What's the worst greeting you've gotten from another fur?
I was in a chatroom, I greeted the person and they replied humps Needless to say, I threw him across the room and left.
EDIT: Man, if I was at a Furry con,I wouldn't act much different, sure I'd be a little more relaxed with what I say, but I sure as hell wouldn't try to grope/molest/creep anyone out, I'm just too nice for that.

Local fur meets: Do you attend?/what are your opinions?
Hello fellow furs of r/furry! I'm curious to start a discussion on fur meets, do you attend any meets? Do you enjoy them? Have any other opinions or things to say about meet ups in general? post your thoughts here!
Personally I am a member of the Connecticut furs and attend a regular monthly diner fur meet at the Town Line Dinner in Rocky Hill CT. I've met a lot of good friends in the few months I've attended meets and would certainly recommend, at least in my area, that anyone looking to meet other local furs attend a public meet.

Choosing your Fursona; a very important matter.
I was talking to someone earlier today and they when I asked what their fursona was they said something akin to "I was confused about what I wanted to be so I settled for...". My response was to immediately tell them the importance of choosing your fursona and that you don't just "settle" on one.
After I sent the reply I re-read it and thought it sounded like good advice. Maybe those that did not know what a fursona was or were just having a little trouble choosing one could read this and perhaps understand what they need to know. This is a slightly edited version of what I sent to that person.
Your fursona is a HUGE part of you! Think of what traits you share with the animal you choose. It should be able to say something about who you are. Usually when you tell someone your fursona they should automatically be able to know a certain part of you.
Examples; My main fursona is a bunny and for me being a bunny means; I like being thought of as small and cute, my bite is worse than my bark, my kicks are strong, I'm super soft (my hair and skin), full of energy(my friends mentioned once that I bounce when I walk and even when I'm sitting), and that whole thing about super-sex-drives... Plus I can twitch my nose up and down like a bunny rabbit too (many are amazed by this, actually. Their reactions are rather funny).
My secondary fursona is the western dragon; wise, seemingly omniscient, mature, strong, feared, has a strange attraction to shiny things and things of value and beauty, a large being that takes up space (even with a human body I seemingly fill up the room with just my presence) and an aristocratic air of a proud creature.
From just knowing these two animals you've learned a lot about my character, haven't you? You don't just "settle" on a fursona. You choose it carefully by not only your favorite animal (which bunnies and dragons are my favorites) but also by what qualities of those animals match yours.

Looking for artists to commission
Hey /r/furry! Relatively new to the sub, though I've "been" a furry for years now, I've never actually had a Fursona..
I've got an idea for a character in mind, but I'm struggling on finding commissionable artists, everyone I seem to find is either closed or the prices are a little out of my range.
Anyone know any artists open for commission? :D
Edit: Crikey, thanks for all your links people! I think I've decided, but I'll keep you all in mind for any future commissions I'm sure to get! :D

Best wishes to the family and friends and those involved in the fatal wreck this morning near Yreka, California.
Wolf, Lonewolf, Duskwuff, and Emptyset were in a highway accident this morning. Their minivan had a head on with a semi truck for an as yet unknown reason (I haven't heard who crossed what line for what reason).
The last I had read injured parties were transported to the hospital with traumas ranging from severe to mild. No details on who was hurt how.
I believe there was one fatality at the scene (Wolf).

Edit: I'm told the others in the wreck are expected to be discharged from the hospital some time tomorrow, however this is second hand information. I'm quite sure healing is going to take a lot longer than that. Again, My condolences go out to them.

When did you discover the fandom.
I first discovered it when I was 12 (2002) at a Fry's Electronics in Phoenix. I was playing the little ddr setup they had there while my parents shoped and this probably 20 year old couple walked up behind me. When it was the woman's turn she had a shirt from a con that year (can't remember which one) and it had a sexy fox thing on it. I asked her about it and they took the next 40 minutes to explain it to me. I stayed up all nite looking stuff up about it. Turns out I was always a furry, just never new there were others.
TL:DR 2 furs at Fry's electronics showed me in 2002.
