Initiation
I've expressed interest in attending Further Confusion next year, but not as a Furry (or at least not under my own definition of one). I've been referring to myself as an outsider (for those who haven't noticed my flair) because my own definition of what a Furry is does not include me.
However, since making that thread, long story short, this may or may not be relevant.
Edit: I'm thinking of when my partial fursuit arrives as the beginning of my initiation, which will conclude at the convention itself. I really don't want to have a negative first experience for obvious reasons. If anyone else planning to attend FurCon next year is willing to talk to me further about this on Skype IM, let me know (I'm already communicating with one person).

(Opinion warning) It's hard to be a straight furry.
Since the majority of furries are male, gay/bi/whatever, it's really hard to find a girl that isn't wierded out that I'm a furry. It was ever so apparent today, but it's fine. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers (or fur) about this, I just wanted to get this off my chest.

Uncloaking and Introduction
While I have never admitted it to anyone before now, I have been interested in Furry for a couple of years and would like to introduce myself. My interest extend to PC gaming (I mostly play Paradox games and CiV), History, Science, and thinking about the world and how to understand it.

Copyright Characters and Commissions?
I've noticed that many artists will not do commissions with copyrighted or trademarked characters. I assumed that this was a legal thing, but I also see A LOT of commissions from other artists with characters like Krystal from Starfox, Toothless, some Digimon, and many Pokemon. They don't seem to be getting in any trouble for selling them.
How does this work? Can legal action be taken against an artist that draws a copyrighted character or species in their style, or is it considered "fair use"?
If a furry with a pokemon 'sona wanted to commission an artwork with their character in it from me, would this be considered copyright infringement if I chose to do it?
Is it worse if the artwork was adult in nature?
