furryne.ws - Sun 17 Oct 2010 - 22:07
"British actor Simon MacCorkindale has lost his fight against cancer at the age of 58. The star, known for his role as Dr. Harry Harper on hit U.K. hospital drama Casualty, passed away at a London clinic on Thursday night with his wife, actress Susan George, by his side. MacCorkindale went public with his cancer battle last year, revealing doctors had discovered a tumour in his bowel in 2006. He learned the cancer was terminal after it spread to his lungs in 2007. Dear Margo: When Your Ears Are Part of Your Outfit

furryne.ws - Sun 17 Oct 2010 - 22:07
"Dear Margo: A friend of my husband is getting married. I barely know the man, and I've met the intended bride twice. A verbal invitation was extended to both of us. Oh, by the way, the bride requested that I not wear my ears to the wedding. Several years ago, my husband bought me a headband with little tiger ears on it. Ever since he put it on me, I've worn my ears everywhere, including to two weddings and a funeral. I've made them a part of my identity - my personal trademark, if you will. Going anywhere without my ears makes me feel self-conscious and only partially dressed."

Now that we’re halfway through October, we have another Halloween story. This is the second of Simon Barber’s H. P. Lushcraft tales to have appeared here, which are loving comedic homages to the milieu of H. P. Lovecraft. The story mixes wry dark humor with horror elements, as well as some romance this time.

Duncan the Wonder Dog

In-Fur-Nation - Sun 17 Oct 2010 - 12:29

Here’s how Adhouse describes writer and artist Adam Hines’ new graphic novel miniseries, Duncan the Wonder Dog: “What if animals could talk? Would some of them form a militant group in reaction to how humans treat them? Would humans treat them different? Come explore this dense tome of an alternate universe where the lavish renderings recall Dave McKean. 2009 Xeric winning Duncan the Wonder Dog WILL be one of the most talked about books of 2010.” Really now.  We’ll certainly see. The first 400-page, softcover volume of this black & white series is available now from Adhouse. There’s also a multi-page preview available for viewing at Newsarama.com.

Funday PawPet Show archive at risk over licensing fees

furryne.ws - Sun 17 Oct 2010 - 11:43
"The Funday Pawpet Show now offers a near-complete episode archive - but perhaps not for much longer. Over the past few months, several hundred old episodes have been detailed and put online for download, but the risk of five-figure licensing fees has led show lead Yappy Slyfox to threaten to pull the plug. Originally, only each week's previous broadcast was available for download, although several "old tapes" that might just happen to contain early episodes were auctioned off several years ago. The FPS annual telethon (which raised over $10,000 in 2007) is on November 14; its 11

The peculiar, pragmatic adventures of a wombat engineer

furryne.ws - Sat 16 Oct 2010 - 22:22
The webcomic Digger features an unusual epic protagonist. For one thing, she's a wombat. For another, in contrast to the dead gods, shadow demons, hyena warriors, and vampire squash around her, Digger is decidedly down to earth.

A Furry Fan Of Krispy Kreme

furryne.ws - Sat 16 Oct 2010 - 14:58
"I've been a huge fan of Krispy Kreme doughnuts ever since I tasted my first hot fresh Original Glazed doughnut several years ago. I have never lived very close to a source for Krispy Kreme doughnuts unfortunately, but I've been known to drive for hours to feed my craving. I came up with this concept of a cartoon character named Wolever Wuff a while back, and it was suggested by my friends that his personality should have an obsession with Krispy Kreme doughnuts, just as they accused me of having myself. My girlfriend (who builds mascot costumes for sports teams, corporate promotions, e

Donald Duck Meets Glenn Beck

furryne.ws - Sat 16 Oct 2010 - 14:58
"Regardless of your politics, "Right Wing Radio Duck" is a nearly seamless remix of Disney cartoons that pits Donald Duck against Glenn Beck, and captures the spirit of any number of earlier Disney propaganda shorts. The second half of the cartoon is particularly brilliant. It was created by Jonathan McIntosh, and dare I say, it's the funniest and most relevant that Disney animation has been in years."
