So, anyway, I WON LAST TIME; only by your powers combined could you hope to even tie me! Mwahahahahaha!
So, this one's pretty self explanatory, I assume.
Also, the second Zootopia review will be up later tonight (I'm totally seeing the movie again, so after that), by Mister Twister (especially, since, my giant throbbing ego aside, everyone won, so we're totally going with that); Sonious's suggestion is great, but, uh, I don't know how to do that, and if I try I'll probably break the site, so we're not going to do that.
I'm between greatest furry movie of all time, and greatest movie of all time... I mean, there are other really amazing movies... I'm not sure I can say this beats Citizen Kane... I'll have to let the hype settle a bit and re-watch it a couple of times on Blu-Ray.
But it takes the concept of animal anthropomorphism far beyond any movie before.
I'll see it tonight. Just need to wait a little longer... Not likely to review it though but I do look forward to reading them.

I'm not gonna see it till it comes out, I'm with Camo Rovak on this one for a similar opinion, though I just have more reasons. I think this is a blip on the fandom's radar that'll be gone in a year or two. Considering the horribly unoriginal characters and garbage song, it just feels like pandering to the max. YourMovieSucks (who I met at VancouFur two days and ago and discussed this with him, he's awesome) did an amazing review on it confirming all my suspicions. I hope when I release my furry movie that actually HAS furries in it and not just anthros that the same hype is there. :3

The difference is "anthropomorphic animals" are animals with human characteristics, and "furries" are anthropomorphic animals that Cassidy likes.

It's just generic anthros. I saw people posting about how it could stop the negative connotations of the fandom, but that's not true at all. Just look at the comments on YMS' review. I just can't be over enthused in it when it's just an anthro movie. XP

On a side note, I actually had to defend Zootopia the other day cause my dad dismissed it as a kids movie, so I had to explain the whole concept that these works still require some effort, so I had to partially defend your precious film.

Why do you take YMS' opinion (or the opinion his public) as something relevant? I enjoy his reviews but I wouldn't say his opinion (or the one of his followers) reflects my own. One of his favourite movies of all time is Synecdoche, New York (2008); as good as that movie is (I'm not saying it's bad) I would never get much into it because it's fucking boring and weird. One of the ultimate goals of movies is to make you feel something you're satisfied with. So I'd take a viewing of Zootopia over Synecdoche any time. He feels amazed by Synecdoche. I feel amazed by Zootopia. Not because I'm less smart than he is, it's a matter of preference.
The 'negative connotations' of the fandom will be diminished by jolly good PR and greater numbers, this movie's bringing both.
And BTW, how could you 'disdain' Zootopia before you had seen it? I went into the theater expecting nothing, that's why I was impressed.

I have five reasons I don't like it. One of which being the fox, we don't need another fox. As bland as that sounds from me, yeah, I'd much rather see an animated Pine Marten than another f*cking fox.

