Castle By Design, Animals On Your Stuff

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 19 Jul 2015 - 01:59

Ed Roeder and Ruth Castillo-Roeder are two artists living in Southern California who happen to be married. They sell their works together at a web site called Castle By Design. He works mostly in paintings, she works mostly in photography. Most likely his works are going to be the ones that furry fans will take note of — as you can see by the t-shirt design below! He also has a collection of illustrated postcards and even i-phone cases for sale.

How random is too random?

Furry Reddit - Sun 19 Jul 2015 - 01:41

There are a lot of posts here that seem quite random and not really furry related, not that that's a bad thing but I want to know when I'm treading into downvote territory with a random, irrelevant post.

Any other gay or lesbian furs find it strange to talk openly about liking the same gender, even after coming out?

Furry Reddit - Sat 18 Jul 2015 - 22:57

EDIT: Sorry, I should've made the title "LGBT Furs". I value everyone's input and I don't want to devalue any of it in any way.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I've been out since Sept. 2013, and I still pause slightly before I start talking about liking boys. Even when I'm with my girl friends, I sorta do a "double take" to make sure it's ok before I say something as simple as "he's cute".

I grew up in a religious household where the LGBT community was demonized and I had "love the sinner, hate the sin" drilled into my head. The church I attended as a child is one of the more well known ones in this area, and the Pastor is currently the President of the Southern Baptist Convention. So needless to say, it's a very religious area, but it's also a University town with a thriving nightlife and lots of younger liberal people. I've since left the church and make no efforts to conceal my sexuality, and I do my best to educate people and dispel stereotypes they might hold about what being gay means. None of this, though, seems to have made it any easier on me.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else finds it a bit hard or strange or whatever to talk openly about their feelings, even in safe company. I would've expected it'd be a lot easier after having been out for a bit now.

Sorry for rambling, I just hold the vain hope that someone, even just one person, knows what I'm talking about and can relate, give me that tiny bit of group solidarity that I need right now.
