What aspects of your fursona's animal (or any animal) do you incorporate into your daily lives?

Furry Reddit - Thu 11 Jun 2015 - 02:39

Kind of a weird question, but I think it might fly here. :) What I mean is, animals can have traits that we can learn from and emulate, such as a cat's stealth, or a bird's singing, or a dog's boundless enthusiasm. What lessons from animals have you taken to heart?

For me, I think the biggest one is awareness of one's surroundings. I'm an introvert, a thoughtful and introspective person, so I have a tendency to be absorbed in my own world when out and about and walking, but I feel it's dangerous. (I could get hit by a car, or mugged or something because I wasn't paying attention) When I was in a park, I suddenly noticed the ducks go back in the water, and the birds and squirrels suddenly vanished and were silent. I wasn't sure what was going on at first, but then a bald eagle cruised past overhead. I thought, "wow, all the animals in this park are paying attention, because it could mean their lives." I resolved to be more aware, to be safe. I use my eyes and ears and look for anything that could be dangerous.

The other one, that I take from wolves and dogs, is my sense of smell. I think people tend to disregard their olfactory sense. I mean, we're always being told how many thousands of times more sensitive a dog's nose is to ours, so the human sense of smell is kinda useless, right? But it's not! We can learn much from things through our nose, like if something is dirty, or rotten, or has bacteria growing on it, or what chemical was last used to clean it. I even discovered that humans can follow scent trails/ plumes like a dog can! By moving back and forth, I can sometimes tell the size and shape of an odour plume and find where the source of the smell is. (I even kinda sniff like a dog, short, rapid sniffs) Yeah, I'm not as good a dog would be, but I've been able to find things, like a can of coffee, or what's making a musty smell in the house, and I learn which way the air tends to move in a building by following where scents go.

Ok, I'm making this too long, but I want to hear from you guys! What skills or behaviours have you learned from your fursona or other animals?

Scare the Bear!

In-Fur-Nation - Thu 11 Jun 2015 - 01:45

CartoonBrew.com made note that the fourth feature-length animation in the Open Season series is in production and scheduled for release on home video in the spring of 2016. “Directed by Cow and Chicken creator David Feiss (who was also head of story on the original Open Season) and produced by The Simpsons’ John Bush, Open Season’s fourth installment [Open Season: Scared Silly], animated by Canada’s Rainmaker Entertainment, centers on the mystery of the Wailing Wampus Werewolf, who reportedly haunts the Timberline National Forest that serves as the setting for the franchise. Its possible existence so intensely scares the crap out of Open Season’s domesticated grizzly bear Boog that he elects to skip summer camp, which inspires his companions, led by the one-antlered mule deer Elliot, to bombard their ursine pal with exposure therapy to cure his fears.” No word yet on who’ll be voicing Boog and Elliot this time.

The results are in!

Furry Reddit - Wed 10 Jun 2015 - 18:17

Y'all need to go get some sunshine! :)

I wanna sit down and do a data fit for the post I made earlier, but the trend I see already is that all of us are always on here! :3

You know what that means? We need to post more content! Post the art or music you don't think is good! I'll beat up anyone who trashes is and try to give you a positive review on how to get better! (And someone else who knows what they are talking about will tell you to ignore me and do it the real better way!) Make a text post and get people talking! The more the merrier! RP's are fun, and on or off topic posts draw in people to talk, why not make one? :)

Together we can build a brighter future! Or at least get some more content flowing here! :D

So... what do you all furs think about the Reddit ban on hate subs?

Furry Reddit - Wed 10 Jun 2015 - 18:03

Not wanting to stir up shit or anything, but I've seen a lot of dramas around it, and there's next to zero chance of a decent, rational chat about it in most subs, at least for the moment.

What do y'all think?

Edit for context: A few hours ago, /r/FatPeopleHate (and a few other subreddits) got banned as they encouraged harassing. I can't add much at the moment as I'm at work, sorry!

Sketch/writing prompts! Anyone interested? Give us your version of a short phrase!

Furry Reddit - Wed 10 Jun 2015 - 17:40

TOP EDIT: Flagging NSFW for potential submissions.

Been a while since I've done anything like this, and while it's fun to give myself a little sentence and try to draw it, I figured it'd be even more fun to challenge my fellow furs to do some too!

Here are the rules: Pick a phrase from the list (or that other people submit) and write a very short story or do a sketch representing it. I could possibly do quick art prizes for ones I find exceptionally good! Here are the themes/prompts/phrases I have so far -

  • "I" became "we"
  • These aren't my clothes
  • A few too many drinks
  • Prey becomes the predator
  • Too soon
  • Too late
  • "We" became "I"
  • Your favorite furry
  • I'm not showing off, I'm just better
  • Small, adorable critters
  • accidentally spiders
  • Everyone loves video games!

Make them as silly or serious as you want! This is a very relaxed, creativity-based thing, I guess you could call it a contest if people want me to do prize sketches.
