Theatrical Panto-animals, Part 3: History book reviews by Fred Patten.

Dogpatch Press - Tue 1 Sep 2015 - 10:07
Part 1:  “If there was a Museum of Furry, theatrical “Panto-Animals” would be a major exhibit.“ Part 2:  Feedback, history and sources roundup. These “Panto-animal” history articles share a discovery of amazing proto-Furry happenings, in an overlooked era of Pantomime theater in Victorian Britain.  Stunning photos show why the topic is worth uncovering.  From those scarce records, a handful of actor […]

How to prevent art scams. (For artists)

Furry Reddit - Tue 1 Sep 2015 - 07:36

Good Morning beautiful people,

I want to help users prevent scam. I've been noticing it, a lot. You wouldn't treat every stranger as a liar but however wouldn't treat every stranger as an honest person either? Unfortunately, your going to have to choose the latter. There are three types of transactions artists use majority of the time.

●Up-front: Pay first, recieve product second

●Afterwards: Recieve product first, pay second

●Down-pay: Pay start-up fee/down-payment, product finished, pay remaining total, recieve product

I'm not going to tell you how need to run transactions but I will recommend them. Artists if you use 'Afterwards payment' and have been scammed I highly reccomment you to switch to the other options to prevent faulty payements in the future. If you do not feel comfortable doing so, steps you can take are: if a customers payment is pending send your customer a "heavily watermarked" piece (and I say that with emphasis). It will show you have proof of the finished product can deter unloyal customers from screenshooting/unauthorized downloads of the product. Once that payment is authorized send them the real copy! Artists if you use down payments or up-fronts make sure your payments are authorized. If unauthorized, immediately stop progress until the issue resolved you can resume.

Note this is for any artist of any fan base, not just furries. This the most information I have come up with myself. I could write an essay about this if I wanted to. Hopefully, artists will use this information in the future. Please if you have any other advice please feel free to share it.

Edit: Just remembered Paypal has a very lazy not-so-secure system when it comes to pending transactions. The way to go about it is sending the money to your bank account to see if it clears.

Furry face paint? In the furry universe, would face paint basically be temporary fur dye?

Furry Reddit - Tue 1 Sep 2015 - 03:07

I'm thinking of making a character inspired by Avatar, specifically Johannes cause he's just so awesome. And I love to think of logic behind certain aspects of characters. I want him to have Johannes inspired face paint, but face paint doesn't seem logical when your face is covered in fur. So what do y'all think? Would temporary fur dye be a kind of face paint alternative for fur covered faces?

Bonus question - Any furs here like Avatar? The metal band, not the cartoon... or scifi movie.

Anyone up this late? I'm kinda lonely, if you want to help me with my comic, I can stream, or maybe chat?

Furry Reddit - Tue 1 Sep 2015 - 01:20

Hey guys! I'm just a little lonely having spent all day trying to draw, but being unable to. I'd love to get some feedback maybe, or even some help figuring stuff out with it, if anyone wants to watch me!

If not, I still wouldn't mind chatting! What's going on? :D

Furry convention photo archive?

Furry Reddit - Mon 31 Aug 2015 - 21:45

Hi guys! I found a website a little while ago that was basically a file archive with folders corresponding to each convention and then folders for each convention year. There were TONS of photos, going back to the 80's and it was super fascinating to look through but I CANT FIND IT. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and have a link?

EDIT: Found SOMETHING kind of like it, just not as big: http://www.furry.org.au/chakat/Photo-index.html
