I’ve noticed a problem regarding kik amongst /r/furry and its related subreddits. With /r/furrykikpals pushing to become an 18+ only subreddit, it cuts off a means for furries to meet for SFW chatting, and for minors looking to meet other furries. A lot of furries would argue that the furry community has been stretched too thin, making it impossible for a new subreddit to get off the ground, and that everyone could just use /r/furrykikpals as it is. However, a new subreddit could be exactly what is necessary to end this dispute, and enable furries both under 18, or just looking for a clean chat, to meet.

It’s no secret to anyone that /r/furrykikpals is predominantly people looking for sexual roleplay partners. Last I checked, I didn’t see a single post looking for a clean chat. Even assuming there are people still using the subreddit in an attempt to find a clean chat, that audience is going to drop once it becomes 18+ exclusive. Teenagers make up a solid portion of furries, no doubt, and cutting them off from a subreddit for kik leaves them little room to go for a clean chat with the current subreddits.

An alternative to /r/furrykikpals easily has the potential to take off, contrary to what others may think. With the amount of teenagers that frequent furry subreddits combined with the amount of people fed up with the constant advertisement of sexual roleplay instead of someone to talk to, an alternative subreddit would already have an audience to support it. The idea of an additional subreddit has already been passed around /r/furry enough that it’s clear people are looking for an alternative, and no doubt would support the creation of alternative subreddit.

A new subreddit also opens up possibilities for other means of chat. Kik, Skype, Line, Telegram (gaining popularity), and Snapchat are all popularly used means of communication amongst the fandom, having a subreddit for more than just one app opens a door to a new hub for people to meet and have fun. As long as people catch wind of the idea, a new subreddit could be hopping in no time.

Ultimately, it’s up to the people who support the idea or not. Anyone could make a new subreddit, and if this idea gets enough support, I’d be willing to make it myself. I’m confident that enough people would back it up that it could become another furry subreddit worthy of being commonly visited. I’m certainly willing to hear suggestions or critiques, but I feel that the idea itself is solid, and I’d love to hear some feedback. And yes, this may be a bit overboard just talking about a new subreddit, but I feel like it’s at least worth a shot. Stay furry, fuzzbutts.

TL;DR: An alternative subreddit to /r/furrykikpals is a feasible idea, looking to see how many people want to back me up.

Well today I told my friend that I'm a member of the fandom, the only problem is he doesn't know what Furries are and I need an easy way of explaining what Furries are.

Edit I've realised I could use him not knowing what Ferries are to make him not at all dislike Ferries