Yeah, well, first of all, there's months of "I told you so" catharsis going on here, so ...
Second of all, you trust this YMS guy whole-heartedly, but, you know, my review is apparently chopped liver, so, thanks for that.
And edit third of all, that doesn't have anything to do with anything, well, actually, Fursonas articles on DogPatch Press should interest you. (And I still say they should have called it The Rabbit Hole is Not a Metaphor).
But anyway, YMS review ... review. Okay, few points, anyway.
"Everybody's an animal and also racist" is a good joke.
Jason Bateman sounds pretty Jason Bateman-y to me.
Okay, sound mixing criticism; don't, uh, hear that a lot. But, actually, it wasn't so much the mix as how Fantastic Mr. Fox's dialogue was recorded; they did the "all actors present, in a wide open space" format that was in vogue in animation a few years back, but, and I honestly don't know why, because he is right, it does make the mixing lots easier, has for whatever reason dropped by the way side. (Probably scheduling of talent; Fantastic Mr. Fox could big name talent because of the director, on a budget and have them do stuff and be available, because it's freakin' Wes Anderson, while most big name talent on animated movies takes the job because they can do it all in a weekend even if they're the star in a booth).
What does he mean, maybe a nomination? If this year's ceremony is any indication, the Academy will dry-hump a pop star no matter how sad it is, gotta get'em on the Dolby stage!
But, seriously, who buys soundtracks? THE MOVIE MADE THAT JOKE.
He doesn't like that they set up the climax? What? "I would have liked the ending better if it came out of nowhere and was a complete deus ex machina!" If you're doing a bait and switch scene, or any kind of twist, you have to play fair ... I don't think Zootopia could've won this one; foreshadowing is "too obvious," not foreshadowing would have been an "ass pull." That being said, I wonder what his take on The Sting is?
Blueberry homage ... interesting idea, though.
Oh, great, now he's complaining about THE BEST SCENE IN THE MOVIE; patience wearing thin.
But, anyway, does he go into screenwriting in other reviews, 'cause maybe he's being sarcastic about wondering if there's screenwriting formulas, because a reviewer that can't point out the specific screenwriting formula being used for this movie other than to vaguely wonder if, maybe, there is one, is missing something.

Nothing against you, but I've just been blocking out Zootopia from my mind really. The posts are too much, I'm gonna wait a bit for it to die down. Maybe I'll reread your review when I see it once it comes out on DVD, but until then I'm just ignoring everything. XP

Do it! Director is very forthcoming with Q&A stuff.
A lot of the reaction to the article was positive. Surprisingly, the people who got bent out of shape hated the headline (yeah, it was intentionally hype-y to put Zootopia in the title and say this is a more furry movie...) But I didn't have any problem about doing the same hype with Zootopia itself, even with all the people complaining that it's not a furry movie.
Then there were all the people hating on Boomer the Dog, even though the director addresses that in the article... knee jerk responses. Couple of things there to consider if you do another article on Fursonas. :)

I would probably say that Fursonas is more of a furry movie than Zootopia because it features actual furries rather than just cartoon animals. But I'll save that opinion for the article. :3

The Furry feature documentary Fursonas makes its Pittsburgh debut tonight, March 10.
Since this is a Furry news site I came looking for an article on Fursonas, but can't find one here, kind of a surprise when it's a full length movie about real Furries.

Yeah, well, uh, I was kind of meaning for you to write the "this exists" article; you're the one that's excited for it, after all. Not to say not excited about the Q&A article; great job on that, actually. Just maybe a quickie announcement article, to go along with it. For, like, right now, until the interview takes place.
You know, link to IMDB, trailer on YouTube, quick info on the director and the festivals its played, a sorta, kinda synopses and maybe a link back to Patch for, you know, providing the tip in the first place; take you five minutes, and then you'll have two stories to add to your resume story count, instead of just one.

Great Furry Movie, but since everyone likes it I still will have more love for the less appreciated Rescuer's Down Under (Roo bias is prevalent).
Yes, definitely an under-appreciated movie; not better than Zootopia under-appreciated, but under-appreciated ("I didn't make it through the third grade for nothing!" one of the funniest lines of all time; George C. Scott needed to do more voice work.)
It's great! Really great! I went out and bought the sound track, and would have bought the art book, had it been released the day I went to the book store.
Is it the best furry movie ever? It is for me; but it's still only one movie. Whether it will have any staying power like The Lion King, or affect the fandom like Robin Hood, I think it's too early to say.
Fandoms for particular works or franchises come and go, but the furry fandom stays because, as a group, we're not focused on one work or one creator, but celebrate everything about anthropomorphic animals.
It was also great for the filmmakers to acknowledge the fandom, and enjoy its creativity; but they'll have to move on to different projects. But we can keep revisiting the work, and if Zootopia has any staying power, then we'll still be doing that in a few years.
So have fun with Zootopia; but it's still too early to say it's the furry movie to see. In the meantime, keep creating!
