Furry DAE: The opposite of the tail end.

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 23:29

The recent post about Tails had me thinking. Tails get a lot of attention in the fandom, and rightfully so. Its one of my favorite parts of furry and anthro characters. But I was also wondering if anyone else here is really fond of what's at the "other" end of a character? I.E. The Nose. I really love the noses of furries as well. I think there are many cute features about them. Does anyone else feel the same way? In any case, share your thoughts. I'm curious about opinions on such aspects of character designs. I would also be highly interested if anyone knows of any artists who put attention or focus onto the noses of characters. Thanks.

Furry Game mods?

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 22:18

Hello r/r/furry. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any "furry" mods for any current video games. Specifically, mods for popular games that don't normally contain any furry or anthro attributes. so nothing like the many khajiit variants for elderscrolls and such. Thanks.

Just got a tablet, can't draw, would love some useful advice/resources

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 20:33

I realize this isn't specifically furry related, but considering how many artists and fellow beginners are here, I figured I may as well ask here. I bought myself a Wacom Intuos Small drawing tablet, and I can't draw. It came with the software AutoDesk Sketchbook Express 2010, and ArtRage 3.5.

Doing 10 free digital busts tonight!

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 20:01

My gallery

If you have posted on one of the other freebie threads tonight I will pass you!

Please give as detailed a description as possible, or any reference imagery. If you provide a lacking description of what you want, I will likely pass you.

Edit: that's 10 my tomodachis. I'll try to finish them and have them up by tonight or tomorrow morning a the latest (its 7 pm here)

Edit 2: Chronicles of my tablet pen: nib somehow flings across the room and is nowhere to be found, I make a replacement nib out of mechanical pencil lead stuffed into the socket, that breaks and now i cannot retrieve the lead in the socket, rendering my pen useless. I may get a replacement Thursday. Sorry my tomodachis

Relationship with a fur friend

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 20:00

Link to our decision our decision

So I have a really good and interesting relationship with a friend. We are both guys furs so we pretty much understand each other very well. We've known each other for about 3 months or so now and we are really deep. We first started being alright with hugging each other, then it went to cuddling, and now were ok with kissing/making out with each other. We don't want to consider ourselves as a couple or friends with benefits. We're not gay but we just have a profound love for each other. So what is our relationship?

Hi, I'm NOT new to the fandom, but I AM retrying my hand at drawing art again.

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 19:28

As the title says, I've been here (not on /r/furry, but FA, e621, etc. (As a watcher)) for a little over 4 years now (started my FA account 10/8/2010!), and I've seen a lot of stuff I like, found stuff I like, found some artists I could even say I admire, etc.

I got a card from one of the people I watch on FA, and it's recently inspired me to start trying again on the art side.

"1 is dont give up, you are going to suck for a while, and you will naturally cling onto things like not wanting to erase or not want to start over if the progression you have is bad. You will many times need to totally destroy your style to fix things, this will take a very long time, but just try to enjoy the path not the ending.

2 Dont trace, its never worth it, but however do use refs, and or copy parts you like or you wanna learn how to do. drawing the same thing over and over helps build muscle memory and gets you better. That said once you are better at something go for something else. Dont hide stuff too much or just refuse to draw it, cause later it will really bite you and keep you weak in that area.

3 Look for tips and the like from other places like books videos and people, but in the end its the doing and doing over and over that really lets you be able to do the drawing. Try to think of thing in a 3d setting, understand how a thing is from all angles, and if you think that way you will be able to over come one of the hardest aspects of drawing.

Once you get handles on certain things more specific advice can be given, but the most important thing to know is it takes time and doing it."

This is the advice I got from the guy who sent out the cards, and I think it really hits home what new artists should be doing. Especially the part about not tracing, and extensively using refs and copying parts (for practice.)

Now, I'm pretty open minded, or at least I try; I would like to hear what the people of /r/furry have to say as advice to a newbie in training when it comes to art.

Thanks again!

Fursona Naming Tips?

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 19:15

I'm fairly new to participating in the furry fandom, maybe a year or so. I've started coming up with a Fursona since I'll be attending the Califur con this year and have a costume (not a fursuit) as well. I chose raccoon as my species for a variety of different reasons. Finishing details on appearance and personality so she/I need a name. I'm not asking anyone to name me but just some tips because I've felt a little lost. I have a name in the cosplay world but probably want to keep those separate. Maybe an example? I did some Googling but I always prefer a person's opinion or advice directly. :) Thanks. waves paw

Question about furry sites and possible sub reddits

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 18:08

Why don't sites like SoFurry, FurAffinity, InkBunny, and F-List have sub reddits? Must they be made by those sites or can a common user make one? I ask because with how easy it is to talk on reddit I would figure it would help these sites with discussion issues in a way which is fairly easy and public.

Anybody have Netflix?

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 17:13

If you do, and you haven't already out of your own boredom, check out Bojack Horseman. It's a crude comedy cartoon and the main character is a horse, and a lot of the minor and background characters are anthromorphic animals as well. I love it myself, it's almost like a reality with just being the norm, AND the main plot isn't about the fact that there is 'furries' in society; which I also really like because the animals are just a normal thing to people. Also all the 'furries' aren't just cats and wolves: they put all kinds of animals that in the furry fandom kinda seem like don't get much attention or popularity which I hope other people in the fandom could appreciate too :3

Cheers and belly rubs!

With so many introduction posts today, I may as well throw mine in the mix.

Furry Reddit - Tue 30 Dec 2014 - 16:47

Hello Fellow Furries... try saying that 5 times fast. My name is Sterling, some call me Archer, fair warning: I tend to ramble so I will put a TLDR at the bottom. So a little about myself I am a 19 year old bisexual male and my fursona is a wolf. I don't actually know how long I have been a furry, I started out creeping deviantart in my early teens and found out I really like anthro art. I got more and more into it but never looked around at the possibility of a community until a few months ago. I had created a few generic fursonas for the purpose of story writing but it wasn't untill a few weeks ago that I started on MY fursona, still working out the all the details. I can't draw anything but I love to write and I love hugs so as soon as I am able to, I will put together my own fursuit so that I may start my quest. In the meantime I have never RP'd before but I would like to give it a try if anyone would care to RP with me. P.S. If anyone would just like to chat, about anything, my ears are always open.

TLDR: I'm here, I'm queer, and I'm huggy. let's RP.

Edit: I just realized I forgot to mention this, it isn't important but this is sharing time, absolutely no-one irl knows I am a furry.
