Thanksgiving and what we're thankful for.

Furry Reddit - Wed 25 Nov 2015 - 22:20

I'm thankful for all that land my forefathers were able to snag from those natives. Suckers!

Seriously, though, despite whatever may have happened, the meaning of Thanksgiving is still held in exactly what it claims itself to be. As far as observation goes, it's a holiday that transcends history. Today is the day we get to take a moment and consider what we're thankful for.

I'm looking around my room now and counting everything on my walls, shelves, in my drawers. I'm happy for my $60 commission of The Pursuer, from Dark Souls 2, and my The Dark Crystal poster, and my Interstellar poster. I'm thankful for my black guitar that's been hanging on my wall with rusted guitar strings for the last two years. I'm thankful for my excessive collection of MLP:FiM merch, and for the cool vidya'game collectibles, like Subject Delta from Bioshock 2, and my Behemoth squeezie-chicken. I'm thankful for my old VHS tapes, for my D&D books, and for all my college books that I hope to one day read again. I'm thankful for my 1960's solid-wood desk with built-in record player, radio, and speakers. I'm thankful for my great record collection, and for all the years they represent.

I'm very much thankful for this laptop, which has somehow survived 2 years (and counting) of continual abuse from being taken all across the country and across town each weekend. I'm thankful for the marvelous internet connection, and for all the games I'm downloaded (legally and illegally) on here.

I'm even thankful for Reddit, which allows me to acquire sweet internet-points in return for bragging about how charmed my life has been.

More seriously again, through all my drifting thoughts, I always end up at people. People I'm thankful for.

I've been through a lot of people in my life. My family has been the same, but there's been a lot of people who I've known and have come to love and hold tenderly in my heart and thoughts, reflecting on them time and time again.

When asked with who I'm thankful for, these days I would like to mention all of you, /r/furry. You've become my new community, which I hope to remain in for months and months to come. I used to inhabit a different community, but they turned sour and so I left. And before that community, I dwelt somewhere else, and the same before that. So many places online have been my dwellings through the years, and through all my dwellings I've made plenty of wonderful friends, and sadly, kept only a few of them. I remember the times I shared, the art that was traded, the worlds that we built in our imaginations, and how we made fun plans to one day make those dreams come true.

I recall planning with Lizzy about how we'd be the rulers of the kingdom of Frank, and how I'd be the duke and she'd be the princess. I recall planning Neverreach with Avery, and how there would be four books in total, and with several dozen short-stories in between. I recall planning Eiren with a friend of mine, and that I'd be the programmer and he'd be the artist. I remember promising my childhood sweetheart that I'd marry her one day, and that she would wait for that day, too. And I recall much, much more. Those days have come and gone, and most of those people I don't talk to anymore. And yet I'm thankful every day for them, because they shaped me into who I am today.

I'm thankful for my days on SheezyArt, which introduced me into the world of artistry and creativity. I'm thank for my days on Ponychan, which introduced me to storytelling and roleplaying. And now I'm thankful for my days on /r/furry, for showing me what it means to be a part of a community of friends and associates.

I'm making this post tonight because tomorrow I'll be working all day at Waffle House, serving-up breakfast and lunch to those who are traveling or don't have a family to eat with. Consider this: some people don't have warm homes and relatives that welcome them with open arms. Some people don't have the luxury of having family members to argue over civil-rights issues with. They don't have the luxury of having someone to forgive. But the food at Waffle House is pretty good, and the servers appear to care, so you'll have your lunch there, and hope that the waitress asks your name.

So tonight, let's discuss who we're thankful for. Let's take a moment to consider our lives, our possessions, our friends, the ones who've come and gone and still remain.

How to get more out there?

Furry Reddit - Wed 25 Nov 2015 - 19:52

Any advice on how to get out there as an artist to get more people to commission me. It's my dream to make a living off of my art and I'm having trouble getting out as much as I'd like to be.

Missions for roleplaying

Furry Reddit - Wed 25 Nov 2015 - 14:57

All right folks, I'm kinda bored this Thanksgiving break so let's do some role playing. This was inspired by Ringgar's posts so you'll have the ability to choose your mission. You can play as long as you want and go back to where you left off. If you want to end the mission for good, just say MISSION FAILED. If you want to pause it for the day or longer, just stop replying and go back when you're ready! You may have to play as multiple characters as we go on.

Mission 1~ Terror of the Lumins: You are in a space ship lab with a research Lumin plant pod. Some furry has put some light on it for some reason and it has been growing. I turn the corner to face you while a strange plant hand grows from the pod behind you and grabs you.

Mission 2~ The Space Pirates: We visit a town doing Black Friday shopping when a space ship appears. We get transported up into an empty room in the spaceship.

Mission 3~ Snakedance: We wind up and explore on the planet Corux where avians live in a Hinduist/Indian culture. Meanwhile, an evil purple snake decides to start possessing Coruxans for its nefarious purposes.

Pick any one you like and we can begin!
