Lately, there have been some posts from people new to furry that sound like they've made a conscious decision to check out furry culture and be part of it. It makes me wonder how common this is.

Personally, I've been "furry" for as long as I can remember - since before furry was a thing with a name; Before the fandom existed; Before the Internet. It was never a choice I made, and not something I could ever un-choose (though I tried for a time). It would be like trying to rid myself of any other parts of my personality, my sexuality, my likes and dislikes.

So...are both of these approaches common in the fandom? What do you think of that?

Long running video game comic strip featuring feline duo Aeris and Leo.

Basically VG Cats, or Videogame Cats, is a webcomic about videogames along the lines of Penny Arcade. Though the last year or two I've tried to focus the comic towards Video Games parodies rather than two gamers. Andtotally random stuff when I'm bored.

In 2005 Evan Dorkin (writer) and Jill Thompson (artist) won an Eisner Award for their original comic book series Beasts of Burden, about a haunted small town and the local dogs and cats who do nightly battle with the deadly forces of evil trying to invade.  Now comes the brand-new Beasts of Burden: Hunters and Gatherers, a one-shot full-color comic designed to introduce new readers to the animals of Burden Hill and their struggles. This time around, our furry heroes discover that a friendly half-werewolf might just be more help than they bargained for. Hunters and Gatherers will be available at comic book stores this March, from Dark Horse Press.

Hey fellow Reddit furs! I've been here for a bit.. lurking.. And I thought it was time to introduce myself (or whatever) So! I'm Alpha the Caniax! I'm a youngfur (relatively, I don't remember when I started getting into the fandom..) and I'm excited to get into the fandom more. But before I do, I've got some questions..

Is it weird that I'm not into the whole fursuiting thing? To me, they're just kinda.. weird.. (No offense)

And what do you guys think would be the best way to come out as a fur? I want my dad to know, but he's been pretty hostile to the "weird" things I like to do.. (there was a huge shitstorm when I came out as a brony, so I'd like to avoid that again)

Also, if any of you have questions about my species, AMA!
