TL;DR I wanna play Dwarf Fortress with a sergal mod. I'll let people sign up to have sergals named after them, with specific professions, if requested. I play and give updates on how things are going occasionally and see how things unfold. I'll give more specific details if there's enough interest.

I've gotten back in the mood for playing Dwarf Fortress. It's a fun and complicated game, where you make and manage a city of drunk manic depressive idiots and try to help them survive and thrive. It's a stupidly difficult game to figure out, too, so even if it sounds up your alley, it's going to be an uphill battle to learn enough for the game to be fun. Well, fun fun, not DF-brand fun... which is losing. (For real, the game's tagline is "Losing is fun!")

I've got a fun idea, though. On the forums for the game, people will sometimes run a community fortress, where people sign up and have a dwarf named after them, maybe given a specific job, too, and then the owner of the community fort plays the game and see how it plays out. The owner will give updates regularly, taking screenshots of interesting things and noting important events. Here's one of the more legendary community forts to happen on the forums, Nist Akath! (Nist Akath was made in '07 with an lot older version of the game, so it's not accurate to the current state of the game)

This isn't furry so far, but fortunately, Dwarf Fortress is stupidly moddable. However, somehow making a bunch of randomly generated anthropomorphs fit together in one civilization would be incredibly complicated and silly to attempt, there is another mod I'm gonna use for this: the Vilous mod! Sergal fortress!

So anyway, this is an interest check, to see if anyone would be down for this. I'm not the best writer, but I could probably embellish the shit out of anything that could happen in DF. There are plenty of slots every everyone who'd likely be interested to have a character named after them and all kinds of crazy fun stuff could happen.

Normal DF has ASCII graphics, but I'll be using a tileset and a mini custom-made graphics set for the sake of readability. I'm still thinking of how to do the updates without being too spammy. My current idea is playing a season or two of in-game time and having bi-weekly updates until the fort somehow falls apart, which will happen.

What do you guys think? AMA about this, too.

Hallo fellow fuzzbutts! Boy, it's been awhile since I've actually posted here, hasn't it? Apologies, but life has been pretty crazy for the last month or so. Anyways as you may all recall, I work overnights at Walmart. Whelp, that's no longer the case! I got a job offer from Verizon which I accepted on the spot, and I start my 4 days of training tomorrow! Whoooo! So now I'm making the transition back to days, which has been a little challenging.

So, how have you all been doing? Have I missed anything exciting or important? I'm going to be on here regularly again, so expect to see more of your friendly neighborhood corvus gryph!
