I dunno if it's just me, but I lose /so/ much interest. It makes me feel like they should just write their own story. What about you guys? How much is too much?

Teddy with a Dirty Mouth

In-Fur-Nation - Fri 6 Apr 2012 - 01:53

… and attitude. Look out below world, but Seth MacFarlane — creator of Family Guy — is about to unleash his first feature film on you this July. Simply called Ted, it tells the story of a young man who once wished that his childhood teddy bear would live with him forever… and now, he does, well into our hero’s adulthood, though both of them are obviously having trouble growing up. Interesting thing is, it appears that Ted the talking stuffed bear, his human friend, AND their other friends get along better that you might expect in this sort of a set-up. The R-rated film stars Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis, as well as Seth MacFarlane himself — yep, he wrote it, he directed it, and he stars as the voice of Ted, who’s animated in CGI. Cartoon Brew has a link to the film’s first trailer — but take warning, this is very raunchy and very very Not Safe For Work! Don’t say we didn’t tell you. Interestingly, Cartoon Brew also has an article about Imagine THIS, a cartoon strip that Lucas Turnbloom has been drawing since 2008… and which has some amazing similarities to Ted. They don’t accuse the Ted team of directly stealing, the the article is still interesting.

So it came to my attention I lack furry friends

Furry Reddit - Thu 5 Apr 2012 - 22:56

I was sharing a photo with the 3 furry friends I have when I realized I met them all in person. So I go to reddit, the keeper of my soul, to ask: How everyone is doing? Nice weather today.

Guild Wars 2 Spills Beta Feedback in Interview with GWOnline

Gaming Furever - Furry Game News - Thu 5 Apr 2012 - 21:04

hero-personal-story-overview

GWOnline recently published an extensive interview they had with ArenaNet about Guild Wars 2. The interview goes over how the beta was received and what changes will come because of the beta. Difficulties facing the team surrounding new professions and problems encountered in the beta seem to be smoothing over nicely in time for the game's impending release.

Game Designer Mike Ferguson on how the beta was received: "Overall the feedback was extremely positive. For WvW, the beta was extremely useful for us as we were able to learn a lot from playing with a large population over the weekend. After the beta ended we immediately went to work on implementing various updates to make siege weapons more effective, we’re optimizing various systems that were extremely taxing on our servers, and we’re looking at various ways to make WvW easier to learn for people who are first starting out."

Editor Commentary: GW2 is looking particularly good and is shaping up to be a serious contender against WoW especially given they are not going to require a monthly subscription.  There are plenty of choices as far as character customization and I will likely be going with a Charr which has some cool Wolfish attributes.  All in all I think ArenaNet is putting a huge amount of time and effort into coming out with a quality MMO at launch that will appeal to both PvE and PvP players and which offers a good variety of content that will appeal to gamers in the Furry Community.

Complete interview can be read here.

Pets of Torchlight II Revealed

Gaming Furever - Furry Game News - Wed 4 Apr 2012 - 22:05

tl2_ls_panther_huge

For those that loved the ability to have pets in Torchlight, you'll be excited to know that all three originals make a return in Torchlight II, along with three new loyal companions. In addition to the cat, wolf, ferret, and Chakawary, there is now a bulldog, panther, and hawk available to choose from. A video showing off the seven pets is available below. This is what Runic Games had to say about the furry friends:

"The life of a dungeon-clearing warrior can be a lonely one. Friends in your party may not be online, or may be questing abroad. To whom can a solitary skeleton-smasher turn for morale support? Fear not! Fluffy companions await you, whose inventories are surpassed only by their loyalty. Oh, and pointy teeth. Or claws."

Torchilight II captures all the flavor and excitement of the original game - while expanding the world and adding the features players wanted most, including online and LAN co-op multiplayer. It is being developed by Runic Games and will be released later this year (hopefully!)

April Featured Fursuiter of the Month - J.D. Puppy!

Furries In The Media - Wed 4 Apr 2012 - 21:45

Just finished off my most recent Featured Fursuiter of the Month article for the Furry News Network (FNN), and I was lucky to get J.D. Puppy for this month's feature.  He was awesome to interview and one guy I've been wanting to get to know for a long time.

The FNN Featured Fursuiter of the Month is a bi-monthly profile series where every other month I will choose one well-recognized figure in the fandom’s fursuiting community, offering a unique “behind the mask” look at their characters and lives outside of fursuiting, as well as how they found the furry fandom.

Though they are a lot of work (much more so than anything I write for my actual journalism job) I thoroughly enjoy doing these as they allow a unique take on the fandom that people don't often get to see, as well as portraying the positive side of furries.  If anyone wants to nominate a fursuiter for a future story, let me know, I'm always open to suggestions.

Here's the story, enjoy!

April FFoTM - J.D. Puppy: Experienced mascot performer, ballroom dancer is also everyone's 'Buddy'

And in case you missed them, here are my previous features.  They are now published bi-monthly, so the next one will be released the first weekend of June.

February 2012 - Skroy

December 2011 - Bucktown Tiger

October 2011 - Kiwa Lyon

September 2011 - Nicodemus Rat

August 2011 - Dogbomb

July 2011 - Yippee Coyote
