarks of the characters. As a result, Rantanen formed a competing band called “Sauruxet”, with the people who played in the Hevisaurus live set-up. The court ordered “Sauruxet” to pay the record label €100,000 and legal fees. Legal documents stated that the rights for the characters always belonged to Sony Music Entertainment." "Heavysaurus [3]teamed up with the wonderful Doro Pesch [4] and rock out with a new video for "The Last Mammoth"."
