Hacker group draws unwanted attention to Furries

Furry News Network - Wed 15 Jun 2011 - 21:07

LulzSec has waged war on Anonymous. In their Tweets HERE and HERE, they mention seeing a posting on /b/ where Anonymous advised that LulzSec was being too aggressive and needed to back off on its attacks or be hunted by Anonymous.

In LulzSec’s reponse, they refer to Anonymous as /b/tards -which is not uncommon to see, but referring to them as furries and the “furry hoard” has begun to draw in some unwanted attention to furries.  Hundreds of blogs and dozens of news sites have begun reprinting the tweets from LulzSec, and broadcasting them in some news casts and podcasts.

?Lioness tries to eat baby at the zoo.??

furryne.ws - Wed 15 Jun 2011 - 17:43
People seem to be a bit freaked out by this video thinking the lion is trying to eat the baby. I agree more with the sentiment that the lioness wants to play with the kid.

Bronyville Episode 008 – Friendship is Running Wild, Brother!

Furry News Network - Wed 15 Jun 2011 - 16:35

Author: AppleCider

Dear Princess Celestia,

We spent a lot of time talking with Purple Tinker on the show about getting friends together face to face. We took a little reading on how the community is going, covered the recent news, and told everypony to be nice during some upcoming events. And somehow, Keanu Reeves and Hulk Hogan are now bronies. I might just be seeding that idea because I find it hilarious.

Sincerely,
AppleCider

PPS – I also realize it was wrong of me to try and force my poor, suddenly micshy girlfriend into a question on the show.
PPPS – To the Brony, who mentioned I was doing these wrong – thanks. :)

BDBC “Buckets” by Jinxtigr

Furry News Network - Tue 14 Jun 2011 - 20:36

Author: toonces
Jinxtigr serves up a sinful story of high-stakes lust and Skip gets a little emotional about it being our tenth show. Toonces is a little unnerved by the book club’s first hetero story, but as always, there is always real estate for diplomatic relations between the breeders and the queers.

We hope you enjoy this week’s meeting!… Read more..

BronyShow: Quotes From The Fandom

Furry News Network - Tue 14 Jun 2011 - 16:35

Author: mbulsht

I’ve been browsing Ponychan more and more lately, and have started to forgo my normal modus of lurking for a more active role as a regular poster. And one of the things that has brought me to this mindset is the recent trend of threads, mostly in the /oat/ board, where people have posted very inspirational messages to each other, words of encouragement, and advice.

Another recent rash of threads has exploded across /oat/ and /chat/ about the current state of the fandom, wherein people have discussed what it means to be a Brony, the ideals of Respect and Tolerance, and how to combat hate.

And while I was reading these, I realized that we have some amazing writers in our fandom. There are people who post things on Ponychan with prose that rivals some of the greatest fanfic writers I’ve seen in my lifetime.

And it’s not just Ponychan, either. We have some really amazing fanfiction writers getting their stories featured on Equestria Daily as well.

So this is my tribute to them. It will be a weekly post each Monday entitled “Quotes from the Fandom.” I’m not going to discuss the matters they talk about, nor will I preach their ideals. I simply want to post their words here so that others may read them, take them in, and acknowledge the skills of some of the best writers I know. I will post quotes from anyone in the MLP Fandom, from Ponychan posters, to fanfic writers who have their work up on Equestria Daily.

So here’s this week’s Quotes:

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

“What I’m trying to say is that you can overcome anything even if your family, your friends, heck the world, is against you. You CAN be anything you want to be. I won’t lie to you: It’ll be hard. You’ll rage. You’ll cry. You’ll probably feel like you’re alone. You’ll probably feel like giving up. Just don’t. Don’t give up and keep going. All these hardships in your life are just going to make you a stronger, wiser person. Once you overcome all those obstacles, you’ll feel like a Boss. Trust me.”

-PinkieShy (ponychan)

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

“Do not think sadness is all that different from a physical wound. If you get hurt, you just take care of yourself *properly* and it will heal on it’s own clock. Sometimes you need stitches. It’s ok, that will heal too.

You aren’t as fat, ugly, or awkward as you imagine. You won’t realize that until you look back in several years at pictures of yourself, in a way that is unfathomable to you now and think, “I really was that awesome”.

-Anonymous (ponychan)

………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Beautiful words to live by.

I’ll see you next week with more Quotes from the Fandom!

-Ben Sims

Nepal's First Translocated Tiger Found Dead

furryne.ws - Tue 14 Jun 2011 - 14:25
in January of 2011, a group of biologists and conservationists in Nepal moved a tiger from a rehabilitation facility in Chitwan National Park to a new reserve in Bardia National Park.

Fitted with a radio collar, the tiger—named Namo Buddha—represented a unique opportunity for researchers to closely follow the behavior of an introduced tiger. Unfortunately, this same technology led them to a grisly discovery a few short months later.

First Look: ‘Ernest and Celestine,’ the New Film From the Directors of ‘A Town Called Panic’

furryne.ws - Tue 14 Jun 2011 - 14:24
Just today I was recommending the incomparably wonderful animated film A Town Called Panic to a friend, which it occurred to me to wonder: what progress has been made on the project the makers of that film (Stéphane Aubier and Vincent Patar) are cooking up now? They’re making a new film, Ernest and Celestine (co-directed by Benjamin Renner), and as it turns out there is actually a current article about it in Variety, based on the fact that yesterday saw the debut of footage at the Annecy festival in France.

So that crop above is probably your first look at Ernest and Celestine, which adapts the book series by Gabrielle Vincent. The full image is below, along with some more news on the film. It looks like quite a change of pace from A Town Called Panic…

Variety announces that Lambert Wilson (The Matrix Reloaded, Of Gods and Men) will voice Ernest, “a gruff bear who wants to be an artist, who befriends Celestine, an ingenious mouse.” Also in the cast are Anne-Marie Loop, voicing an aged lady mouse and Dominique Collignon, playing a dentist.

Acclaimed French writer Daniel Pennac penned the screenplay, based on the series of illustrated kids books by the late Gabrielle Vincent. Goran Bregovic, who has often worked with Emir Kusturica, is reportedly doing the film’s music. And Didier Brunner is producing; he was behind a couple films that people liked, such as The Triplets of Belleville and The Secret of Kells, so that is probably a good sign for this one.
