New to the community, searching for fiction

Furry Reddit - Tue 20 May 2014 - 17:11

Hey there!

I'm quite new to the community and stumbled upon sofurry.com a few days ago. Naturally when I search for good content I look up what's been the most popular stuff since the dawn of the sites I'm on. So that's exactly what I did. I read through the two first chapters of Forest Keep and I really like it, for the small amount I read. But I couldn't find the third one. I made the long-shot of PM-ing the author if it could be found on another site or if they could be re-upload it. I doubt anything will turn up as the author's latest activity was four years ago.. Someone of you wouldn't know where to find it, would you?

I'm also looking for other dragon-fiction, of course c:

And of course, thanks in advance!

Is there a subreddit for posting available adoptiables?

Furry Reddit - Tue 20 May 2014 - 13:31

I thought of the possibility of this while whipping up a few last night but thought it would be...rude (?) to post them here.

Edit: Well if you're curious /r/adoptafurry exists now.

He Needs to Backtrack Some before Attending College

Ask Papabear - Tue 20 May 2014 - 13:17
Dear Papabear,

I've recently decided to stop letting myself get upset over not going to college immediately after high school, and pursue a degree in film, and am hoping to start by the fall of 2015. The universities I've looked into and have an interest in attending require two things: an SAT/ACT score and some sort of college prep courses. The SAT/ACT is a fairly simple matter of getting a good grade, however, the required college prep course is another, often frustrating matter. It seems no matter where I look, instead of getting answers I get pointed to alternatives (community colleges, night school, etc.) that don't offer the courses I'm looking for, or useless banter about good schools for nontraditional students. I don't know how I'm going to find these college prep courses I need to get myself where I want to be, and oftentimes I feel ready to tear my hair out. Do you have any advice that could possibly help me?

Zeb

* * *

Dear Zeb,

It’s super you’re planning to further your education, and cool that you are not putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to rush into it if you’re not ready.

Unfortunately, yours is a case in which a little prior planning would have avoided the difficulties you currently find yourself in. I surmise that when you were in high school you weren’t thinking of going on to college so you didn’t take college prep courses. High school is definitely the time to do that, not after you graduate.

Before you put the cart before the horse and start taking college prep courses somewhere without really knowing what you need, start by selecting the college or university you wish to attend. Or select two or three. Contact the academic advisor at the college and set up an appointment, explaining your situation and asking what courses you need and how best to take them. Also, ask if they require an SAT or ACT. Some colleges prefer one over the other, and some colleges don’t require them at all (oh, make sure the college or university is fully accredited, of course).

Oftentimes, if a college feels you need a couple more classes under your belt, they might partner with a nearby community college, ensuring that your credits are fully transferable. You might, then, take a light load of courses at a community college this year and then enroll in your selected college in 2015. Furthermore, some colleges offer some, shall we say, “make-up” courses at their campuses.

Don’t go it alone, trying to figure out by yourself what you need to ensure a successful matriculation at college. Consult with an advisor who will be able to steer you in the right direction.

Good luck,

Papabear

Have you ever met a furry without the internet?

Furry Reddit - Tue 20 May 2014 - 10:23

For people like us, the internet is an almost essential medium of communication, as there aren't really any other ways to make a big group from all over the Earth gather to one easily-accessible place, except for some kind of cons, but they aren't accessible for all. This raised a question in my head, has anyone met a person who is a furry, without meeting them on the internet first etc.? Did something special happen? I'm curious.

I've got a friend I've met in school, who I suspect is a furry aswell, as I've seen her wear wolf ears and a tail to school, and we share a common interest in wolves. I was quite surprised to note this, as Finland, where I live, has a relatively small population compared to other countries, and I happen to come from a small town too. What are the chances to find two furries in a 12 000-people town, especially when people don't tend to stick out very much here? It's quite nice, when I think of it.

Has something happened? Well, nothing special has happened, at least this far. We're friends, we talk about this and that, we're going to take an awesome course next year in school together, but we've never come to discuss furries in any way. I'm a bit careful with the fact that I'm one. Time will tell what will happen...

So, how is it in other parts of the world, have you met anyone just like that?

How do you start relationships if you're only into yiff?

Furry Reddit - Tue 20 May 2014 - 07:27

So I'm asking this because I'm only turned on by gay furry/yiff art, which means I've actually never been turned on by someone "real". It has been bothering me for a while, because I don't know how I'll find love, if I ever do. I'm aware this is only a small part of a relationship, but still an important one.

People not attracted by humans, did you ever find love? If so, how did it happen?

Did you think that we wouldn't have anything to say about Godzilla? Well, we do -- the two of us who saw it anyways. Warning: We talk openly about all aspects of the film, so if you haven't seen it yet and are concerned about spoilers, then you best just not play this one, as that's pretty much all this episode is. Don't worry, we'll have another full episode (that the panda has been sitting on to keep it warm until it's ready to hatch) available real soon! Godzillacast - WARNING: SPOILERS (2014-05-20)

Can anyone recommend me a yarn tail maker?

Furry Reddit - Tue 20 May 2014 - 01:53

I'm looking to commission a custom yarn tail somewhere between 18 and 24 inches long with 3 colors and was wondering if anyone has any experience with and can recommend quality tail makers that aren't too expensive. I don't really want to spend more than $40, but I'm fairly flexible with price.

Thanks!
