Trying to step up my game and get more art out. Here's a short comic I did the other day for a friend and his sister.
Since you guys liked my first post so much, I figured I'd introduce myself before posting more :]
Making a minecraft skin for a lucky someone(s)!
I've been doing skins for a while and would like to gift one to somebody. Just post a link to a ref or full body picture of what you would like and I'll pick one ...or two ...or three. I don't know, depends how many are interested.
If you wanna see what I can do, here and here were some furry ones that were recently commissioned. I also have an account on planet minecraft if you want to see my non furry stuff.
Or if you just wanna commission one off me you can go here.
Edit: I went to bed and yay there is finally some interest! I'll be making the skin later today :3

My boyfriend is opening 5 commissions slots, his first time officially doing this (took me a lot of nagging x3). Go check him out. His art's pretty rad. :3
I don't think I'm a furry. So what am I then?
I'm confused. Since I was 9 or so (plus or minus a few years, I am in college now), I frequented a site called furry-paws. Since then, I've had a fursona. I've bought art, tags, whatever. My fursona is a perfect representation of my personality traits. A thread that I just saw here in /r/furry just spurred this question as I saw other responses. Other people have fursonas for their looks, just like OCs. That is not what I was taught a fursona should be.
Back then, people only had feral fursonas. Even on sites other than furry-paws (wajas, sledzz before it shut down, cattails, sites I can't remember anymore but I know existed at some point) they were always feral. The concept of anthro fursonas was not introduced to me until, get this - earlier this year when I started coming here. I kind of felt sheltered and lied to. I am not and never have been "attracted" to the anthro characters, but at the same time I have also never been "attracted" to feral characters, either. I thought it was just the perfect way for those of us who like animals in a platonic way to get more in touch with our natural side in this world which is so overrun with humanity.
After the things I've seen here, I don't think I am a furry. I am not a therian, I do not think I am an animal. I don't really know where to go or what label to slap on myself. Can anyone explain?

Pogo’s First Appearance
Well now, you learn something new every day… This is from the publisher’s press release: “Walt Kelly’s Pogo, acknowledged as one of the most important and influential comic strips of all time, first appeared not in newspapers but as a feature in the Dell comic book anthology Animal Comics, in its first issue, in 1942. The complex, multi-layered, character rich world of Pogo and the Okefenokee Swamp started in these early stories. Now, fans of Pogo can experience it all from the beginning with Hermes Press’ reprint of the complete Dell Comics Pogo. Volume 1 features all of the Animal Comics Pogo stories together with complete reprints of Pogo’s appearances in Dell’s Four Color comics. With Hermes Press’ complete reprint of the Dell Comics Pogo, admirers of this ground-breaking comic feature can now witness the strip’s evolution, in an archival hardcover, digitally reconstructed to perfection.” Unfortunately you’ll need to wait for October to see Walt Kelly’s Pogo: The Complete Dell Comics, Volume 1 (in hardcover) but you can pre-order it at Barnes & Noble.
So Back in September of 2010 I went to the zoo. Now that I'm on Reddit I can share this with you all.

Dealing with the media
hey guys, recently my mom watched taboo (thinking nation geographic is a credible journalistic source :) and it basically showed a fucked up guy who thought he was a dog, you know the rest
how do you cope with the media going out of their way to show the worst of the group. what the fuck man
edit: to help clarify I have NO problem with therians or even any thing not in the norm to begin with. The problem I had more was with being a member of society and not being gross in public (respecting peoples personal space). Also while I see these things and usually laugh at them (CSI was a riot) The goal of this post was more "are there any good sources that can help set the story straight with furrys". sorry if I hurt anyones feelings it was PURELY unintentional. I just cant communicate well it seems x.x

Why Do I Do It?
You once wrote that you liked getting questions about you, so here's one I've been wondering about for a while.
What motivated you to start this column and this website?
Peace and bright blessings,
Stilghar

Hi, Stilghar,
Oh, gosh, that sounds egotistical of me, doesn't it? I think I meant that I liked getting different kinds of questions, hee hee.
So, what motivates me? As I got more and more involved in the fandom, I found that many furries are quite troubled for one reason or another, and furs I met online kept asking me for advice because I'm a greymuzzle, I suppose, and have been around the block a few times.
This happened so often that I thought an advice column would be worthwhile. So, I contacted the FurryNewsNetwork and asked if they would be interested in a furry advice column. The editor was very kind and accepted the suggestion. For a couple months, my column started there, and, actually, you can still contact me through the FNN at http://www.furrynewsnetwork.com/interact/papabear/.
I started getting so many letters that the weekly (or biweekly, I forget which) column couldn't keep up. I was having a backlog! Therefore, I started my own Website and told FNN they could reprint any articles they liked on their site.
Of course, I do this for the huge amount of money it makes me, which allows me to live a life of luxury here in southern California. NOT! My advice, as you all know, is free, and I even encourage people to reprint my articles or share them, if they like. I haven't made a dime and, in fact, have spent hundreds of dollars in advertising and web hosting fees. So, it is not for the money that I do this.
Why DO I do it? Because I believe that I am a member of the furry community, and I believe that this is my extended family and I should do my part to help others as some of my furiends have helped me. I strongly feel that the world is a better place when people help each other rather than pursue only their own selfish goals. This is also the philosophy behind the upcoming American Furry Association, which I hope will be up and running by next year.
Hope that answers your question, Stilghar!
