"After nearly four years online, the Furtean Times is now closed. With falling readership and contributions since the middle of the year, followed on by an exploit in early September bringing the site offline, I have decided to close the website for good. It was my initial intention to rebuild the website from scratch to make it easier for users to contribute multimedia content (with greater focus on video content, especially), however this process was difficult and time consuming to complete while working alone. Having started university in September, I now have little time on my hand

Cartoon Network has a CGI movie that is sure to spark an idea in the hearts of young scalies-to-be. “You’re not my real dad. My real dad is a dragon!”

From the press release: “Directed by Peter Chung (Aeon Flux) and based on the comic book series by Phil Hester and Andy Kuhn, Firebreather delivers fierce action in the clash of two worlds where monsters roam the Earth and past secrets are exposed. At the center of it all, a teenage boy named Duncan struggles to find his place as half-Kaiju and half-human.”

It’s cool to see Cartoon Network taking smaller comic series and turning them into a movie that I can only assume is just a really long pilot for a potential TV series (see: Star Wars: The Clone Wars).

Also, there are like a ton of paws and stompy parts, so you macros are probably already setting your Tivo to record.

Firebreather premieres on Wednesday, November 24 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT)

Whenever Howard the Duck turns up in your comic book, things are almost guaranteed to get weird — or weirder than usual. Such is the case in Spider-Man: Back in Quack, a new full-color one-shot comic written by Stuart Moore with illustrations by Mark Brooks and Joe Suitor (and published by Marvel Comics, as if you didn’t know). It’s seems that Howard the Duck’s brain has been thoroughly scrubbed, and his hard-edged humor has been ground down to make him more… socially acceptable.
