In case anyone's wondering about my last request thread, I didn't forget about it.

Furry Reddit - Thu 1 Oct 2015 - 22:35

Referring to this https://www.reddit.com/r/furry/comments/3ky5sj/taking_more_writing_requests_anybody_wanna/

I'm still thinking about it, I didn't forget. I've been having trouble finding the motivation to write anything, and in the last thread for requests, there just wasn't anything that I felt I could write properly. I don't want to put out a bad story just for the sake of getting it done, I want to take pride in what I'm writing.

/u/ArgentStonecutter's writing prompt is the only thing I'm currently working on aside from my story Quiet Falls. Since that writing prompt was deserving of a full length book, I decided I'd do it in multiple chapters, but I don't know how long it'll be until the first chapter's out. I have two pages and that's it right now.

I hate it that I keep running into motivation problems, running into schedule problems, getting tired because of lack of sleep, hitting a dry spot in my otherwise overflowing pool of ideas. It sucks. And I have to take the blame for it, too, because most of the time it boils down to the fact that I can write, but I don't want to.

I hate spending hours each day doing literally nothing but breathing, when I should be writing my ass off. I had nothing to do today, I could've written the next chapter to Quiet Falls, but instead I erased six paragraphs I already had written and replaced them with two shorter ones, erased those, and replaced them with two sentences, then erased that and closed the document. That took me nine hours to do.

By comparison, I wrote the entirety of Chapter Six of Quiet Falls in one 5 hour burst.

I have so much that I want to write, I have something like the next 17 books planned out in my head, but I just don't want to write them. I hate how long this takes, I hate how I can only find the motivation to write at the EXACT MOMENTS I'm not at my computer.

It's not like there's anything else I want to do. I only play video games for some of the day, I still have several hours to be writing. I don't watch movies or TV. I don't like reading (ironic). I have no one to roleplay with. I just don't want to do anything.

Half the time I want to sleep, the other half of the time I don't want to sleep because I'm so worried I'm wasting my time. I spend so much time making sure I don't waste my time, I end up wasting my time.

I almost want to say I'm depressed, but I know that's not it. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with me and I'm just a lazy shit.

I don't know what exactly I'm expecting to hear back. I don't know why I made this post, other than to say I'm sorry that I'm an incompetent writer who can't write. I know that free things are free and nobody expects perfection, but I'd feel like a douchebag if I didn't say something.

A very frank question o7

Furry Reddit - Thu 1 Oct 2015 - 20:48

How old are y'all? Idk why, but I'm curious as to how old all you fuzzies are, and to see the range of ages we have in the fandom.

So please, share your age if you don't mind! U realize this is a sensitive question in polite company so feel free to decline if you so desire.

Also, if you wanna, tell meh your gender identification, if you have one :D

I just get curious about random things, so pardon me if this is a pointless exercise!

I'm 19 and I'm male, btw, just to answer my own question.

Stay classy my fellow fuzzbutts o7

Head's up about an art theft site, Wallpart

Furry Reddit - Thu 1 Oct 2015 - 20:17

I was recently linked from a friend to a site called Wallpart, where they were selling my art without my permission. I had no idea any of this was being posted, and of course do not approve. The friend also linked me to a petition to try to shut down said site, found >>here<<.

Search your own name there ((AT YOUR OWN RISK)) and see what comes up. If they stole my stuff, chances are they're stealing your stuff as well.

Lots of new books and anthologies featuring FWG members were released at this year’s RainFurrest. Here’s a possibly-not-complete list (and if I’ve missed yours, please comment and let me know):

Phil Geusz also has a new science fiction series at Amazon with the first books out now — check out Early Byrd, Fledgling, and Jail Byrd.

Check your What the Fur conbook from earlier this year for the story “Fleeting” by MikasiWolf. (What the Fur is also holding a writing contest for 2016, accepting entries in both English and French — details here.)

In addition, Laika Dosha (whose creative team includes Patrick “Bahumat” Rochefort) had a successful demo at RF, and the Alpha 0.1 version is now available via Patreon.

In audio offerings, we have the audio edition of Huskyteer‘s story “A Blacker Dog” from Inhuman Acts, recorded by Savrin Drake, and you can also give a listen to an interview with Mary E. Lowd from last spring.

In nonfiction news from our members, George Squares had an article published over at [adjective][species], and Fred Patten presents an exhaustive list of What the Well-Read Furry Should Read.

And finally, congratulations to member Ryan Campbell, selected as the Writer Guest of Honor for RainFurrest 2016!

Just a rant

Furry Reddit - Thu 1 Oct 2015 - 17:02

So after about a year of being on this sub, I decided to get my first commission. It wasn't a huge deal, but I was excited. I paid my money for a reference sheet and was told it would take 2-3 weeks before mine would be worked on. No sweat. I could be patient.

That was back in May. I contacted the artist in early July to check on the progress and got the whole "sorry, I got a little behind schedule" thing. No biggie. It happens. So I waited. Three weeks ago, I asked again. Another excuse. Technical difficulties. I was promised it would be done by last weekend.

So to recap, I paid for a ref sheet back in late May and am still waiting on it after a laundry list of excuses from the artist. The worst part? There were only 4 people in front of me back then. Now there are still 2.

I guess I'm bringing this up because a lot of the original drama I heard when I first visited this sub was how poorly treated the artists were. People would demand freebies, be overly critical, act entitled, etc. Well the other half of the story doesn't seem to get much attention. If someone pays you for a service/product you agree to provide, fucking do it and don't make them wait forever. It's not unfair. It's like every single other business.

I love the art community and I'm not criticizing anyone in particular or artists in general. I love you guys. Just please realize that when we pay you, we would like to actually receive what we paid for within a reasonable amount of time. And I know I'm far from being the only one who's experienced this.
