"Almost everything scientists know about the Bornean bay cat is based on just 12 samples, the first of which was a skin collected in 1855 in Sarawak, Malaysia. In the several decades following this original discovery, seven other skins appeared. It wasn't until 1992 that a living specimen was obtained. Then, after another was captured in 1998, the species disappeared. It was widely thought to be extinct until a photograph was taken of a single cat in 2003. "Two foxes have taken up residence in Charlottetown - on the roof of a home. The house in Lewis Point Park is now one of the most photographed spots in Charlottetown, as the foxes nap on the snow-covered roof. Tony Kelly said he snapped a series of pictures after his friend told him about the animals. "Gertrude Maxwell, the philanthropic founder of Save-A-Pet Inc., died on Tuesday night. She was 99. Mrs. Maxwell passed away at Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach. She began her crusade at the age of 61 after attending a Chicago-area Humane Society meeting where she was shocked to learn that an estimated 90,000 homeless pets were euthanized across the country every month.
